Let me start off by saying that Sam is a great person to work for. His kid brother who's the store manager (LOL) and Sam's (female) general manager on the other hand are not. You have a teenager (to my knowledge) who's never worked with adults before and his only concern was about counting the money in the safe and the ATM machine and going to the bank, never helping employees stock things, making coffee, stocking cups, putting out back stock anything of physical labor. But he's quick to condemn you if you're a one-man show trying to fill four different types of coffees and stock the coffee bar area, fill the cappuccino, vacuuming every 30 minutes, stocking the cigarettes, checking in vendors, dusting, all while cashiering alone. Most of the time they're huddled up in the office . On more than one occasion I've had to actually go back there in the office and ask for help because I've had 15 people in line ( people walking out), with three managers plus myself working. And hard work does not pay off. I went above and beyond every day that I worked there until after I found out that everybody got a dollar raise even the meth heads. They get to show up whenever they feel like it, no call no shows & theft with no repercussions. Let's talk about the "secret contract" as to why certain people get promoted while others who are not substance abuse users or coworkers messing around with other coworkers husbands get demoted and promoted again all in the same month. Again no repercussions. Because if you're not in the click, and are not indebted then you get treated like crap. Your hours get cut, I was spoken to about a promotion at another store (text message proof) but then got beat out by a girl who has no managerial experience (as I do) that owes the manager now for her car. And forget getting all the hours that you worked on your paycheck. They like to deduct the overtime pay ( when I first started) and put it on the previous week worked , where you received less overtime hours paid. Happened on every paycheck except the last one. There's so much more that I could post that I've not only seen for myself or heard straight from the horse's mouth. If I was Sam I would be wondering why all the people who weren't substance abusers QUIT. I think you need to be drug testing.....You can look a lot of your employees up on the PARKER COUNTY JAIL website. ( Just fyi.) I would fill in at one of their other stores on my two days off which were Wednesday and Thursday. But when I asked (general manager) why I got paid a dollar less to drive further and in cash. Then my hours were cut out completely and reduced at my main store. Without warning. I was doing them a favor helping them out because they can't keep help and now I know why. They have current employees who are robbing him blind (you ever wonder why your food bill is so expensive and your profits are so low) and yet nothing gets done. That's because "somebody" is covering for all of these employees. And yes they are on camera doing this. ( You should really watch your own cameras) I was told that also from the horse's mouth. I showed up everyday to work, on time, looking professional not like I rolled up out of bed. Only called in once and missed 3 days because of covid and was back at work because they needed the help. I very much agree with Ms. Shannon. I, myself, am also an ex employee and worked solely at the Mineral Wells/Rick Williamson location. They hired me in September/early October of 2022. I quit the week of Christmas due to how the store manager treated us. I had requested a weekend off (for personal reasons) and within the same week I had a family member pass away. This was also the same weekend that we were getting paid. Paydays are every 2 Fridays. That being said, the funeral of my loved one was on said payday (also the first day I had requested for my weekend), I went to said funeral and when I returned back to town, to pick up my paycheck, the store manager took it upon herself to hold my check in the office. I DID NOT ask for them to do so, bor did I tell them I wouldn't be back for it. She then told me I had to wait till 9:30 pm to recieve it because I had quote "not told the truth" about my plans. I have the texts to provide proof. I had to completely change travel plans according to this. My paychecks were also faulty as Shannon pointed out in an earlier review. Throughout my entire employment there, I worked mostly alone (the other main 2 personell were constantly on thier phones taking calls, going outside for smoke breaks, 'looking for other emplyees', or left for some hours at a time. I also have management experiance at other establishments of previous employers. I offered to work qt other stores they were managing, yet never got enough hours to be able to pay my said bills, and when I did get the hours, she combined both weeks together, rather than separate weeks. One pay period, the store manager said "the system would not let me put you in" and gave me a hand written check out of thier company checkbook and told me I had to go to the Shell location off of I-20 to cash it from thier registers. I had a personal talk with the same 19 year old manager in the office the day I ended up quitting. I told him that there were hard drug users that I was working with and it was effecting my personal life and now 7 year sobriety and I could not and would not allow it to affect me any longer. As he smiled at me during our talk, I realized that they didn't really care about thier employees well being and gracefully told them that my sobriety, personal life, and sanity were worth more than my employment there qnd clocked out. I am also a family members medical advisory and when I told them, they asked me to provide proof! I have found blood in the stalls from thier other employee and thier drug use, baggies of leftover meth, and wrappers/boxes of items/food the other employees have stolen as well as missing packs of cigarettes. I remember working one Sunday night and even the customers were concerned as they watched one particular employee tweak out while putting Christmas decorations up. One guy gave me a $5 tip and said he was sorry that I had to put up with that kind of behavior. NEVER will I EVER go back there, not even for my gas!! I've never felt so underappreciated or helpless in my life, and I used to be a CNA at a nursing home for alzheimers and dementia!! We stopped here for a fuel-up and a bathroom break while on a family road trip between Midland and Athens. Gas prices were pretty reasonable, to be honest I don't remember the exact amount per gallon for unleaded, since someone else took care of getting the gasoline. I went inside to use the restroom, which is a one-seater, but 2 restrooms. It was well-maintained, but there was still a line. I would still stop here in the future. read more
