This site is a bit out of the way but we visited from Nashville. The house is set up in a beautiful flow to tell the story of a great American hero. This story of overcoming adversity will speak to anyone. The technological ease and accessibility could use some updating. The 'museum room' is a bit cluttered and the preservation of some of the preservation of the artifacts will make you cringe a little bit. But this museum is a labor of love and it is well worth the visit.

Honestly, it was the middle of the week but there was no signage of any kind saying 'closed' and nary a soul could be found on the premise. We walked around back and looked at all the various rail cars (several very cool, very old cabooses and a 51 year-old boxcar) in hopes someone would saunter by and give us the lowdown. But alas, we drove off slightly disappointed. The building is of Victorian design, having been built in 1888 by the Memphis/Charleston Railroad.
