I booked Jessie for my wedding this year to do hair and makeup. She and her team had worked on me a few years ago for my brother's wedding, so I already knew that she was good. She is very talented, listens to you, and manages to make you look like a glammed up version of yourself for the big day. She has several packages to choose from, and she offers trials as well. I sent her links to my pinterest page, and she was able to get the look I was going for. I was a little concerned that the hair and makeup may not last until the wee hours of the night, but they did! So well in fact, that I had panda eyes when I tried to wash everything off, haha. Throughout the day, I had to re-touch the undereye with q-tips and YSL touch eclat, but that's pretty par for the course. The hair looked as good at the end of the night as it did in the morning for the first look. I'll attach a photo during one of the wardrobe changes, which shows my hair around 8 hours later. She gets back to you in a reasonable of time, is responsible and shows up punctually (I had a 6 am start, so this was important), and most importantly, is really good at what she does. Bonus that she was able to help lace up my corset and get me into my dress. She's a pro at veils and explaining to your party how to swap the veil for the comb as well. Plus, she's really nice and pleasant, which is helpful when you're stressed out. She packs a touch up kit for you, which has trial/deluxe products that you may need, which was a lovely bonus. I sent her photos from her portfolio to get a quote. Reasonably, she provided a range because it depends on how much hair she's working with. Few days before our appointment, she reminded me to shampoo my hair and condition the ends - not the scalp. Love the instructions! Come the day of our appointment: I asked her to come to my home for a small travel fee, and she arrives on time. So considerate that she parked on the curb instead of the driveway! I don't like wearing makeup at all so I was extremely picky when trying to decide on a "look" for the makeup and hair for my wedding. After my trial with Jessie (it was supposed to be 2 hours long but she spent 3 hours with me to try to find the right look), I emailed her to tell her that I wanted something completely different for my makeup and hair. I felt bad and totally expected her to not want to work with me anymore...but she stepped up to the challenge, didn't make me feel like a bridezilla, and was very accommodating. Jessie did an awesome job for my cousin's wedding. My cousin had booked Jessie for makeup and hair for herself and four of her bridesmaids (I was the maid of honor). I usually NEVER wear makeup. I reached out to Jessie via text 2 weeks ago, and inquired about makeup services for my future mother in law for my wedding. She responded pretty quickly, saying she was available that day. I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact address but let her know it was in the SJ area, because we are still in the process of house hunting. I asked her to send over a contract after confirming she could do makeup that day by 10am. After several followup texts and days of waiting in between, she still didn't email me the contract. We had 2 trials because I changed my mind on the look I was going for- the 1st trial, I thought I wanted a more modern, polished up-do and then I decided to go with a more loose, romantic hairstyle. We tried 2-4 different looks each time. Each time, Jessie was super attentive to the examples that I had given and offered her own suggestions on how to make me look my best. And I really did. She showed up on time to my wedding with her assistant, Deana to work on me and my mom. She had really great advice prior to the weddingon how I should prepare and when to have my bridesmaids join me so the day would not be too crazy. She even made sure that I stayed hydrated, fed, and comfortable as I was being worked on. Even when she was done glamming me up and ready to go, Jessie and Deana hung around and went way, way above and beyond to help us with our last minute preparations. Our ceremony was outdoors and the day was HOT so Jessie took extra care to make sure that my makeup would stand up to the heat. She gave me a touchup kit and explained how to touch up my makeup (in the chaos, the kit got misplaced, so I actually went the rest of the day with the original makeup but my face definitely survived the day!) We ended up being a few minutes behind for the ceremony and Jessie graciously stepped in, offering her wedding expertise to lace me into my wedding gown! I'm going to be absolutely honest even if I'm going against the majority. I feel I can only give Jessie 2 stars because it's true: I did experience better, unfortunately. I went into my trial with the expectation that I would love Jessie as much as my friends who had gotten their bridal hair/makeup from her and would basically contract for her services by the time we were done. Even so, I was punctual and prepared with a dossier of styles to show her what I want. Communication wasn't an issue since I'm fairly bilingual and was persistent in following up with her to schedule a trial. Even with all the advantage heaped on her, Jessie still didn't work out for me. Although I emphasized a natural touch, I felt that the makeup kinda veered towards drag queen land. The strip lashes reminded me of spiky tarantula legs. And the airbrush foundation was really deplorable - it appeared scaly and cakey (maybe due to lack of primer?). She seemed skillful with the updo I requested, but it ended up being a haphazard pile of coils. Don't get me wrong: she has a lovely demeanor. I couldn't stop cracking up when she applied tape to "give" me eyelids. And the eye make-up she applied on me was really pretty. I do think that while her work looks a little heavy in person, it does look good in photos. I just had higher expectations of bridal hair/make-up and had to go elsewhere to satisfy my vain, vain vanity. read more

I set up a hair trial appointment with Jessie and she is very good at what she does! My hair is really thick and every time I have attempted an updo, I feel like Marge Simpson. Jessie was able to put my hair up without it looking too large or overwhelming. In 1 hour, she was able to do 4 different hair styles. She even was willing to let me use her tiaras, hair extension, flower clips, or hair jewels if I needed them. The only problem I had with her was that she was late for our trial by half an hour because she forgot, but she gave me a nice discount to make up for it. I rarely wear make-up, so when I went in for the trial I was a bit nervous at first. I told her I wanted something natural and not over-the-top because I wanted to look like me, not some airbrushed supermodel (Although I guess that wouldn't be so bad either) on my wedding day. I had two other makeup trials before I had one with Jessie. She spent much more time with me than the other women, and allowed me to try 2-3 different hair and makeup looks. She let me take pictures and even asked me to go