They were very friendly explained the price and made it easy for me. He even had guys to help me unload it from my old pickup. I am really appreciative there are americans still out there willing to help someone like me whos no longer capable of lifting all the scrap copper and steel even though he said he doesnt usually want the steel he was willing to help me. While I can't speak to the underlying output and success of the factory itself, SIMS offers a fantastic guided tour, showing New Yorkers how their trash gets processed and recycled. Tours are about 60 to 90 minutes and lead you through the whole factory, highlighting how the material comes in, how its initially deposited, sorted, and shipped out to people who want recycled material for use. While not the best place for a date spot, there's definitely something cool about getting to go see how a little piece of New York City runs beneath the surface. There's also hands on exhibits for kids to learn a bit about how recycling works and (metaphorically) get their hands dirty with the toy sorting machines

There are tours available on their website or by appointment and they last about an hour to 1.5hrs. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any questions we may have. They have kid-friendly displays and demos of how everything gets identified, sorted, compacted, and re-sold to companies that make the packaging of our daily goods. They'll also take you to an overlook of the facilities so you can see how the mountains of recycled material goes from trucks to and through the sorting machines. It's not the most glamorous place, but it's a cool learning experience you'll remember.

As far as recycling centers go, I would say that Sure we can is very reliable. I've never waited…read morevery long to have my recyclables collected and receive my deposit back. As recycling centers are necessary essential bussiness, and it's not like they are trying to gain customers, the staff is very friendly and efficient. If you need to recycle your recyclables to get your 5 cents per can back, this is a quick and painless place to go.

Having driven by Atlantic Recycling I decided to give them a try. Weight scales are separated by the metals material element. And, although the amount you receive for your scrap is relatively minimal, I'm happy getting any money in return. Atlantic Recycling also has an auto salvage section that can extend to the street and sidewalk. All on display as you drive or walk by. They sell used auto parts too.

Over the years, I have found Royal Waste Services to be unreliable and inconsistent. On numerous…read moreoccasions they failed to pick up my garbage, and in several instances they dragged bags on the sidewalks, which ripped the bags open leaving trash all over. Their bookeeping needs improvement. I pay on the spot the day I get the bill, yet I've gotten insulting, threatening letters stating I did not pay. In my opinion, this is a poorly run, second rate business. Fred P
