I remember going into our local hardware store with my dad back in the 60's. Whatever was broken, he could fix with the right materials. Weaver's Ace feels nostalgic to me. Helpful people. Always pleasant. Lots to browse, but not overwhelming like big box stores. I especially love their line of specialty cleaning supplies. Recently purchased beeswax to revive an old wood table. Truly one of my favorite stores!! read more

I live nearby and went to this store to get a copy of my mailbox key made. The guy I took it to went over to the key wall and was trying to match up keys and looked lost. He had another tenured employee come over and he couldn't figure it out either. They just handed my back my original key and said sorry. I left annoyed, it was just a standard mailbox key. How could they not have a match for that??. I went to a local general hardware store near my parents house. When I walked in there, I was immediately helped, and he created 2 copies of my mailbox key within 30 seconds. He said the guy at ACE either didn't know what he was doing or didn't want to be bothered because it was a Friday. I'm done with franchise stores, nothing but mediocre service for the simplest things. read more

Absolutely the most customer service oriented store I have ever been in.Friendly,Helpful,Knowledgable,Smiley, Corgible,etc.,etc.Every time I am there it is a pleasant experience. The employees act as they are the owner. With ther selection and prices WHY would you ever go to one of those big box stores? (try alley #9).If they do nothave an item in stock they will gladly order it for you no matter how obscure. Try that somewhere else.( Oh sorry, we only get one train load of fertilizer per year!) We have been going to this store ever since we moved here 10 years ago. It's close, convenient, and we always felt the employees were courteous and helpful. We've spent a considerable amount of money here, as we are constantly needing something, from bags of bird seed to painting supplies, tools, and more. I was doing some painting in our home recently, and although the man in the painting department was quite knowledgeable about what we needed to do the job, I felt his flirting was not only uncomfortable, but unprofessional, as well. But, my main complaint is about what happened the day I went in to purchase a couple more gallons of paint, and some other painting supplies. When it came time to pay at the register, I noticed a pile of coupons sitting there. They were for a sale that was coming up in two more days. It said "Buy 2 gallons of paint, and get the third one free". So, I said to the cashier that maybe I should wait and come back when the sale starts, because I definitely was going to need more paint, even though I had already purchased 6 gallons prior to this day. She said I couldn't do that because the paint was already mixed. And I said that only one of them was actually mixed, and it wasn't like I wasn't coming back to get more anyway. She ignored my reply, and continued ringing me up as if I hadn't even started this conversation. So then I said that they should cut me some slack, and let me have the sale price early, since I've already spent quite a bit of money already on all this paint, and we have always done a lot of business in there, almost on a daily basis. She continued to ignore me, and told me to slide my card. In the meantime, I looked back at the end of the line, and there stood the man from the paint department, with a big grin on his face. I held up the coupons, and looked at him with a question-like face, meaning why didn't he mention this sale coming up to me when I was at the paint counter. All he did was smile and nod. I'm sorry, but that was probably the rudest thing I've ever experienced from two employees in one store! It wouldn't have hurt him to give me a head's up about this sale, and felt that my business is unappreciated in every way. Maybe if he wasn't so busy flirting with me, then he might have thought to let me know. I've never been so humiliated! If I hadn't already swiped my card, I would have just left my purchases right there, and walked out! Needless to say, we won't be doing our business any longer in the Douglassville Ace Hardware store! It's worth it to us to travel to Home Depot or Lowe's where our business is appreciated, and we're treated with respect!! read more

I looked over your sales brochure and saw a coupon for 25% off any regular priced item. Your brochure also listed a promotion on bird food to buy one bag at the regular price and get one bag free. So I made the 10 mile trip from my home to your store, only to encounter a sales clerk who refused to honor the coupon, saying that the BOGO is essentially a sale price. I disagreed, saying that the first bag is at its regular price, hence it is a promotion, not a sale. She continued to disagree, so I asked for the store manager, Mike. He came to the register and also stated that the bird food was a special sale. I told him the sign clearly says "Buy one at the regular $12.99 price and get one bag free." The coupon says it applies to regular priced merchandise. He took a hard stand and declined to give me the ~$3.00 discount. So I let him keep the 2 bags of birdseed and my coupon, telling him to give the coupon to someone who might revisit the store in the future ... which I assured him would never be me. I live very close to 2 "Big Box" home improvement stores, so driving to the Douglassville store is an investment in time (and gas money). Totally alienating a middle aged customer with MANY years of future purchasing power for a mere $3.00 was, in my opinion, a very foolish managerial decision. Helpful staff - Not so much! read more

The best hardware store ever .. where you can always find someone to help you without searching a hundred aisles for a live person!

I have driven 20 minutes to get to this store for the past 6 years, primarily to purchase paint. Today I took my son to pick out paint colors and was met with the rudest person working at the paint color. While looking at colors with my son, he starts talking to my son that he should only pick 2-3 paint samples and take them home. We had about 12-16 different blues, blue-greens, blue-grey, etc. This is what happens when a 10 year old believes that peacock blue would look amazing on his bedroom walls, and you have no idea which color will match curtains, bed, carpet, etc. I didn't care about his comments to my son until he told me that we should "leave some for other customers". Excuse me? I explained I had driven 20 minutes and bought paint in this store for years and never had someone to tell me to only take 2-3 paint samples. Perhaps Mr. Interior Designer does better on picking colors than my track record. I had a person at a paint counter once send me home with a bag of samples, but this guy says we can only take 2-3 cards? It wasn't until I told him that I would be happy to leave his paint samples for his important customers and leave this Yelp review that he backed down and said he made a mistake. I left about 3 minutes later, stopped by another store on the way home, and got at least 20 paint samples from someone who was happy to have take them so that I would buy their paint. I will no longer be driving 20 minutes out of my way to visit this place. read more
