The reason i gave the school only 4 stars is the bfst/lunch program. I think if you're in elementary school and given the choice of chocolate milk or white milk you're going to choose chocolate. And the juice should not be a fruit choice. What is wrong actual fruit? And less sugary cereals need to be on the menu as well. And where is Michelle Obama's school lunch program? Heavy sugar, trans fats and carbs are not good for anyone. Please, no plastic food for our children.

I live a mile away from PHMS and take care of her while mom is at work. I went to the TSMS office and reserved a spot for the 2017-18 school year. I told them my intentions. The Principal's office was within hearing range and Mrs Giles came out to talk to me. She wanted to give me information on TSMS and I was all ears! #1 She made the effort to come out of her office to talk to me. #2 She gave a brief history of the school; the good, the bad, and the ugly! #3 She showed true enthusiasm and caring about the students and bringing the school rating up! I told her she just gained another student AND another parent volunteer who will support and help get the school the A rating it deserves! Because of Mrs Giles, I am now a Level 2 PCS Volunteer. I am on the School Advisory Committee and the PTSA. To date, My Granddaughter has reported back-to-back Honor Roll status AND is active in the Girls Chorus. She's made a lot of new friends and loves the fact that her "Pops" supports her and the other students at school. I loved my career but this volunteer gig is the most important opportunity to me and, obviously, to my Granddaughter! When we get A rating, I'll go FIVE STARS! Go Spartans!

The kids learn to be kind, not just towards other humans, but to animals and life as well. And they serve homemade plant-based lunch! It's an absolute dream school I wish I had attended when I was a kid-- at least now I can gift the experience to my children. The future generations will benefit from going to this school w its gardening program, veterinary training, culinary program, robotics and 3D printers, etc. Critical thinking, empathy, and exposure to the old and new educational systems are all delivered here for kids w special needs and the gifted and everyone in-between. I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this school. My son attended this school…read morepreviously, and unfortunately, I feel that he was not given the academic support and preparation he needed. Throughout his time at this school, we were consistently told that he was an "A student" and that he was doing very well academically. However, when he started at his new school, it became very clear that his academic performance did not reflect what we had been led to believe. He was significantly below grade level and struggling with basic skills that he should have already mastered. Now that he is at his new school, he is receiving D's and F's, and we are having to work extremely hard to help him catch up. As a parent, it is heartbreaking and frustrating to realize that these academic gaps were not identified or addressed earlier. I understand that every child learns differently, but schools have a responsibility to accurately assess students' academic progress and provide support when they are struggling. Calling a student an "A student" is not enough if the student is not actually mastering the skills expected for their grade level. My son was promoted without having the academic foundation he needed, and unfortunately, we are now seeing the consequences. I wish we had been given a more honest picture of his academic abilities sooner. Parents deserve transparent communication about their child's progress and whether they are truly prepared for the next grade level.

The IAs ride the bus at this school, but are rewarded with coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts around vacas. This school has Headstart, pre k VE, AND a huge ESE building with all elementary ages catered to. The programs are new and up to date with equipment and knowledge. Very cool playground for the intermediate grades that adds a great amount of exercise. I have never seen such a dedicated cafeteria staff! Rock on, Northwest!

Check the faculty/staff is it still at zero diversity! The fakest friendly environment I've ever encountered. My child was called the N word here. Bought it to the school personnel attention. The principal told me no one else heard it. I hated this school and realized why people end up withdrawing after one year. The education level was not as presented either. No support services to help improve my child's reading comprehension. The red flag was when they told me he was reading on level when he clearly was not. Left this school and FSA testing again proved he was not. Good Luck. I've learned to know check for diversity not just in student body but in the staff.
