The extraction went smoothly -- I didn't feel a thing. A week later, I went back for fillings with Dr. Whitney, who went above and beyond to make everything look flawless. Needless to say, I've been to the dentist three times in three weeks and already have a treatment plan to go back again -- and I'm actually excited about it! Honestly, as I write this, it is not very fun to recall, but I hope the Doctor will read this, and this will help future patients. Type of Care: Adult wisdom teeth removal Care Quality: To be absolutely clear, the doctor was excellent. The work he did was done very well, and there were no complications after the procedure. He was awesome and a great personality. Office Experience: #1 - walked in for the appointment, and they said we had canceled it. We never canceled it. People don't prep and show up on time for wisdom teeth removal appointments if they've canceled them. Their office staff had, from what we could decipher, been the ones who erroneously canceled the appointment on the same date and time that they had called us weeks earlier SOLELY for the purpose of telling us how much our out-of-pocket would be. There was no discussion whatsoever during the call about whether or not we were proceeding with the appointment. We were proceeding with it. The doctor, being a professional, thankfully managed to keep the appointment as scheduled. No problems there. Thank goodness, because who wants to prep and come back again to have their wisdom teeth removed?! Again, this doctor is very good! That leads to #2 - during that call weeks earlier, again the sole purpose of said call from them to us was to relay our out-of-pocket cost, the lady said the cost to us would be $50. $50. 5-0. We made them repeat that numerous times, and the lady said, "yes, great deal isn't it? Your insurance must be good! We'll see you on your appt date...Us: yes, we'll be there." Soon after the procedure, we got a bill for well over $1,000 out of pocket! After a lot of back-and-forth with the office and our insurance company, the cost came down to $900. In the end, this was the correct cost to us based on the way the office coded the procedure (coding...very impt factor - please take note) and what our insurance policy would cover. The office staff would not concede any miscommunication or misinformation on their part. It was both shocking and disheartening to be treated the way we were. So, just beware. Most important moral of this story is make sure you, as the patient, do ALL the research on how much your procedure might cost you out of pocket, because unfortunately, the office staff failed in that regard. You can't rely on their word. They do not know. They don't have any idea how the procedure might get coded, medically, in advance of it, and maybe the doctor and the nurses can't even predict that -- and that is what the office staff should have told us, but didn't. They should have been honest about what they knew and what they didn't, but they weren't. Their actions unnecessarily led to a lot of heartache, headache, and financial surprise.

After we exchanged a few words, I simply asked for a invoice of the treatment so I could get a better understanding, when I received my letter the envelope was ripped and scotched taped together with a post it note that read "fax as*hole". I would NOT recommended this place to anyone. Unless you love poor customer mixed with talking back employees who can verbally tell you anything.

The gum tissue in the upper left quadrant was greatly thinned out after this cleaning. Gum tissue does not grow back. I get food stuck in my mouth in gaps I never had before last May. When I floss the floss goes down far deeper especially in the lower quadrants. This was extremely anxiety producing and I am still traumatized by what happened. It took 10 weeks for the pain and sensitivity to finally go away after this cleaning. Previous to this I had good connective tissue. This was a trauma for me. She previously had to be placed under general anesthesia and intubated in the hospital setting to have 4 crowns placed. When she needed a tooth pulled that abscessed after trauma, our gen dmd recommended finding someone nitrous-capable because her anxiety and breakdowns prevented even the simplest routine care. We heard of Dr Rob via word of mouth and I made the appointment. He was amazing. This man just knows how to talk to children, the type with a natural talent. Within three seconds of walking into the room he established a report with my child and she trusted him... I mean from tears to smiles within moments. I was so relieved. I'm pretty sure he would have been successful even without the nitrous. In any which case, she left so happy. When she required yet another appointment to replace one of the crowns previously placed under GA, she walked right into his office with no hesitation. It was, again, a wonderfully positive experience for her. His office is the only healthcare setting she doesn't get nervous in. He's also fairly easy to get an appointment with. Typically they'd schedule me pretty far out and I would ask to call if there were any sooner availability. To my shock, this office actually does call when there's cancellations! Both times, I received a call back and was seen within the week. So don't be deterred if you get scheduled out. Just make the appointment and wait for the call.

Now, try to find a dentist for a 70-year-old mentally-challenged man who has known the Collins practice for that long.
