I had the special Grilled shrimp (actually two orders for me and the misses.) The shrimp was a grilled herb marinated bliss of beauty! They were cooked right on the money and seasoned just the way it said on the menu. Perfect amount ( I believe there were 6. to be honest, I ate so fast I didn't count. Easy -don't have a Pressure Drop, but have a Lasagna Drop ! WECO will be introducing their meal delivery service to Metro Hartford in two weeks, and they kicked off their expansion with a Lasagna Drop today. Customers had the opportunity to pre-register for two different types of lasagna and pick them up at their food truck which was parked at the New Park Brewery in West Hartford this morning. We loved meeting their friendly and energetic reps, spun the prize wheel (my wife won free dessert for our next order), and there was a corn hole game and prizes to make it a very festive event. We pre-selected their beef lasagna over their veggie lasagna and dug into it tonight. WECO gave us a detailed "reheat" sheet with instructions on how to prepare it. The lasagna was described as "layers of beef bolognese, cherry tomato sugo, roasted garlic bechamel, fresh mozzarella, basil, parmesan and herbed breadcrumbs (serves 4 ppl) ($34)". So how was it? It was EXCELLENT!!! Freaking EXCELLENT! Plenty of meat, thin ribbons of delicate pasta, a mix of red sauce, béchamel sauce, cherry tomatoes, spices, diced veggies, and cheeses. I'm a BBQ specific foodie and when I saw they had Ribs on their Menu I just couldn't resist. Probably the most unique way to get BBQ in New England too. Quick rundown of the biz: They throw out a menu for every weekday of the week the Thursday before that week. You pick out the one or two options for whichever day they are on, they also do a kids meal, a dessert, and a cocktail for everyday (I think). You can either get it delivered to your house or pick it up at their Acton location or Burlington pick up location. You bring it home and they have simple heating instructions for each meal. They email a bill later that night that covers ONLY the ingredients and you choose how much more they should get. Super honor system here but most people do at least double the amount. So this past friday they had Glazed Brown Sugar Ribs that came with a Wedge Salad, and Capri Potato Salad, a little cornbread mini muffin, and Baked Beans. Kid Meal was Pulled Chicken, Green Beans, and a little applesauce. Dessert! Was American themed s'mores. Obviously I'm more accustomed to Smoked ribs that have been in a giant smoker for 8+ hours. But DAMN! these baked style ribs were Excellent! Great sugary but not too sweet Rub on them, Great amount of meat! and this bourbon glaze was fire! Baked Beans were pretty special too. Mostly red bean but a good amount of meat in there too. And the flavor was really nice, again not to sweet but not to savory. The potato salad was something for special foodies to enjoy. Halved and roasted fingerling potatoes with sun-dried tomatoes and fresh mozzarella balls all tossed in this excellent olive oil herb and spice mix. That was incredible. Pulled Chicken was actually nice, little bit of flavor that didn't take away from the natural smoked chicken. Green beans were cooked perfectly. Cornbread was gritty and sweet. Applesauce was very cinnamon-y but it was delicious. Even the salad came in a wedge with some homemade buttermilk dressing that tasted incredible. Chopped onions and cherry or grape tomatoes were in there too and Im still kinda blown away by how fresh it all still was even after the travel. OK! These S'mores were the best s'mores ever. I wasn't even aware that the gram crackers were actually thin sugar cookies with little red white and blue sprinkles. I was aware the fudge had a ripple of red and blue and that's what sold me. The marshmallows come pre charred a little bit so all you have to do is put them in the oven and let them heat up and soften a bit. Won't be anything like a fresh roasted over a campfire mallow BUT! you get a warm sugar cookie sandwich with amazing melted fudge dripping all over the place and that beats a burnt mallow any day. I've been ordering from WECO for about a year. Love, love, love their food. Spicing and sauces are spot on and the food choices, execution and taste are excellent. Portion size is generous. Yesterday I ordered day of, which is a new service. For me, this is a great option, since I like to be spontaneous about dinner. I ordered at 2:30pm and picked up later yesterday afternoon. They are expanding from Massachusetts and coming to Hartford county next week! WECO makes hand crafted dinners daily (and lunches, desserts, apps, kids meals) and hand delivers them to your door. I got to try their menu this week and the delivery was convenient! paneer tikka masala- this was flavorful and the garlic naan was well cooked artichoke dip was Philly mushroom "cheesesteak" with sweet potato fries was delish and a great substitute for vegetarians like me' mango mock tail was a fun twist!! It also came with brown sugar and mint mix oat meal cookies - finally the package also came with cookie batter!! So excited I stumbled upon this local brand. Pros Made fresh every day and delivered same day Local ingredients from local farms Sustainable Flavorful, fresh, perfectly diced, and securely packaged Ordering Super easy and kind of exciting! I got on their mailing list on Wednesday night. Every Thursday they send an email out at 12 PM with the dinner options and a request to order for the following week. I requested Baja shrimp tacos and sesame noodle + peas. On Saturday they email and let you know if they are able to service your request. Received the Saturday confirmation that I would have my order for Tuesday night. Delivery My order arrived on Tuesday around 1:30 PM. Everything was packaged nice and secure. Food Super fresh ingredients. Lots of perfectly diced herbs, veggies, and fruit. They changed their model to subscription and shipping food out of NH (no longer in Acton). They sent me a link so I could order items à la cart but now the emails have completely