Was looking forward to playing what was once one of the best new courses in the country. It has really fallen on hard times!!! Virtually no maintenance. Sand traps have no sand and craters in them. We were there for the Mother's Day Brunch and it was nothing short of amazing!!! Our waitress, Ciera was so sweet and quick she made the visit even more enjoyable. Try the waffles. Let me just interject at this time, that I do not play golf. My family however, are clearly enamoured with the sport as I ate at almost no places other than golf clubs. The potatoe skins appetizer at this place are SO FREEKIN GOOD! They do potatoe skins differently in California than in Peoria. In Peoria they are much bigger and have more bacon. They give you five whole potatoe halves that are each delectably chock full of creamy cheeses and bacon and mashed potatoes, topped with more cheese and then you get to add the sour cream. I tell you I was in swine heaven! It took 3 days to eat them all and I shared them! Good Irish Coffees too. Nice bonus. read more

Restaurant service left quite a bit to be desired. This is an open to the public portion of the club that apparently closes RIGHT AT 9:00pm!!!! You will get your first warning about 8:45pm, your next warning at 5 til and then a VERY stern warning with the server not leaving the table until you stand up at about 3 minutes after the hour. Do NOT plan on lingering over anything and don't even think about arriving at 8pm to dine because you will probably not make the deadline of harassment to leave. I get that they want to close up but tables were still left to be cleared and the bar still had patrons seated so not sure why we had to chug wine under the watchful eye of the server but that will be an experience I will not be repeating. tl:dr: Lunch venue only. read more

Great find! I can't think of a restaurant with outdoor dining that offers a better view. Magnificent old oaks grace the balcony that overlooks the 18th hole of the golf course. Food is consistently excellent. The tuna steak, in particular, is exceptional. In the winter the ambiance is a nice cross between sports bar and hunting lodge with TV screens and a nice fireplace. read more

So we went in for a meal the waitress did not ask how our steak kabobs should be cooked. She brought burnt steak kabobs that were nasty. We told her and she shrugged and did nothing. She brought the check and after half an hour we had to tell the bar we needed our credit cards ran because she was too busy talking to people at the bar. At the end of the meal I said thank you and she said "yeap". Worst service I have ever had and we spent well over 100 dollars and it was just us in the eating area. Probably the best kept secret in Peoria! Wonderful setting ! Outside seating is a breath of fresh air. A country club without fees or dues! Great food and excellent service. Jerry and his team really go out of their way to make sure we are taken care of properly. Brandy made sure I had a chair that fit me, even though we are outside. The deck is wonderful during good weather. Parking is no problem and handicap is plentiful. The ribs are excellent as well as the prime rib. Friday nights bring out the free hors devours are ample tonight. My wife had salmon and it was perfect, even though we're in Illinois. We have been here several times and it is always clean . I was so surprised by how beautiful the interior of the club was and how nice of a place it was for lunch. There's outdoor seating and the views are very nice. Being that it is Weaver Ridge, the attire was golf casual/business casual. I wouldn't come here too dressed-down because it is a golf club. Service was nice and there were daily specials. Lunch was not as pricey as I thought it would be. My coworker had the tuna melt with shoestring fries, and said it was the best tuna melt in town. Now, that could be because tuna melt isn't a common menu item but she is a food aficionado so try the tuna out. The prime rib sandwich with steak fries were average but deliciously cheesy. My friend had a hamburger and was not impressed with what she got. I also ordered a French Onion Soup and a Peach Crumble. The French Onion Soup was so delicious. The Peach Crumble was a mess and tasted like one. I would definitely recommend Weaver Ridge for lunch and they have a Sunday Brunch buffet which I hope to try one day. read more

We went to the restaurant at Weaver Ridge for Mother's Day brunch and it was extremely disappointing. - we made reservations for 3pm for 4 plus a high chair and when we arrived, our table was not ready and they had no record of taking a reservation. The 4 girls standing around the host stand did not offer an apology and continued their side conversation while we awkwardly waited. - when we were seated, we were taken to a table with only half the place settings and water that was so old, all the ice had melted and it was warm - our server was GREAT -- I'm sorry I cannot remember her name because she was very sweet, prompt and was the only employee we did Not observe eating or gossiping with one another throughout their shift. - the brunch price was $26 but on Mother's Day, it suddenly doesn't include mimosa, champaign or any other beverages except coffee and orange juice. This is incredibly CHEAP on the part of the restaurant to take advantage of the holiday like that. . - I get that the restaurant stops seating tables at 3:30, but the food should still be fresh: everything was picked over and lukewarm by the time we sat down. For the price we were paying, I don't think "freshness" is an unreasonable request. No new food was brought from the kitchen the entire time, even the mostly-empty trays remained that way. - the atmosphere was so unprofessional: there was SO much employee chatter, it was disturbing. I used to waitress and I understand normal chatter here and there, but this was really over the top. And what's with the servers being allowed to dine from the buffet openly in front of patrons while still in uniform? Just bizarre, and the perception was that no one but our waitress took any pride in what they do. I see how Weaver Ridge is a great place to have a wedding, but to go there for any other reason is unfathomable. Peoria has such a nice burgeoning restaurant scene that I hope people will stop viewing Weaver Ridge as some great, "nice" place to eat and start dining elsewhere. The restaurant is resting on its laurels of when it first opened, it is so sad to see how downhill it has gone over the past few years. And on top of that, it's a total rip off!! read more

