Don't get me started on color! There are wide variations of color even among the same type of rock. Take moss rock for example. It can vary widely from orange earth tones to darker brown and hot every shade in between. All of this variation brought me to E.D.S (it three letters; not Ed's). E.D.S has the absolute widest selection of any rock I have seen at one location. There are three locations in the Houston area. There's one in Katy, Kemah, and Southeast Houston on Dixie Farm Rd. We went to multiple businesses looking for the right rock. We kept coming back to something that we found at the Dixie Farm Road location. With all the variation in rock that I mentioned above, this is one area that I am not willing to skimp when it comes to picking the right color. I wanted something that was stackable and small enough that I could use it to outline my three flowerbeds in my front yard. I wanted a color that matched the brick and trim on my house. Of all the places I went to, EDS is the only one that had the color and selection that I wanted. They even had multiple pallets of what I wanted which allowed me to choose not only color but size of rock that I wanted. If you are purchasing a lot of rock, it is cheaper to purchase by the pallet load. I purchased two complete pallets and paid $.19 per pound. If I were to buy the rock loosely off the pallet and not purchased the entire pallet, it would be around $.25 per pound. Moss rock is the most economical and varies between $.13 and $.15 per pound. However, moss rock is not what I needed so I paid more and got exactly what I wanted. Like I mentioned above, there are some things that I will hunt for value and other things I want to get exactly what I need and not skimp on price. This is one of those times. You can also pay to have them deliver it to your house with a forklift. Price varies depending on where it's going. Bottom line - excellent selection of rock for your landscape needs.
