In fact, it's kind of a not-so-awful experience. Now, that's a pretty good review for a dental office! Haha but here goes my real review... I came in for an emergency check up due to some pain, and the receptionist, hygienist, and doctor were all amazing. They were patient and attentive, and explained everything to me in detail. I immediately got on the 2 month long list to book my routine cleaning with them. In my defense, covid has been hard. I'd avoided going outside at all, much less any medical office, for the entirety of 2020. I was long overdue for a cleaning. Denise Denise Denise!!! The hygienist was nothing short of magical. She was friendly, calm, and amazing at communicating. She talked me through every single step she took and kept me comfortable throughout the process. I have to say, she was really 80% of why I'll be coming back. Dr Mansperger is great too - he made me feel very comfortable and was willing to answer all my dumb questions. He didn't make me feel rushed or silly, and gave very helpful tips on how to improve my dental care at home. I feel like everyone who works here has amazing chair side manner - I would highly recommend them. They are fantastic with nervous patients like myself.

I must separate the technical expertise of Dr. Rothstein from the administrative and cultural environment of The Smile Place. The 5-Star Dentist: Dr. Rothstein is exceptionally talented and kind. I came to him needing complex work done on a failed permanent bridge after a high school trauma left me without my front teeth. This is a very vulnerable situation, and Dr. Rothstein showed genuine compassion and the highest level of skill, successfully recreating my smile where others could not. If you are looking for cosmetic dentistry or complex restorative work, he is, without question, a genius and one of the best. The 1-Star Staff and Culture: The reason I am compelled to write this is the pervasive atmosphere created by the rest of the staff, from the front desk to the hygienists. While under Dr. Rothstein's care, I overlooked numerous instances of textbook passive-aggressive comments and behaviors directed toward me. As a patient, you quickly learn that getting in to see the doctor, who is truly excellent, takes priority over the unpleasant--and unnecessary--staff drama. It was always clear the office lacked soft skills and professional empathy. The Shocking Dismissal: The relationship ended abruptly and disrespectfully. I had scheduled cleaning appointments for my daughters in May to ensure they were seen before an insurance transition. When my daughters had an unexpected, time-sensitive conflict, I emailed the office the morning of the appointments to apologize for the inconvenience and cancel, and I immediately offered to pay the full cost of the missed slots. (By the way they are both young adults) Two weeks later, I received a certified letter formally dismissing me as a patient from the entire practice. After putting up with years of unnecessary passive-aggressive tension from the office staff, the ultimate irony is being fired as a patient via certified mail because my daughters missed their cleaning appointments--an inconvenience I offered to fully rectify financially. Attempts to reason with the front office post-firing were met with being ghosted. Final Verdict: Dr. Rothstein's talent is 5/5. The patient experience, from the day-to-day interactions to the final, shockingly cold dismissal, is 1/5. If you need great, cosmetic work and are prepared to tolerate a hostile atmosphere and risk being arbitrarily dismissed over a scheduling error, go here. Dr. Goodale's office was it from the moment I first spoke to the receptionist Jessica. She was friendly, patient and easy to understand, which is really saying something these days. When I got the the office and sat down with D for my x-rays, she was very comforting and communicative, laying out everything I needed to do and checking in with me throughout to make sure I was good. Then Dr. Goodale came in with great energy and an obvious desire to 1. explain everything extremely clearly and patiently and 2. make sure I was at ease and comfortable. She did my cleaning personally and took my request seriously for caution around certain sensitive areas. She even asked if I was cool with the music they had playing. And then to top if off she gave me the best cleaning I've ever had - my teeth are prone to staining so they were looking pretty rough after a year gap between my last dentist visit. I had even been told by previous hygienists they couldn't do much about the stains. Dr. Goodale got them so white my wife was actually shocked because she had forgotten I had normal teeth. Really can't recommend this place enough I just with that all healthcare providers treated their customers with such grace and empathy, not to mentioned good old fashioned skill at their profession.