This course in its current state is not worth ANY price -- it is not hyperbole when I say this is easily and by far the worst conditioned course I've EVER played. I would write this off as an isolated incident brought on by this summer's unusually harsh weather conditions, but sadly the course was in equally deplorable shape when I played here in August 2011 (at that time the same pervasive problems were blamed on a mystery "fungus" brought on by overly humid conditions -- imagine, humidity in the Midwest!). I'm no agronomist, but if I had to guess I'd be inclined to think overwatering, not lack of rain is to blame for many of the course's problems. I do not envy any greenskeeper/superintendant charged with maintaining the standards of a "top 100" course in the current drought conditions, but in my 15+ rounds to date in spring/summer 2012, I've not played any single course more than once -- and not one other of those courses was even CLOSE to as bad as Weaver, despite all being located in equally rain-starved locales. In fact, until my two weekend rounds at Weaver, I'd yet to play a course anywhere this summer that showed even slight signs of drought or other damage. I honesly have NO idea how this place continues to rate on any "top 10/100/500" list of public courses anywhere. Its sad and borderline unethical that they voluntarily trade on a reputation so obviously undeserved. A harsh review, yes -- but I looked online everywhere before making my annual Peoria trip to see if the 2011 conditioning issues had been solved, and did not find any review (good or bad) indicating whether 2011 was a blip or a trend. Sadly, it seems to be a trend if not a permanent reversal of fortune. Perhaps very public and negative (but truthful) feedback is required if this once beatufiul course has any hope of recapturing its former (deserved) glory. All this said, the employees continue to provide exemplary service thorughout -- but its cold comfort in light of dropping $70-80 for the "privilege" of an otherwise awful playing experience. But I will not be coming back. read more

I am a little surprised about the poor reviews for Weaverridge. While I can't comment on the golf course, I am a big fan of going to brunch here. The food is delicious and there is sooo much to choose from. The waiters and waitresses are always nice and friendly. I love that they have a piano player which completes the great environment. I suggest you get there early on Sundays. They open at 10 a.m. You should get there at 10 and have reservations. By 11:00 a.m., it gets very crowded. read more

We came here for a rehearsal dinner last weekend. The atmosphere is really nice and well-kept, although the interiors are a bit dated. Our servers were quite unprepared and novice for a rehearsal dinner that was planned way in advance. They were high schoolers or perhaps young college students - not even old enough to drink yet - so they had no idea about the drink selection. They also rarely came in to check on us, which was annoying since they had forgotten one person's salad at my table. The food was mediocre. Our salads were iceberg lettuce with a few random veggies on top. The rolls were plain white rolls. There was no vegetarian option, so I choose the pasta entrée without the chicken. It was simple white pasta with a fatty white sauce. Inside the sauce were artichokes and mushrooms. The mushrooms seemed to be fresh (not canned), but the artichokes were only half-cooked, so some were very chewy. In all, I think the 3-star review is generous. read more

This course got a really bad rep judging by the other reviews. Since I am from out of town and an avid golfer, I had to come here. It's been mentioned in a few golf magazines over the years that I have read, so I gave it a shot. I really enjoyed myself. There is a ton of elevation change and dimension to this course that I think is pretty rare to find in Illinois. It was very difficult, I found myself hitting out of bunkers probably 8-10 times, lost a few balls on blind shots, and hit a few roofs (luckily not windows). The greens were in good shape, and easy to read though I thought. All in all I thought this was a great little course with a friendly staff, and to top it all off, they had a great deal going considering it was 78 degrees the day I played. I don't reckon I will ever come back to Peoria, but if I do, I'll be playing here again. read more

My wife and I had our wedding reception here in June of 2013. I don't think either of us could have imagined it being more perfect than it was. The overall price is competitive with others around town, and is probably cheaper than even the most upscale venues. We were in the upstairs room and had around 250 guests. Staff - Scott Roher is the wedding/event coordinator, and he was very accommodating with all of our requests (and trust me there were many). He returned emails in a timely fashion, met with us on several occasions and worked very well with our wedding decorator. The bartenders and wait staff were polite and professional. The rest of the staff that were there to set up the night before and that morning, all went above and beyond to help our decorator. Food - We sampled a few entrees beforehand, and all were great. We ended going with the Chicken Marsala, green bean medley and Duchess potatoes. Everyone we talked to loved the food. The portions were plentiful and the presentation gorgeous. Room - We had around 250 guests and the room size was perfect. Our decorator had worked with Weaver in the past and had some great ideas to utilize the space. We didn't have tables on the dance floor (right in front of the bar) but I'm sure we could have fit 50 or more guests within that space. The deck outside is a nice area to have as well. We didn't have a bar setup there, but that could be a nice option. Golf - For those questioning the golf course, I can tell you firsthand it's in great shape. We played the day before the wedding and had a great time. I've played there many times before, and it's beautiful. Our photographer took us out on the course before the reception and got some great photos as well. Overall - We were so glad we decided to have our reception here. The compliments we received from our guests were better than we could have imagined. Everything about this place is top-notch. The employees are professional, courteous and hard-working. Bottom line, we highly recommend having your wedding here. It was a day we'll never forget, and we owe a lot of that to the Weavers. read more

