Elope to Savannah said they would sign a new marriage license, and mail it to the court for us. I communicated that I would reach out to them when we were able to get a new marriage license, but because of work and illness it took two months for us to get a new marriage license. Once we got a free day we paid a local minister to marry us legally. During our session with Elope to Savannah they suggested their mail service was unreliable and at that point I did not want to risk another mistake. Apparently their mail goes to Florida before it goes to the mail recipient. When I requested a refund they blamed us for taking a long time to get the new marriage license. They said a refund would be problematic in this economy because they are a small business. They gave a breakdown of their expenses and suggested a small partial refund. Being scolded for not getting this fixed right away was shocking. Use them at your own risk. If they fixed their mistake with us this way, imagine what kind of fix they will give you. Not a good experience.

We didn't want to have to think about anything or lift a finger day of. My wedding was anything but a fairy tale. Aside from a lot of personal things happening that weekend ie: both my father and his grandmother almost dying, our apartment flooding and our washing machine breaking. Joy has a HUGE apart in why our wedding was a disappointment. I don't appreciate being blamed for not "hiring professionals " ( and that is why our wedding was a disaster ) when in fact she is a professional and we hire two people of her choosing to help with set up, break down and taking care of our fur baby. Aside from our drunk dj who also has a HUGE factor as to why our wedding was also ruined but he was a 4.9 star dj. She blamed US for why everything went wrong. She blamed my photographer for why things went wrong. She took zero responsibility and showed zero remorse and did not apologize for her behalf of why things went wrong. Saturday October 30th was our rehearsal. We showed up an HOUR before start time which was 530 we asked people to show up at 5 so there were not stragglers and we could start on time. She BLAMED US for why SHE didn't hand out the time line the night before. Almost all of our bridal party were on time so from 5-530 she could have handed out the time line. But she blamed us because once our trolley came to pick us up at 6:45 we needed to head out and that she was trying to find out information about where we were suppose to go in the morning and that the rehearsal didn't run the way it was suppose to. We did two run throughs. And yes we did have a friend preform the ceremony but she was also directing how things went. But once again that is OUR FAULT. Also the morning of she could have her or one of her helpers drop off the timeline ( because all of us were clueless ) We had a 6pm wedding and our hair and makeup started at 8 am. Which was confusing. My hair had fallen before the ceremony and SHE blamed my photographer for the time line and she said that's when we needed to get started. Well in fact after following up with my photographer she hasn't even talked to her until two weeks before the wedding. I have emails where she said we needed to start at 8 am and we asked her a couple of times why so early **** a month before she talked to the photographer *** and she said because we needed to be done by 2 for photos. I didn't think that we needed to micromanage my COORDINATOR because a handful of things that what went wrong with the DJ was the time line. And she did have a copy of everything because she was CCed onto the email about speeches and whatnot. Because all of the speeches were gone AFTER dinner. My favorite thing that went wrong was that we talked about having the wedding live streamed because a lot of people couldn't travel. But especially last minute my dad ended up in the hospital. Even though we had all of this set up IN ADVANCE 5 minutes I was about to walk down the aisle I had to ask her " don't you need my phone for the live stream?" Joy:" someone told me we weren't doing that because your dad wasn't doing well" ... EXCUSE me ? Neither me or my husband never said that NOR did we want that especially because of all the people who weren't able to come. And she wouldn't tell us who " told her that" nor did she double check with her PAYING clients. And her thing was " well we got it figured out in the end and the live stream went on" and the ONLY reason it happened because I has to REMIND her about everything before I walked down the aisle. Also, despite talking about decorations in detail. The pumpkins that were suppose to be lining that aisle were not there. The boutonnières never made it on the guys. Nor did my ring bearer have the carriage I made. Joy had a detailed packing list. Along with pictures of everything. All of the boxes were Labeled. Her excuse was " everything was so pretty and we didn't know " so you're telling me that my pictures and detailed packing list and labeled boxes weren't enough? She then said that we'll there were only enough pumpkins for the tables to which I told her yes and they were suppose to go down the aisle. I am sick of people saying no one noticed. I NOTICED. I look at the video of me on my wedding day and I am sickened because you see the annoyance on my face especially when I realize everything missing in the ceremony. Not only did I have a lot of personal stress but the people I paid 100s of dollars for and talked in detail with about how I want the venue to be set up was NOT how we discussed for 3 years ** yes 3 years ** I'm not sure why we hired the extra people to help her when she ended up having our guest help pack things up and bring them out to the uhaul afterwards. She showed all her neighbors and I knew my "frivolous" spend was money well spent. When it comes to moms, I have the best. The most stressful part of the wedding planning process was dealing with this non responsive coordinator that did not follow through on the bulk of things promised upon contract. Rental items and decor was also removed. Day of coordination was a disaster and her lack of experience was quite evident.

The history and anecdotes of the venue are fascinating and I am glad to see some improvements being made that maintain its historical charm. What a great property for photos too! As a person with fond memories of growing up in an old Victorian home and who really appreciates historic architecture of the by-gone era, this checks all the boxes for me.

Please read, contrarian opinion. We signed with Posey almost two years before the March 2026…read morewedding date. Unfortunately, in November of 2024, we became aware that the wedding was off. We contacted Posey, Mika'l & Robert, immediately asking if any of the ~ $2000 deposit could be refunded. We were well-aware of the non-refundable deposit clause in the Posey contract, however cancelling almost 1 1/2 years before the event date, knowing that no phone conversations occurred with the expected couple, AND that the other vendors refunded all deposit money even with non-refundable clauses in their contract, we thought a total, or at least partial refund was possible. We were wrong! We explained the situation via phone to Robert and he said he would discuss with Mika'l and get back to us. Mikal's reply was "We are attaching our contract which is very explicit regarding the non-refundable deposit. These funds have already been allocated to other purposes, on top of that, we have had this date reserved on our calendar. Along with the above mentioned, we did spend time and energy with you at the onset of booking." While Mika'l was sympathetic to the situation, this reply surprised us as the time spent at onset was before the contract was signed to better understand the service options. While Mikal did send a questionnaire to the expected couple, which was returned, there were no phone conversations with the expected couple. We responded with the following request, "We respectfully request that Posey Event Design send all completed work, including but not limited to the floor plan and layout design, a list of vendors which Posey had communications with, seating chart guidance, and draft timeline for the originally contracted event aka Wedding. These items align with Phases 2 & 3 as detailed in the contract.", since we paid a deposit to retain their services. Posey's reply was, "The non-refundable deposit is to secure the date. It's a retainer fee that is not attached to any other work being fully realized or completed. Our contract does not specify when work is accomplished with any sort of deadlines. Phase 3 does not happen until 60 days out. All of our work is in tandem with the client. The design phase cannot happen with involvement and decisions from the client. As is the case in many industries, the work is part of a process with the execution of the event in mind. A design board for example is not a final product but a tool, and is often left incomplete as the goal is not a design board, but a cohesive, curated wedding day." We exchanged a few more emails during which Mika'l accused me of bullying, which is a promisor termination clause in their contract, and we concluded the email exchange with the suggestion that Posey could have offered to credit us the deposit monies should a new date be set or Posey could have stated that they had multiple requests for the March 2026 date and had to turn those requests away because we reserved the date, they did not state this. Lastly, Posey could have offered a partial refund. While no one expects a wedding to get cancelled, it happens. This was our experience with Posey and felt it was important to share.
