Great store, cool unique items you wont find anywhere else. People always compare it to warrior but that's like a weird s&m shop. Way out is more alternative, skater style. They have the best inscents from wild cherry, they have cool jewelry, original tee shirts, air brushed custom items, and other random odds and ends. Something new everytime I go in . I do know the owner takes piercing apprenticeships, sterilization, and aftercare seriously so you're definitely in good hands with that aspect. The prices are fair too compared other shops. Once I had a dermal get infected after having it for years, it anchored my skin so i swung by here during my hour lunch, and the girl working removed it for me too. They know their stuff so id recommend them over anywhere else with that especially..if you love over priced stipper clothes and paying more for a piercing that are either equal, or less than, warrior would be better for you read more

I've been here three times, first I got my helix done, second I got two more piercings done on my helix so it made three, and third for my septum. The staff was alright, I believe my piercers name was angel for my septum, she made a mistake first piercing, it was crooked and she went through my cartilage, so we retried, it was misplaced the second time, so I was going to get it done again but only after the first hole wasn't so sore. We made an appointment. I decided to go to another place. For my cartilage piercings the manager did them and they were excellent at it. She was very good. I am not sure if the piercer was new or not. My helix piercings were great, the first one did develop a keloid, it's been seven years, the second and third, which I had done the same day by the manager, I had to take out sadly because I had to get surgery and didn't place them back, which I regret not doing, but I was sick. I have to get them redone eventually, this was in 2018. The staff wasn't too unfriendly, the one guy, Adam, heard me screaming in the front for my septum and asked if I was ok, to which I replied I was. As I'm reading in the reviews here, sometimes places are understaffed or busy, so I tend to think. This was all a few years ago and my helix 7 years ago, just wanted to post since seeing all of the negative feedback and share my experience. They do have sterile equipment and it is clean for piercings, haven't had any trouble. read more

I'm not trying to be a Karen, this is my first time writing a review, but this place is horrible. Please do not go here. I got my industrial pierced 2 months ago and the lady pierced it too close to the surface, I mentioned this to her, but she said it was fine. Two months later it was rejecting. I came there to tell them the issue and how it was incorrectly pierced which is why it's rejecting and they did not even care. The girl I told about the issue didn't even speak to me but just ran off yelling for someone to speak to me. Sam, who I assume to be the manager, did not even offer an apology for the piercing being done incorrectly and just rushed me out the door after removing it. It is uncommon for cartilage piercing to reject unless it was done incorrectly or there is poor jewelry quality. This place is unprofessional in all aspects and the piercers are unqualified. Please go to a reputable piercer. The attached is a picture taken 3 days after it was pierced, and you can clearly see how close to the surface it was pierced on the bottom, which is the part that got rejected, the top was fine. It's a shame really, the least they could've done was offer an apology for their error. This place is a joke. read more

So I got my tongue pierced here sometime in september and the only complaint i have is how rude the two girls at the front desk were. I came in and asked a few questions, the one woman got annoyed easily as if I asked 20 questions when it was only three or four. there was also a huge mixup with this messy line made in front of the piercing room so i believe the same woman yelled at me for not even knowing or seeing the other person in front of me. it's all good. I been going there for 5+ years and that store sucked ever since theyve kept switching out employees and remodeling it. The girl who actually does the piercing was pretty kind, cool, and helpful. I wish I could remember her name at least. I wasn't even mad But I caught secondhand embarrassment at how trashy those girls behind the counter acted for nothing bc I'm sure people around us looked at her like she was weird and rude for talking to me that way. She was short and blonde. Anyway, the way out in franklin mills is better and the original girl that used to work in the one on Cottman ave moved to that one. When I walked in, there was another customer being helped by an associate, by whom I was not acknowledged. It took a minute or so for someone else to walk out from the back of the store. She asked me what I needed, without a smile, without any interest in offering customer service. I told her I was looking for two particular pieces of jewelry, to which she responded, "Well, where did you get them pierced?" I don't understand why that matters, when I'm telling her what I'm looking for at THIS location. She said, with an attitude, "Well, like what size?", and proceeded to take me to a case and told me to let her know when I needed her. She didn't offer to stay and actually pull the trays out to show me my options, was not helpful whatsoever. I was willing to overpay for items I could find elsewhere for cheaper prices, because this was convenient, but not with her attitude and lack of customer service skills. I can't imagine how I'd feel being treated like that if I weren't familiar with piercings at all. I will never again go to this store. read more

