I loved working with Keziah and Lezlie for my bridal and wedding party hair and makeup. They were on time and worked ahead of the schedule they had provided ahead of time. For my mom and mother in law, who don't wear makeup usually, they took into account their preferences and did a natural look they felt comfortable wearing all day. My sister in law and bridesmaids also really liked and rocked their makeup all day. Keziah and Lezlie created such a calming space for us to get ready. It was raining on my wedding day (it eventually stopped!) so the nerves were unusually high that morning since the venue was all outdoors :') Keziah played relaxing music and since we were also ahead of schedule, no one felt rushed or anxious. I did a makeup trial with Keziah a month in advance and I would highly recommend brides to do a trial especially for makeup but also hair! I sent Keziah some notes after the trial based on wearing the makeup all day (fluffier brows, less dramatic lashes) and she took 100% of them into account as she did my makeup on my wedding day. During the trial, she also recommended a bunch of things I could do to boost my skin and hair ahead of the wedding day, including some services. Apart from drinking lots of water and taking extra good care of my skin, I also got a hydrating facial and laminated my brows. I really loved my look on my wedding day and it really made me feel like me while complementing my dress. First of all, keziah is such a character, so bubbly, I don't see why anyone wouldn't love her! Her character really shows in her work, and it's hard not to love. Prior to this I had never colored my hair. I tried a box dye on the tips about 7 years ago but nothing showed because I have black hair. I was so nervous for a change, but I was sooo ready! When keziah said she would do hair for free ( with the exception of clients paying for products) I had to ask! It was a sign for me to finally do something with my hair! She sent me a few photos of a blondish color and I agreed. A few days before we were scheduled to meet, I felt like I wanted to back out because I was scared for such a dramatic change. I sent her a picture of a maroonish color that I thought would be a better transition ( for me) and she had no problem with changing it up for me. ( sigh of relief!! ) Come the day of, I was getting supppppper nervous lol. But she made the whole process so easy. As long as there was a sink and a table, she made it work. She cut my hair and got started! It took about 5 hours total. We got to talking in between and listened to music which made the time pass more quickly. She recommended products, as I assume most stylist would, but I think she generally cares about what she does and what product is good for each specific person based on their hair texture. As my first review of 2017, I wanted to give it to an upcoming business. BeautybyKeziah was a big part of my special day...the day I married my best friend/great love!! During the entire process, I met with Keziah 3 times before the big day. The first day, she provided my make up for our engagement photo shoot. This was my way of finding out if she was talented or not. My photo shoot was in San Francisco at Baker's beach. She applied my make up on site at the parking lot. The weather was not the greatest, very cold and windy. It turned out great. Our second meeting she drove from San Jose to Vallejo for our first wedding makeup/hair trial. She is a traveling makeup artist (MUA). I provided her a picture of the hairstyle I wanted. She attempted the style, but after it was all said and done, I was not a fan of it. As my husband said "it made me look old". That's the last thing you want to look like on your wedding day. Due to time restraint, I had to reschedule another day for another trial run. Our third meeting she drove again from San Jose to Vallejo. This time she brought her fiancé with her (which by the way is a DJ, hint hint if you need one). He's a cool guy. We ran through several hair styles and in the end found the one! Received the thumbs up from my husband. The day of the wedding. Since Keziah lives in San Jose, to relieve stress on my shoulder my husband and I provided her a room at Vino Bello (part of Meritage hotel in Napa). I highly recommend putting up your MUA at a hotel if they live far away. It's not necessary, but it is definitely great peace of mind. We were able to start our day early, since our timeline was very tight. My makeup and hair turned out great. My hair is short and we added extensions. She blended it perfectly. Keziah is very professional, but at the same time she is so easy to get along with, almost like talking to a family member. I would recommend her for your special day. With every good, there is also a bad. To be honest, I can't totally fault Keziah for this. This is why I'm keeping it at a 5 star. I want brides to know, so they can learn from my mistake. My wedding contract was with another business that found Keziah. The contract was for the trial and the entire wedding day. It was important to me there was an MUA throughout the wedding for touchups. Unfortunately, the information was not relayed to Keziah and she already was booked for another wedding after mines. The company I went with did not stay and I found out at the reception they were not coming back. It was disappointing as parts of my hair came undone at the ceremony and reception (see pictures). I would guess if Keziah knew they were not coming, she would have possibly added more pins or a stronger hairspray. I really don't know. My other recommendation to future brides, do not wear colored lip stick. If you do, tell your MUA for a permanent type that doesn't transfer. I didn't think about this, since I don't ever wear lipstick. When it came time to "kiss the bride". My lipstick transferred to my husband and even with all the wiping off with tissue, he had several pictures with a pinkish stain on his lips. Overall, it was great working with Keziah. The best decision I ever made was coming to Keziah! I'm a little late on this review but I've been absolutely loving my new hair. I had an appointment with Keziah on Aug 2nd. The salon wasn't too much of a drive for me coming from eastside SJ. The salon itself was nice and clean. Keziah introduced herself to me and then we got right to my hair. She gave me a nice silk robe to put on over my clothes to add a professional touch. Before I got my hair done, I had very very long hair with a very out grown ombre. I showed Keziah pictures of hairstyles of what I was looking for myself (a medium short caramel balayage with long layers). Keziah went over specific questions about how I wanted it and then explained the process. We did a rough cut, color, wash, olaplex, wash, and then style.
