I have noticed several comments with people being irritated because they are not facing the mirror. One comment asked, "What's the mirror for then?" Let me answer that. The mirror behind the barber chair in connection with the back bar is a barber "tool," no different than shears, clippers, or the barber chair. It is used by the barber to get a perspective on the haircut from the back of the patron's head. It is easier to tell if the nape area is even when the barber looks back into the mirror, rather than trying to tell from just looking directly at the back up close. Most shops will have other mirrors in the shop for patrons and typically offer a hand mirror when the haircut is completed. As a barber of fifty years myself, this is the answer to those who are wondering why they are not turned toward it. By contrast, beauty salons are used to turning their patrons toward the mirrors, because longer hair usually does not need the same perspective from the back. First impressions are always a must, walked in to two Men on their phones wasn't that friendly, hair all over the floor from a lot of different clients, wasn't clean. We showed a picture of how we wanted the hair cut and he just went on and did his thing. Everything was uneven, not faded at all and all this in 5 minutes. What a waste of 20 dollars. Had to fix it up else where. Would I recommend this place? Not even if my hair was on fire. Run far and run fast! read more

I am normally not one to review places, this is actually my first ever review. I walked into this barbershop and it smelled like cigarettes, hair was everywhere, piled in the corner and on the floors. I decided though to take a chance because Wayne seemed like a nice man who may have just been busy. This was a huge mistake. I explained the haircut I wanted, I sat down and he started trimming but never actually touched my head. The blade never touched my scalp and I asked for a zero fade. I came here because the other barber shop I normally go to was too crowded. It was a mistake. Wayne, the owner and operator, is the person that clips your hair. I simply wanted shorter hair in the style I came in with. Instead of getting that, I left with uneven patches on my head. While you get your haircut, you also a seated facing away from the mirror. Essentially, you really are giving up creative control for how you hair should look. And at the price of $18 I don't think it's worth it. read more

Let me preface this post by saying, worst haircut I ever received, save yourself and don't go here. Owner an old army barber and probably hasn't gotten any formal training in hairstyles and is really sloppy. Doesn't take cash and starts cutting your hair before you can decide to go elsewhere. He doesn't really ask for input and gives everyone the same haircut. He also cuts your hair with you facing away from the mirror. What's the point in having that mirror there? I asked him like 3 minutes into this traumatizing haircut, to turn me around. He replied, "Sure thing, I'm pretty much done. I could honestly feel my hair getting fucked up as he was cutting it. He used the clippers on top of my head to cut the hair instead of using scissors, and when he did use the scissors it was haphazard and left me looking lop-sided. DON'T GO HERE, you can get a much more careful, clean, and stylish haircut for the same price. Once again, this guy gave me the WORST HAIRCUT IN MY LIFE. read more

Super easy and cheap. There's no point in setting up an appointment, just walk in, I've never seen a line of more than one. They'll talk to you if you want, or if you don't they'll just cut your hair. 15-20 minutes, $18. A little annoying that it's cash only but I make it work. Keep this place open! read more

A great barber, shaves your neck with a razor instead of just the trimmer, trims ups and evens beards. Quick, and a great hair cut. So much better than any chain I've ever been to. Wish he did a clean shave but not a deal breaker. Plenty of magazines to read and TVs to watch. Good barber shop conversation, as well. Bus stops right in front of the building. I've been looking for an old time barbershop and noticed Wayne's on my way to Frabonis. As the others have said it's a no frills shop, no franchise gimics, no fancy decor. Just an antique barber chair and mirrors. I told Wayne what I wanted done and he delivered. Used clippers on the sides and back and scissors on top, blended everything well. Finished my neck with a straight razor which you don't see much anymore unless it is someone with years of experience. Wayne told me he has been at this location for 35 years. Must be doing something right!!!! I was very satisfied with my cut and for 16 bucks plus a tip I found the pricing to be reasonable. I'll be going back. Good haircut, good conversation, what more could you ask for from a traditional barber shop???? Keep in mind he's a barber, not a so called "stylist" in a fancy salon.
