Her arms were felt scratchy against my skin, and she kept using her elbows, which hurt. Even after I told her it was uncomfortable, she didn't adjust. Swedish massages are supposed to be soft and relaxing, but this was anything but. She finished early, leaving the room at 11:21, so I didn't even get the full 30 mins I paid for. I got dressed and when she never returned so I went to the front desk at 11:27, only to see her kneeling on the floor casually chatting with the receptionist. I've always booked online and had decent experiences here, but this walk-in appointment was a complete disappointment. There was zero relaxation; I left feeling more tense and irritated than when I arrived. It's definitely not worth the $50 (with tip), and I won't be coming back.

I have been to this spa many times before and have always had wonderful experiences with Vanessa. Unfortunately, she wasn't available this time, so I was scheduled with a different therapist. I have never had an issue here until this appointment. I booked this massage because I wanted to relax and get relief from tension in my shoulders, neck, and head. I never requested a deep tissue massage. Instead, the therapist simply started doing one without ever asking if that was what I wanted. Within minutes, I was wincing in pain and told her multiple times that it was too much. I also explained that I get migraines and prefer a gentler, more relaxing massage that focuses on my problem areas. Rather than listening to what I was asking for, she continued with an aggressive deep tissue massage over my entire body. She never once touched my neck or head as I requested, she focused entirely on my arms and shoulder blades. Instead of adjusting her technique, she told me I had so much tension that I needed to schedule at least 2 or 3 two-hour deep tissue massage. By the end of the session, she even instructed me to ice my body afterward because of how intense the massage had been. That alone should have been a sign that this was far beyond what I had booked or wanted. I came in hoping to leave relaxed, not feeling like I needed to recover from my massage. She also talked throughout nearly the entire appointment, which made it impossible to unwind. The combination of the constant conversation and the painful massage meant I never had a chance to actually relax. She also saw me wincing and said that, "sometimes, you have to do the work." I left sore for days afterward, and the massage ultimately triggered one of my migraines. A massage should be tailored to the client's comfort level and goals, especially after they communicate what they want and say they are in pain. Unfortunately, my requests were ignored from beginning to end. I'm incredibly disappointed because I've always had positive experiences here before. However, after this experience, I will never book with this therapist again.

I knew I needed something more than just PT or even a spa massage. I needed help sorting out the root of the issues and treating the whole body. Don't get it twisted. This is not a relaxing spa type of massage. This is what I like to call the torture but feels good afterwards therapy. I won't stay on a spot when I'm foam rolling if it's too painful, but here, I have to let go of that control and let them work through all the issues. They work the entire chain (it's all connected so if you're feeling pain in your back it could be from you neck and shoulders or even your glutes & hamstrings). Sports massage is not just for athletes, this will help anyone dealing with nagging issues or even to help prevent issues down the road. Though if you are wanting to perform better or feel better as you train, this is an absolute necessity and important self-care. I have worked with several of the therapists here, and they are all phenomenal in their own technique and style, so you can't go wrong with any of them. I especially love how they all consult with you first before going into the therapy so they can hear what's going on and treat you accordingly. There's no way I would have crossed that finish line last December or bounced back as well if not for the incredible team here. Nothing really has changed in that regard. COVID safeguards mostly seem to be gone now. I'm sure they still clean the rooms pretty carefully, and you are always free to wear a mask (or request the therapist wear one) if you wish. We continue to come back because they work out problems. I am able to walk properly because they found and fixed a knot in my foot, and they continue to work on my back, neck, and shoulders.
