The staff had called me to schedule the visit after obtaining insurance authorization, but when I arrived, I had been left off the schedule. While the office corrected the mistake and I was seen first, Dr. Lam appeared visibly irritated from the start. Despite having seen me only three weeks prior, he didn't seem to recognize me and even asked if it was my first time there. His tone was dismissive and unwelcoming; when I asked a simple question about over-the-counter (OTC) insoles as a backup for another pair of shoes, he responded, "If they helped, you wouldn't have to come see me," which effectively shut down the conversation. Communication was also unnecessarily tense. Despite knowing I understood both English and Cantonese, and having spoken Cantonese with me previously, he insisted on speaking English with a heavy, difficult-to-understand accent. When he finally switched back to Cantonese, it was with a noticeable frustrated tone while asking whether my insoles were removable--making a simple interaction feel unnecessarily uncomfortable. The assistant was great, and the staff handled the rest of my visits professionally, but due to Dr. Lam's attitude, I would not return. Ironically, I ended up trying OTC insoles on my own and found significantly better relief.

I was referred to Dr. Catherine Cheung last year and I'm not sure if my review here will ever express how happy I am with the results, the gratitude I feel with her care, understanding, superb knowledge and knowing I was in great hands. In our initial consultation, she told me I would need surgery for both of my "dancers feet" or aka bunion and bunionette surgery. I had ZERO hesitation in moving forward (first with my right foot) because she made me feel extremely comfortable, answered all my questions and the fact that my misaligned feet would feel and look so much better was a win win! Elena, assistant to Dr. Cheung and surgical scheduler is excellent. She responds quickly and was so kind to even send me all the links to the supplies I would need after the surgery! With a thousand additional questions I had she answered every single one of them with patience and kindness. A GEM! On the day of surgery I was so nervous. Thinking about being cut open and bones being broken GAH!! I was a bundle of nerves but Dr. Cheung came into the room with her zen presence - she was so calm and reassured me everything would be ok, made me laugh (I can't remember about what) but my nerves went down and I was ready! After the surgery she came in to check on me saying all went well - OF COURSE - and even after the surgery she was just an email or a phone call away! When the stitches came out, the scars healed and my foot therapy completed I nearly cried. Tears of JOY!! My foot looked SO pretty I would take pictures of it just to admire and send to my mom LOL! I just had my left foot surgery last month and again I cannot express the happiness I feel when I look at my foot. Dr. Cheung's hands and talent are like magic! If anyone has danced like I did or wore shoes too tight and suffer from "dancers feet" or bunions - GO SEE Dr. Cheung! The recovery is long but it's SO worth it. I began laser treatment on my nails with him and as many of those treatments showed no improvement he performed total nail avulsion (ripped nails out). Now my nails are completely ruined for life. I spent almost $2k with him and every time I see my nails I fully regret the day I met him. I would have been much better off had I not done anything to my nails. Don't be lured with his marketing and web site. Do your own research. Laser treatment doesn't work for most people - save your money. And, certainly don't have anyone remove nails unless it is causing pain or other issues. At the of the day, be wary of fast-talking doctors. This doctor is more interested in his own fitness, podcasts and buying real estate (just ask him or do a search online first). I'm sure he does well with older ladies out there who need someone to talk to, but now my nails are 90% worse than when I started. He really is a doc on the run.
