absolutely TERRIBLE!!!! I have not been able to maintain a relationship with an agent for more than 1 insurance cycle. Every year, when I try to review my policies, a different new agent has been assigned to me because the previous has "left" (suspect this company can't keep agents on for more than 6 months)! I asked my auto policy be reviewed b/c the rates kept increasing despite an untainted record and me with the same company for over 6 years: nothing was done. I emailed countless times without responses. I called several times during regular weekday business hours and never got any responses. THis agency is one of the worst businesses I have dealt with since moving to W Mass in 2018. I advise you to go elsewhere! read more

Ghosted me totally. I was new in town and needed to move over my Safeco auto and renter's insurance--they are on Safeco's list (as an Alero Group agency). They told me to send my auto documents, which I did, and someone would contact me to work with me. I didn't hear back after a few days so I called them to follow up. They couldn't find my email and documents and weren't sure which office it went to (both offices use the same phone number and email). They said they would figure it out and get back to me. Crickets. Nothing. You'd think they'd want a new client. I'd avoid this company if you want customer service. read more

These people are FRAUDS and LIARS and should be avoided at all costs!! Here is my experience: When I signed up for car insurance I was quoted a figure and then I saw that I was being charged significantly more. I called and was told that the agent had made a mistake but there was nothing they could do about it, so too bad for me. After a year, my rate was raised again by the insurance company. I tried to work with my agent at Webber and Grinnell to adjust the rate. I got nowhere, so I advised my agent that I was going to look elsewhere. I was never told about any "short rate" penalty and my agent encouraged me to cancel my insurance if I could find a better rate (which I was easily able to do). I was then charged almost $500 for only 5 weeks of car insurance because of this penalty! I tried to get my agent to advocate for me with the insurance company but I received no assistance and was routinely ignored and treated dismissively. I am now stuck with a huge bill. I am in the healthcare field and clearly the way Webber and Grinnell shows appreciation to frontline workers during a pandemic is to screw them over. My STRONG advice is to get your insurance somewhere else. read more

When I purchased homeowners insurance through this company, the agent recommended that I add water damage and mold/fungus insurance coverage to the policy. I didn't think I'd ever need it but it didn't cost too much so I went ahead and did it. Boy, was I thankful when we had a leak that caused thousands of dollars of water damage and, in the process, uncovered previous mold/fungus damage, which was also covered. read more

Called and spoke to an agent about insuring my house and automobile. She said she was about to leave on holiday vacation for a couple of weeks. OK, two weeks were up and no call from the agent. Wrote the agent an email. Still no response. Finally, wrote one of the higher-ups by email. No response there either. What kind of company is this that doesn't even respond to chance for business? It's a waste of my time, if not theirs. read more

I had a mediocre experience receiving an HOI quote from Webber & Grinnell. I used their online contact form and conducted my conversation about the options purely through email. Although the quotes were competitive and the person I emailed with was professional and reasonably prompt (24h or less), I felt that they did not do a very good job answering my more complicated questions. I tend to be very meticulous about understanding the fine print of policies, and I was not satisfied by the level of communication I got in that regard. I also would have enjoyed a better effort being made to understand our individual needs. For someone who has fairly standard insurance, and who tends to not want to worry about digging into the details of a quote or policy, however, I would be OK recommending they consider Webber & Grinnell. read more

It's an insurance company, so I don't expect much. However, the people there are unprofessional. I dislike being called by my first name when conducting business. In fact, I use my initials, and "Lisa," one of the agents, decides to call me by my initials. I asked her to call me by my last name because I am uncomfortable being on a first-name business with my insurance company, mortgage lender, bank, and so forth. So, what does this woman do? She sends me a letter with only my first and middle initials in the salutation. Rude, disrespectful, passive aggressive, petty. She, like many others, is simply childish and unprofessional. I'd take my business elsewhere, but what would be the point? This woman and this business seem to be typical of what America has to offer in business these days. read more

I have tried them twice now, and both times have led to me getting a lapse in coverage on my record for no reason. A lapse basically means that insurance companies can then charge you whatever they want, it has doubled my rates and I am a mature driver with a spotless driving record. It then takes about three years to get your record clean and be able to go back to normal rates. I had previously been with Geico and was looking for a lower rate. There was some overlap between buying my new car and selling the old so I just got a new plate and insured the new car through W&G. I was trying to do things by the book, paying to keep the old car registered and insured even though it was just sitting waiting to be sold. Once it was sold I deregistered the old plate and informed Geico the car had been sold and I no longer needed coverage for it. The only way I know there is a lapse on my record now is because after getting a new quote from W&G this year for another car I was shocked at the increase and went to a local agency in person for a quote. They were the ones who told me about it. W&G is apparently happy to just charge me over 2x higher rate without ever disclosing to me why my rates have gone up, or look further into it to see I did not actually have a lapse. I have no idea who put the lapse on my record or what steps I was supposed to take to avoid such a thing happening. They neither informed me when I switched to them or now when I am looking to insure a new car. When I asked actually my agent just blamed it on the new car. It's 8 years old and one of the safest brands in the world so I could not see it more than doubling my rates. My agent is very slow in responding, getting quotes and communicating has been frustrating. The receptionist never just puts me through I always have to leave a voicemail. It takes her 2 days to get back to me each time, either by phone or email. They do things alphabetically and my last name happens to start with probably the most common letter, so she may be overtaxed but that is not my problem as a customer. Maybe they should split it up between more agents? When I informed her I was going to another agency for a quote as well because I had not heard back from her she finally responded and said I would need to fill out a form if I switched and threatened me saying my rates might go up even more for switching agencies "midterm" even though my current car is paid in full through the year. I'm really dissappointed in the service and treatment they have given me. There is no helpful attitude and I am made to feel like an annoyance for asking questions and requesting different quotes. I'm going to call and ask to speak with management on Monday to give them one last chance, will see how that goes. read more

I had an excellent experience purchasing insurance through Webber & Grinnell. While I haven't had to file a claim, so I can't speak to the responsiveness and professionalism of the process (I will update my review if that happens), I did have a positive experience with purchasing coverage. When I first moved here, I visited some of the "high-end" insurance carriers (because service is one of my priorities) and had terrible experiences. On a whim - I was driving to the co-op - I stopped here after a previous company's agent had freaked me out that we had a fictitious at-fault accident. I was fairly distressed, so Sarah took me right back. She was professional, competent and laid out exactly the steps to confirm this wasn't the case. When I decided to purchase a policy, I went right back to her. The policies were priced competitively and contracted with a secondary company that has an A+ with the BBB. Aside from a typo in the records and discrepancy between the payment schedule she sent me and that of the company, everything has been smooth sailing. An unprofessional and passive aggressive staff makes this place easy to avoid. I make it clear I like to be called by my last name when conducting business. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I ask politely simply because I prefer to be on a last-name basis in all professional contexts. Well, the passive aggressive woman who took offense decided to send me correspondence with nothing but my initials on it. I use my first and middle initials instead of a first name and I always use my last name, of course. I didn't ask her to call me by my initials, but she wanted to make a childish point and let me know she'll call me whatever she wants. read more
