This store made my week! I had been to numerous shops, hunting for a specific fabric. A very friendly woman asked if she could help me find something, so I thought I'd ask! All I had was a photo of the fabric I needed. I didn't catch her name, but this woman found the name, maker, and number for me! She made my week! Although the store didn't carry it, she still went out of her way to make sure I got my information!! The store is stocked with great fabric, awesome patterns, and great people! There are plenty of patterns, far quarters, notions, batik, blenders....but one's presence seems a nuisance ti the staff.

This quilt shop always has everything I'm looking for and more! Their batik selection is unmatched. The blender fabric selection they carry is more extensive than any shop I've visited. They carry the latest fabrics and sewing notions. The staff is very fun and friendly, which makes a visit so much fun. They are also so willing to help with figuring out a pattern, ruler or gadget. This store is well-stocked, and it has a great fat-quarter selection. I go in because it is close by and usually has what I need, but it is just so....unwelcoming? You get the feeling that you are entering an exclusive club that allows the public to purchase. My last trip in, one girl was at the cutting table making fat quarters and checking out customers while the rest of the staff was gathered in the back room chatting (not a formal meeting). She was accommodating enough--no complaints. I certainly don't have an issue with friends sharing their quilt show experiences and purchases, but when a customer comes in, they should be greeted and approached, not ignored. This is not an isolated occurrance. Nearly every time I go in, I feel like I'm on my own, and they are happy to see the intruder leave. It's just a weird vibe. My last trip I brought in a list and left with only what I needed without browsing for other projects. I went to a friendlier shop further away. Shopping for a (serious) hobby should be fun and even a bit of a social experience. read more

Drove out to get a much-needed thread. No one spoke to me at all and I was there for about 30min. No "Anything that we can help you find?" Nothing!! There were 3 or 4 adult employees in the store and a couple of girls on their phones, sitting at a table in the back. Chit chat was going back and forth between the groups. I asked a question of a lady at a cutting table and I got a short reply without even a glance in my direction, then she waved toward the back room to indicate where I'd find blender fabrics. I get Debra R's comment from Nov 2024--- It feels like you entered an exclusive club that allows you to be there. I found a few fabrics, but put them back and just purchased my thread. I brought it up at a gathering of quilting friends and got similar experiences, but not everyone. This isn't the first time it's happened to me here, either. The shared sentiment seemed to be that our choices nearby these days are limited. Ugh!! read more

If you want a large selection of fabrics to choose from, this is a great find. They make their own matching fat quarter bundles unique to this store and sell them for a fair price. BEWARE! Too Many Temptations! Friendly Staff that don't hover. This is the most dangerous fabric store I've been in since visiting my sister and shopping in Yoder's in Indiana! So many top brands (big selection of Grunge), the latest for appliquers, tools, prints, colors, precuts, threads. I spent way too much & did not get through the whole store! My sister & I both agreed we'd have to work our way around the back room next time. The ladies there are friendly, helpful but don't hover. Easy to find - especially with GPS - lots of parking. Also - they give a 10% off coupon for lunch at Magnolia's. A great treat. read more

I love love love this store! They have just about everything you could possibly need to make beautiful quilts. They have a large beautiful array of individual fat quarters so no need to even have to buy yards of every fabric you might need. They also have a nice selection of fat quarter bundles. Their fabrics are all high quality. I have had wonderful conversations with all the employees including the owner of the store. They have been friendly and very inspiring. They are very interested in anything I might be making. I am a newbie to quilting and this is my favorite quilt shop because they have been so helpful to me. Wont return here. I love quilting and love to see what's available to get ideas. I went here looking for wall hanging panels and they had a few folded up here and there. The store was crowded, fabrics jammed together, but i was treated rudely. I went specifically to buy something because i wanted a project and had heard this was a good shop. This store has a very nice variety of fabrics and sewing supplies, and you will pay top dollar for everything. I went in with my quilt top in hopes of finding fabric for the back and binding. The lady who helped me was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping me choose "just the right fabric". Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the other two women working there that day who seemed bothered that I sought their expertise. Upon checkout, I learned the lady who was friendly and helping me was a 4 week old new employee, which may have explained her fantastic demeanor in comparison to the others. I don't mind paying more to support local business, but I refuse to spend my money at a local retailer that makes shoppers feel unwelcome. I may have to go to a QA (quiters' anonymous) meeting after coming here. Unbelievable selection of fabrics, patterns, and gear (including any ruler you might need) and excellent customer service. If you are a quilter or sewist who seeks high quailty and are willing to pay for it, put this shop on your list. And Purcellville is a lovely town with some great restaurants and shops. These folks are professional and incredibly easy to work with. I think their customer service is outstanding. They assisted me over the phone to look for a specific fabric (that is discontinued) and follow up assistance via the phone and mail. Horrible place. The fabric is wonderful but the salespeople are definitely not. My mom and I spent an hour in there and not one person spoke to us and when we asked for help to cut our fabric they acted like it was an inconvenience to tear them from their conversation about stale pretzels. In the future we will take the extra time and gas to go to Fairfax. I would never recommend this place. read more

I'm a beginning quilter. I tagged along with a friend who is very accomplished and had a quilt top that she wasn't sure how to finish. The owner of the store, as well as all of the employees seemed very interested in helping my friend choose just the right backing fabric. I cannot say enough about the good "vibe" I got when I entered this store. I've shopped at some "not so friendly" places and this shop was a breath of fresh air. My dream would be to accidentally get locked in this store overnight so I could just go from bolt to bolt examining all the beautiful fabrics. Sister gave me a gift certificate for the store. I guess in VA certificates can expire, not in my state. I tried to use the certificate within a month after the expiration date - and they would not allow me to use it for credit. They got the money for that certificate and was just glad that it expired.
