However sadly, Consumer Reports Magazine DOES NOT provide a buying guide with "tests" and "evaluations" of cabinetry or a cabinet "best buy" in cabinet categories with top quality for various levels of kitchen cabinet construction such as (1) stock production cabinets (big box store economy lines), (2) semi-custom (big box stores premium cabinet lines, i.e., with minor size customization options to better adapt cabinets to existing kitchen dimensional space, etc.) or (3) deluxe custom made cabinets NOT available at Big Box Stores. Also not evaluated by Consumer Reports are the custom makers themselves who actually build the cabinets in terms of personal individualized customer service, attention to detail, follow-up, quality of materials, quality of hardware, installation, price, etc. SO, WHAT DO YOU DO if you start out knowing nothing about cabinets, cabinet construction, custom cabinet builders in Ohio; are about to spend thousands of dollars still not sure of what you'll get in terms of quality and service, help in customizing your initial kitchen cabinet design, individual service; and you want SUPERB craftsmanship/top-end quality and expert extremely personalized service to meet your needs at a reasonable price from someone you can trust? Mike Pierce was excellent in creating the design and helping me select materials, colors etc. I am not good at doing that but I know what I like when I see it. Mike was able to understand what I was communicating and bring it to life. John Linder was assigned to do the work. He has a meticulous attention to detail and takes great care in his craftsmanship. He's not the fastest guy around but he will do the job right. In the end I would rather have right than fast. Our bathroom is my favorite room in the house now. It's my own little retreat.

We hired this company to replace our bathtub with a walk-in shower, which should have been a…read morestraightforward project. Unfortunately, it turned into months of frustration, poor workmanship, and broken promises. We signed the contract and scheduled everything in February. We were told the shower walls were already in stock, yet the installation didn't happen until the middle of May. That should have been the first red flag. The initial installation was a disaster. The shower walls were cut incorrectly, pieces were broken, there were scratches on the panels, and nothing lined up properly. The flooring was cut incorrectly to compensate for the poor installation, the baseboards were damaged, and even our ceiling ended up with scuff marks. It was obvious there was little attention to detail or quality control. After reporting the issues, communication was just as disappointing. It took about a week just to hear what they planned to do to correct everything. We were then told to expect another call within two weeks and that the repairs would be completed during the first week of June. That never happened. We didn't hear from anyone until the middle of June, extending an already frustrating experience. Even during the "repair," the problems continued. Instead of simply fixing everything correctly, I had to provide my own replacement flooring and baseboard trim because of the damage their installers caused. No homeowner should have to supply materials to repair damage created by the installation crew. In the end, the shower is in a satisfactory condition--but only after months of delays, multiple installation visits, damage to our home, and far more effort on our part than should ever be expected. "Satisfactory" is the best I can say. It certainly isn't exceptional, and it definitely wasn't worth the stress, inconvenience, or lack of professionalism we experienced. If you're considering this company, be prepared for delays, poor communication, multiple callbacks, and workmanship that may require you to advocate for yourself every step of the way. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them.

Peterman…read morePlumbing & Heating is the authorized AEP contractor they tell me for 47 counties in Ohio, and they repair about 10 of these units per week; I know from experience that over 3000 of these units were installed in just the Canton area about 27 years ago; I own a few of them at my rental homes. The guys that Peterman sent were knowledgeable, clean, efficient, and they replaced most of the parts that typically fail in 20+ years of service although only one part was actually defective. The pricing for both the parts and the labor was reasonable. The guys definitely know these water heaters and the office staff was most responsive in scheduling. Highly recommended.