stopped. WECO made a mistake and delayed my order by a day. Ice was melted and couldn't tell if food was safe. Mixed up an item so instead of a sandwich it was a salad. I tried their chicken pot pie, and it was inedible and soupy. Not like they had it pictured at all. And I had no way to thicken it. My last order was an all-around miss and even though they tried to rectify it with a 20% off and refunding for the pot pie, I am just not happy. I really wanted to like this. All of our stuff was beautifully packed, contained fresh ingredients, and had good instructions. it looked like a dream come true. I prepped it all to spec (a fair amount of prep - more than I'd expect for pre-cooked, but it looked like it would work out better this way). Then I tried bites of everything. All of it was sugary. Veggie chili? sweet. Scallion pancake pizzas? sweet. Cheddar cornbread? sugary cake. Salad? candy. Love Weco. Super easy to order. I find it easiest to pick it up myself and they are friendly and fast. I pretty much order whenever I get bored with my own cooking. That ends up being a few meals every second week. My husband and I (+ our two teens) have enjoyed Weco meals for over a year. Some of our favs: Beef Bourguignon, Lamb Rigatoni, Hot Coal Chicken, Chicken Piccata, Bibimbap Bowl, and I like the Vegan Brussels Caesar (even though I'm not Vegetarian or Vegan). HUGE HUGE fan of WeCo. I'm located in the Norwalk/Westport CT area where they've been for a couple of years now. We originally started with WeCo because we were spending way too much money on takeout and needed an option that was delicious without a ton of cooking time. WeCo exceeded expectations on both fronts. Most of the food requires simple reheating and doesn't use a ton of pots/pans/dishes, which is huge for me because I spend too much time cleaning dishes as it is. Reheating is primarily done on the stove or in the oven so the food always tastes fresh and as if you prepared and cooked it yourself. We don't use a microwave so this works perfectly fine for us. I'm leaving it for last because the ease and simplicity has been such a win for us, but the food is... DELICIOUS! Most of the time when you choose these types of food delivery options, you're exchanging flavor for convenience. That couldn't be further from the truth with WeCo. There hasn't been a single dish that we've regretted. I wish I could list one as my favorite, but they're all really great and well portioned! I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. We love our WECO! The range of flavors is really wonderful, and it's rare for us to not order at least one night a week. We opt to pay for delivery (rather than pick up) and we are happy to do so. Some of our favorites include anything "shrimp truck", the short ribs, and almost any of their tofu (!!) bowls. We like that for nights we want something lighter they have a lighter option - and when we want straight-up comfort food, they have that, too. Six months ago I would have given WECO five stars. But after ordering regularly (once or twice a week) I'm not as enamored. I'm particularly weary of sides with a ton of different spices and flavorings--sometimes plain broccoli will do; no need for fried garlic, Sichuan peppercorns, and buttered crumb topping. And it's OK to do that with one side, but more often all the sides are equally complicated. There's too much going on--everything competes with each other. The braised entrees can be very fatty--an order of short ribs was 1/3 fat. But although the glow is off a bit, I still order almost weekly, usually entrees that I don't have the time to complete, or that I haven't attempted before. For anyone looking for a break from cooking, WECO is worth trying. read more

Great concept, interesting menu...the execution is lacking. We've gotten this a half dozen times. The first time was great, second time was OK....when my wife told me she ordered it for today I rolled my eyes. They just can't seem to hit the landing. This evening the potatoes were undercooked, last time something was ocercooked, or something is soggy, or a flavor is missing. I think it could be better, the potential is there. I wanted to at least like them. We ordered the NYE special with lobster pot pie, sparkler, and cake pops. The lobster pot pie completely lacked flavor and the lobster arrived already overcooked. Mrs. Budd's $7 chicken pot pie has about three times the flavor as this, and don't even get me started about Weco's "puff pastry". Puff pastries should taste buttery and fluffy. Where's the butter? The cake pops were also sloppy and looked like they just had the chocolate thrown on. We haven't try the lamb hash yet but I seriously doubt it's good. For a $100 meal I expect something decent, and definitely better than a frozen dish. Seasoning properly is also a basic component of cooking. Their "chefs" should be embarrassed to call themselves "chef's". Never again and please, do yourself a favor and don't order from them. Unless you like bland, dull, flavorless food that arrives already overcooked and sloppy. They really ruined a special night for us. read more

I concur with the first review - this is an amazing business and service in West Acton - we had heard of it through word of mouth and social media. The weekly menus are posted Thursday before and you order ahead. They have a kids menu choice every week. The food is delicious!!!! Sometimes you have to do some minimal finish prep/warm up before you serve the dinner at home but they include instructions. We've had their meals several times, including burritos, curry chicken, roasted pork loin, fall style bbq, etc. The kids menu is also superbly cooked as well - even something like teriyaki chicken and macaroni and cheese have far exceeded my expectations and way better than any common restaurant takeout. Furthermore, they are excellent in addressing allergy questions and they mark each week's menu with allergy notations. Highly recommend ! Please support this business. We've had everything from chicken and grain bowls to pork tacos to short ribs and jerk chicken.