Over the past weekend a group of us decided to change our plans of heading to Wisconsin (rainy forecast) and decided to go to WeaverRidge. To truly explain what a great experience I had I need to start from the initial phone call. On Wednesday I called the pro shop. The young man that answered seem as enthusiastic as can be. I told him about a group of 6 guys that were interested in coming down to play 36 he got us all taken care of for two tee times then explained that the summer had been tough on the bent grass but we would still have a great time. The drive down friday night was not as long as expected about 2 and 1/2 hours. New to peoria we did some research and found that this town had lots of great nightlife. After a great night our tee time was at 9 am. The morning came and we had plenty of time to make it to the course. However directions from the older GPS were a little off. I then contacted the course to ask for directions and tell them we were running late. The young man told me not to worry about it, to just get there when I could, and gave me very accurate directions. Once we arrived at WeaverRidge we were immediately greeted by a staff member, he then quickly loaded our bags onto carts and told us where to check in. No sooner that I walked in the door to the pro shop a booming voice hits us with a "Welcome to WeaverRidge. You must be my 9 O'clock" And then he goes on to tell us all to "relax and that everyone that is here should have fun." He gets us checked in and explained all of the course conditions. Now we are ready to go! I recently read that WeaverRidge was not a good course. Whomever wrote that review is entitled to their own opinion however may have never played golf. Our experience of the course was great, The greens were very fast. Probably close to 11 or so. The bunkers were nice and groomed. The only damage we saw from the summer heat was on hole 12 and a few teeing grounds. The layout was awesome. The course was very user friendly. Elevation and risk reward. Its is one of the best courses we had ever played. Most of the players in the group have played all over and all agreed that they had never had as good of an experience that the staff at WeaverRidge provided. We cant wait to go back!! read more

Champagne brunch was nice enough, but the management and staff clearly do not care about the guests coming for brunch, There were two golf carts parked in front of the main entrance when we arrived, so I could not drive up to the door to drop off my elderly mother, There was another one parked in the front of the door when we left. We have been to Weaver Ridge to eat Lunch during the week as well as Sunday Brunch many times. We always get real good Tasty Food, Great Service and wonderful Atmosphere. The waitresses always have a big smile and are eager to make your visit a very good experience. The Sunday Brunch has a large selection of Food which is arranged very nicely. I finally had a chance about a month ago to play 18 holes of golf at Weaver Ridge Golf and Country Club. That is the finest Golf Course that I have ever played on. The course has the very best views of any played any where. The Grounds Keeper has done a excellent job on the Fairways, the Greens have been kept up and laid out very well even though it was late in the fall of the year they were in nice shape. The Club House, Pro shop were very beautiful as well. While there I enjoyed a great meal with wonderful food and the service was great. They all made you feel very welcome to be there. read more

Over-priced and the staff are idiots all they do is talk and not get the orders right. The table tops always have left over food on them. Picture this, you are being seated at a table and the waitress is there and you ask her to wipe the table down because you can see the food from whoever sat at the table previous and they wipe the table off and leave it with water marks from a rag that was not properly rung out. There are patrons intoxicated at the bar while our family tries to eat and gets rowdy and raises their voices while the individuals having dinner have to yell over the top of them to hear the table conversation. I believe taking your business would be more suffice verses paying $80 for a meal to hear intoxicated men sit at a bar drinking and hearing them arguing who is paying for the next round. read more

I played Weaver Ridge this past Friday. Growing up in the Peoria area, I have played Weaver a few times in the past and that is why I wanted to go back. The only reason I chose to go this past Friday was that they were only charging $69 for the round. Usually it is more like $85-$90 and this course is not worth that money! From what I experienced during this last round, it is not even worth $69. I felt ripped off. The greens were horrible. We are experiencing a drought in IL but you would not know it by Weaver's over-watering of the greens. They were spongy and roped off on a lot of sections and it was just bad. Ball marks were everywhere. The sand traps were horrible. The fairways were bad. This course has gone way down hill since the last time I was there. I will not be returning for any price if this is what I can expect. I can pay less at a place like Lick Creek or Metamora (which is fairway only right now) or go to Bloomington/Normal and get a better golf experience. Weaver Ridge seems to be living in the past and trading on its name. read more
