I love supporting local businesses in my college town. I picked up some delicious pies from Sweet Daddy's Pies, some yummy treats from Bliss Treat Bar, and great soaps from Elephantine Mink Soap Co. as well as a lovely man selling goats milk soap - I didn't catch a business name. Such a lovely market! A must visit if you're from or visiting Tuscaloosa. They run the market on Saturdays and Tuesdays in June & July.

while visiting my grandmother, i went here with her and other family. sad to say that it was empty…read moreon a friday afternoon, i believe the only patrons were us and two friends at a nearby table. and i say sad because this is a very cute establishment with awesome employees. i was surprised that more UNA students don't frequent this place, as it's right down the street from the school. the inside is very ornate, decorated to mimic an english tea house. there is even a large cardboard cutout of the late queen of england. my family and i all got different things to try, but namely we got the signature enchanted moonlight tea, which was a black tea, akin to earl grey. we also got the tea of the month, which name is escaping me right now but i believe it was a rooibos. earl grey happens to be my favourite, so i liked the signature tea best. the food was nice, i got a simple cucumber tea sandwich and it hit the spot perfectly. i really liked the charcuterie board, too. the blueberry scone was phenomenal. unfortunately, by the time i tried this place, it was already on its way out. sad to see it go, wish i got to try it more times before it left. hopefully someone buys it for a similar spot pops up in its place!

As for the food, it was prepared well and appeared to be enjoyed by many in our group. Several people complimented their meals and seemed very satisfied. For me personally, the menu offerings and flavors were simply not the type of food I typically prefer. That's a matter of personal taste rather than food quality. Overall, I had a positive experience with the venue and service, but the cuisine was not quite my style. For that reason, I would give The Sanctuary on 25th a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Downtown Corinth, pronounced locally as Car-inth, has really taken off here of late. There is a…read moremajor facelift going on in a previously desolated area South of the railroad tracks. Two married couples bought a city block on Wick and Fillmore Streets. This area is now called SoCo (South Corinth). SoCo has a hip ring to it, but it seems out of place to me. The first thing I think of when I hear SoCo is SoCal (Southern California) and along with that association comes images of Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Waterparks, Legoland, SeaWorld and Zoos and a population of over 22 million. Corinth has none of these things. SoCo and the historical district offers unique specialty shops, business offices, restaurants, a stately and regal courthouse, churches, and the friendliest people you could hope to meet. SoCo area is taking on a classy look with new curbs and landscaping and the businesses that are moving in are more of the chic boutique types. I'm sure it brings in money from female shoppers, but the area really lacks in offering appealing choices to teens and men. This area, along with most of the town, really should invest in bike parking. The only bike parking available in the entirety of Corinth is at the public library and it offers a dozen slots. If SoCo is looking to be more modern and hip it should encourage healthier lifestyles via biking, walking paths, indoor activities for inclement weather (rock wall climbing, trampoline basketball and hacky sack come to mind). Corinth and SoCo have high ambitions to garner the attentions of tourists, but they tend to fall short of offering meaningful true entertainment for all ages. I'm sure the area will continue to grow at a steady pace, but if it desires prosperity it might need to open its mind to new and exciting ventures for the entire family. Get out of the pigeonholed food and boutique mentality. To Each Their Own.

It is a decent sized area that has nice seating and a small stage. The parking area is somewhat small, but luckily we were able to park next door and walk over. I will say for this hot summer day, I wish the Venue would've offered a few additional things: They didn't have enough shading. The only shad I noticed was under awnings and from the trees. I noticed that some of the picnic tables and chairs had umbrellas, but not all of them. Also I didn't see any misting areas and/or watering areas. They could do like they do at the ALABAMA games and have a huge cooler with the cheap cups and offer free water during events. Especially since this was an outside festival, water was definitely needed as I also didn't see where you could purchase water. Nonetheless, the Venue is a nice spot for events. I will have to look at their site to become more acquainted and see if they have any other events here.