outside so I could view the makeup in natural light. She really listened to what I wanted and worked with me to achieve the look I was going for, which was natural, but pretty :). She is very sweet and professional. I was looking on the internet for my bridal make up. Most of the other make up artists in this area charge a high price for both wedding make up and trial. I found Jessie's website and called her, the quote she gave (especially for the trial) was very reasonable. I did the trial on a weekend day, and tried 3~4 different styles. She's very skillful and approachable. I also appreciate her attention to detail. We then had calls/emails regarding to the arrangement on the wedding. My wedding venue opens at 3pm with photographers ready on the same time, so we have to start the make up at my home. On the day of the wedding, she arrived at my home early and got my hair and partial make up done. Then we headed to the wedding venue to complete the rest of the make up while photographers taking the preparation photos. She also helped my husband with his hair/base touch. She finished everything 30 mins early so we were left with plenty of time to take photos before guests arrived. several of my friends had their hair/makeup done by jessie. i shopped around for a while... there is no recession when you mention the word "wedding" (in fact, the pricing goes up yearly...even since 2008). you can get your hair and makeup cheaper if you hire a person from the makeup counter for makeup and a hair person that charges by the hour. but i wanted to find one person to do both so that i minimize the risk of one of them being late (morning wedding). trial: she forgot about my trial (i did not tell my mom as she would have been worrying..). ended up having coffee at peet's while waiting for her to arrive. trial was rushed because i didn't have the 3 hrs (photography engagement scheduled). got a huge discount to make up for it which made me happy because that was how much i wanted to pay in the first place. wedding day: she arrived 5 minutes early but didn't want to wake up everyone at the house by ringing the doorbell. very considerate. it was 5am (note: she looked beautiful herself at that hour!!) her work is excellent!! she is fast, detail-oriented...very very good at what she does. i had my hair up for the short tea ceremony at my house. then she put my hair back down (i chose a half up/half down look). she even helped me with the corset of my wedding dress. you don't have to buy a tiara. she will let you borrow hers (for a deposit). MAKEUP: she puts on all that makeup while making it look natural. i don't usually wear makeup on a regular basis, so this was really important to me. HAIR: she's done many wedding hairstyles. you can tell her what you want, then she can translate it. she takes pictures after the trial so that she can study them. for the trial, she added hair extensions. since the hair extensions only came in about 5 colors...and none of them matched perfectly, i didn't use them. just let my hair grow a bit until the wedding. (and brides, you will be sooo happy to get your first haircut after the wedding!! i was!!) MAKEUP (or HAIR) for others: she also does hair and makeup for others. but i don't recommend that you have her do all your bridesmaids especially if you have a morning wedding like me. there just isn't enough time! she did my mom's makeup also. after the wedding, i was at the house putting things away. then i laid down for half an hour to rest (which ended up being a bad idea since i felt more tired!!). got up since we had relatives at the house for a catered dinner. when i look at the pics taken at my house after a short rest, i'm amazed at how the makeup and hair stayed looking nice!! My friend told me when I got engaged that I must try to get Jessie to do my makeup/hair. All of her friends who got married raved about how great Jessie was. So I made an appointment to do trials/makeup with her on the day of our engagement photo shoot. Jessie was extremely nice and sweet and did my makeup/hair beautifully. She had great suggestions and was very detailed. Everyone complimented me on the makeup for the engagement photos. Then for the wedding day, she came to the hotel do my hair and makeup. She was very flexible and was able to do my mom's hair as well as one of the bridesmaids hair. She was very punctual and in addition to doing a wonderful job on my makeup and hair, she helped me get into my dress and put on the veil. I hired Jessie as my make-up and hair artist. She was referred to me by a friend, and she was absolutely great! On the day of the trial, the hair/makeup was ok. But I had nothing to compare to. The hair/makeup on the actual day of the wedding was perfect! She mentioned that she goes home and looks at pictures of the trial and does her homework. She certainly did hers...because I got a lot of compliments on my hair/makeup! I especially recommend her to asian brides because she knows how to work with asian features and hair. read more

I had Jessie Weng as my make-up and hair artist for my wedding day. Absolutely fine and detailed work. You can definitely tell that it is way better make-up skill than going to a cosmetic counter at a department store. Jessie does hair also, and she is pretty fast in her work, and my hair was very sturdy. She even lend me the hair decorations for the wedding day, so I don't have to spend tons of money on something that I will only wear for one day. I took a make up class with Jessie recently. She's so good at what she's doing and explained everything in a detailed and clear way. She care about what the customer need and also provide her recommendation of what suit you the best. She showed me how to do one side of my face and had myself work on the other side and suggest on what and I can improve. Jessie did a wonderful job for me and my family for my wedding day in Sept of 2009. I was so lucky to have found Jessie just 1 month before my wedding--ladies, a word of advice, book your hair and makeup artist 3-6 months in advance! First, we had a trial session during which we tried 2 looks. I went in thinking that I knew what I wanted, but Jessie was able to come up with something different that was much more flattering for me. Not only did I feel beautiful and receive a lot of compliments on my wedding day, the makeup was natural enough that I still looked like myself. Jessie was also very accomodating in creating a package for my family members. Jessie was very professional throughout the whole process--arriving on time, and getting everyone ready on time. What can i say about Jessie that has not already been said??? I adore Jessie's work and dedication! She did an amazing job for my wedding (myself and 5 Bridesmaids). It made me sad when it was all over! She was that good! Bridesmaids were so happy by the way they were taken care of by her and her team. Getting ready the morning of the wedding was so much fun even if it was 6am! She has high attention to detail and handles any kind of hair or make up situation like a super pro!