I just walked out of this location feeling extremely disappointed! Today is my nieces birthday, I went in and asked if they had any shirts in kids sizes. I was treated like my business was not important. The three young women in the store all took turns speaking to me like I was an idiot. As a Director Of Operations at a local animal shelter I would have bought the adorable pit bull t- shirts, the cat shirts etc for my niece. I was so turned off by the way these "girls" spoke to me that I bought nothing. I wish I could support this local business but I would advise any adult expecting professional treatment to go somewhere else. The service here was terrible. read more

WORST PLACE EVER TO PIERCE. It's so dirty, they don't know what they're doing because my friends and I, (5 in total) ALL GOT KELOIDS. Two got nose piercings and got keloids, and 3, including me had a tragus piercings and we all got keloids. I wasn't planning on getting a new piercing this morning. I left my workout headed to Target to 'grab the essentials' ($50 later....). After grabbing lunch at the newly opened Taco Bell, I left to head home, and like always, drove through the Cottman Mall parking lot. I didn't have any plans for the day, so curiosity as to how those Nike Air Max 270s fit struck me and I walked into all 3 shoe stores (and left disappointed in just how uncomfortable they are-- I'm an Adidas NMD gal and should just stick with what I know and love). I've been talking about getting my philtrum/Medusa (as some call it) redone for months after the one I had for 7 years came out, closed up and wouldn't accept my offering of new jewelry for it to wear. I wandered into Way Out and was immediately greeted by the two gals at the counter. I asked the cost of said piercing and wanted to look at the starter jewelry available. By this point, I knew I wasn't leaving without a piercing so I took my time selecting my new jewelry that would be attached to my face for the next 6-8 weeks and got it done. Everyone was SO kind. Anissa the piercer has been there for 8 years and was very good at explaining her process and answering any questions I might've had. The piercing area was very clean and I was able to watch her set up to ensure any anxiety surrounding germs and cooties would be wiped away with a sanitizing spray and cloth. It was a very simple process. I was probably in the shop for 10 (15 minutes MAX) and was able to walk out feeling like I had been reunited with an old friend. I will most certainly go back when it's time to change out my jewelry as I was very impressed with everyone's knowledge, kindness and love of my ridiculous cowboy tattoo. 10/10 would recommend to a friend, a coworker and a stranger on the street. read more

Went in for a third hole in each ear. Walked in and was helped right away. The young lady in the front was polite and friendly, the storefront was clean. The girl who did my piercings was very nice, friendly and did a great job. Room was clean and everything that was used on me was freshly packaged and sterile. The whole visit took about ten minutes. if i could give 0 stars i would. i've been getting pierced at this shit show of a business for a little over a year and a half. i got 4 piercings in total here & each time i got a piercing, i was "greeted" aka stared at and was only acknowledged after i said something first by their state of the art employees (sarcasm) each time i went in there, whether to get pierced or buy jewelry. they never cared to answer questions about piercings or healing processes or anything or why all 4 of my piercings got keloids even after doing every single cleaning process i was told to do& not sleeping on them. i went in there recently to buy a sea salt spray, during store hours. lights are all on, i open the door to be actually greeted this time, but rudely. i was screamed at by at least 8 employees saying "were closed" ... with the door unlocked and lights on. after telling them that they should lock the door if they're closed i was laughed at and screamed at again by all of their employees. this place will never receive my business again & should be completely restaffed with employees that care about their job and want to help their PAYING customers. this store is ridiculous, rude & run down. don't waste your money! read more

Great place to go if you're looking for a professional piercing done correctly. I have gotten my tragus, industrial, rook, conch, and belly button pierced at Way Out and would never go anywhere else for piercings. The piercers here really know what they are talking about and are willing to help you through any concerns you may have about being pierced. They also have a lot of other cool things like custom airbrush shirts and coloured contacts. I highly recommend this place! read more

I come here for my piercing and they've been very considerate of my low pain tolerance. I've gotten a helix and a repiercing done on the third one I have on my lobe. They use sterile tools and make sure they wear clean gloves and what not. So far I've only brought earrings for my helix and other lobe piercing besides the first one I got as a kid. read more
