And that's when it took a path different from any other dental exam I've ever had. The x-rays were shown on a screen so that I could see them. Clearly visible was a large cyst at the base of my jawline, below my teeth. I'd experienced pain in that spot for two years but never understood why. I never mentioned it to the dentist because I didn't think it had anything to do with my teeth. The cyst was in fact an infection that developed after I'd had a crown improperly fitted to the tooth above it. Dr. Radwan removed the cyst and the tooth and put in an implant. The implant looks and feels perfect. And gone is the throbbing pain of that awful cyst. In addition to excellent dental work, I promise the service you will receive from all members of staff will be courteous, kjnd, professional - top notch in every way. This is the best dentist practice I have ever been to. I highly recommend it!

This was due to him not being able to locate the cause of pain, as he claimed he had filled all cavities and that it can take up to "two weeks for the nerves to not be sensitive" post-filling. Eventually, he said I might need a root canal. Well, after wasting an incredible amount of time and gas I ended up finding another dentist. They located the hole in my filling and filled it, as well as the other cavities. They told me that was the source of pain and that I definitely didn't need a root canal. I don't have the issue anymore, it was fixed in one visit with another dentist. I was also told I had periodontitis and would require deep cleanings every 3 months. This was also false, as confirmed by other dentists I saw shortly after. My teeth are actually in great shape. When I called them to get my records, they tried to tell me they couldn't "release" them to me. I ended up getting them anyway. Horrible team and staff. They're CON ARTISTS.

I then went to Nagpal Dental, my usual dentist, for a filing. She took a look, and I had no cavity. Jet Dental is incompetent. Nagpal Dental was honest, professional, understanding, and kind. It was supposed to be something like 60% off, so you can imagine what the actual charge would have been. They added on a lot of extra charges for exams and office visits and x-rays, but these were never mentioned on the phone. I have a regular dentist, I just went to him for an extraction. I really didn't need an exam, and only needed 1 tooth x-rayed. Funny though, when I put a claim in to my insurance company a week or two later, the charge was only $360 and they only got paid $270. My share, according to the claim was $90, but they only refunded me the $270 that the insurance company paid them. If I had been able to use my insurance from the start I would have paid $90, but because I had to file a claim a week or two later I ended up paying twice as much. I pointed out the mistake and asked them to fix the error, but they refused. What kind of professional office has to steal from their patients??? The quality of the work was not up to par either. He jammed in the novacaine, then the tooth next to the extraction started hurting. Less than 2 weeks later it broke. I had no problem with that tooth before I visited here! All in all, I'll pass on this office from now on!!!

The permanent retainer hurts my tongue and there suggestion of wearing my "night guard" during the day is ridiculous. As well, a new tooth has begun to shift back to its original place as the night guard does nothing to protect it. A third tooth has now shifted and is causing a dental issue that needs to be addressed. Pachter took a good chunk of money from me, promised results when the results weren't delivered pushed it on me for not doing things correctly and then on the program not being able to predict patterns and having to be adjusted to just not helping at all because I signed that I accepted treatment was over. Be very aware of stubborn teeth, future results and discrepancies in the treatment plan and do not be guilted into having them recreate trays or replace attachments that they prematurely take off. Had Pachter not attempted to avoid losing money because the computer didn't predict the way my teeth would move, perhaps my smile would not be reverted back to the place it was when I first saw them. Had they took the time to re-assess as well as not cared what it would cost them to fix the issue after I paid for their service, I may have turned out like the other success stories. Be aware as your teeth can place you into the same position I am in. For your sake I hope not, but if you are considering using them - find a different practitioner as they are not about the end result and success of all patients.

However, he talks so fast and assumes you understand everything he is saying at warp speed, I rarely know what he is saying about problems, treatments, etc. When you ask him to slow down or ask questions, he appears annoyed. He makes lots and lots of referrals for procedures (which he assures you he knows how to do, but would prefer you go elsewhere) and his referrals are in distant locations (CT, Harriman, etc.)-for folks in pain and with limited time constraints, this is impractical. Surely there are specialists in the MIddletown area who offer these services. His office staff is a nightmare. They lie, plain and simple. They will tell you whatever it takes to get you in the office, and then say "oh, she should not have told you that, we cannot do that, or that is not what she said" and make you think you are nuts. Gaslighting. Dentistry is expensive and I understand some of the reasons why. A good dentist is worth their fee. Dr. O'Brien charges more than average, in my experience, and not where I am going to spend my healthcare dollars.

I must separate the technical expertise of Dr. Rothstein from the administrative and cultural environment of The Smile Place. The 5-Star Dentist: Dr. Rothstein is exceptionally talented and kind. I came to him needing complex work done on a failed permanent bridge after a high school trauma left me without my front teeth. This is a very vulnerable situation, and Dr. Rothstein showed genuine compassion and the highest level of skill, successfully recreating my smile where others could not. If you are looking for cosmetic dentistry or complex restorative work, he is, without question, a genius and one of the best. The 1-Star Staff and Culture: The reason I am compelled to write this is the pervasive atmosphere created by the rest of the staff, from the front desk to the hygienists. While under Dr. Rothstein's care, I overlooked numerous instances of textbook passive-aggressive comments and behaviors directed toward me. As a patient, you quickly learn that getting in to see the doctor, who is truly excellent, takes priority over the unpleasant--and unnecessary--staff drama. It was always clear the office lacked soft skills and professional empathy. The Shocking Dismissal: The relationship ended abruptly and disrespectfully. I had scheduled cleaning appointments for my daughters in May to ensure they were seen before an insurance transition. When my daughters had an unexpected, time-sensitive conflict, I emailed the office the morning of the appointments to apologize for the inconvenience and cancel, and I immediately offered to pay the full cost of the missed slots. (By the way they are both young adults) Two weeks later, I received a certified letter formally dismissing me as a patient from the entire practice. After putting up with years of unnecessary passive-aggressive tension from the office staff, the ultimate irony is being fired as a patient via certified mail because my daughters missed their cleaning appointments--an inconvenience I offered to fully rectify financially. Attempts to reason with the front office post-firing were met with being ghosted. Final Verdict: Dr. Rothstein's talent is 5/5. The patient experience, from the day-to-day interactions to the final, shockingly cold dismissal, is 1/5. If you need great, cosmetic work and are prepared to tolerate a hostile atmosphere and risk being arbitrarily dismissed over a scheduling error, go here.
