We had the best freaking time today on our trail ride! What a wonderful way to enjoy the beautiful area and it was so relaxing. Everything was super easy for us and the horses were so well mannered. Not only were we comfortable with the Covid guidelines but generally safety was not a concern for us. We wore helmets that were available for no additional charge (just wanted a couple pics without). The horses knew the way around the area and were obviously well taken care of. So much fun and we will definitely be back. Please just be mindful to bring enough cash for your ride and gratuity! read more

My mom and I had an absolutely phenomenal time trail riding here today! The trail itself is beautiful, and the horses seem to be really well looked after. The horses knew the trail and were quite well-mannered (and were also just adorable). Mackenzie and Reagan did an amazing job making us feel comfortable both on and off our horses. Wedgewood farms is great, I have been on trail rides here for a couple of years and I absolutely love it, everyone is so nice and accommodating, they make sure that you get on your horse adjust your stirrups and make your trail ride comfortable, and awesome! They are all very kind and I am so happy I'm coming here to ride, I bring all my friends here and they all love it!! The weather is breaking on the cooler side so we will definitely be riding a lot until it gets colder. As you all know they only take cash and it's $50.00 dollars per person which is very reasonable for a 1 hour beautiful trail ride!! Best horse trail riding experience!! I've been to many different barns and am picky about which places seem to take the best care of their horses, and am so glad I came across Wedgewood! Their horses are beautiful and well taken care of. They fit myself and my friends in for a trail ride in less than 24 hours. The staff was so sweet, Susan was amazing in making sure we mounted our horses and felt comfortable. Our trail guide, Myles, was such a pleasure to spend time with and made the entire experience so fun! The trail goes into Lake County Forest Preserve & was so so beautiful. This place is a complete sham. We had our friends come down from Wisconsin for a trail ride at this farm as it is nearby. We were told by Katie to show up at 10 am and bring a check for $40. When we showed up at he business nobody knew anything about our trail ride and said no appointments were available. The owner came out and was EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude. Yelled and screamed about being in business for 30 years and told us none of the information we were told is true. When I showed him the text messages and the phone numbers as documented proof he begrudgingly insulted us and offered to 'honor' what Katie said and provide a trail ride. He told us the 'true' Price is $45 and that he is 'accommodating us one time'. This place is horrible, with an owner that can not work professionally when one of his staff willfully misrepresented his 'business'. Thank God we saw the true side to this place before signing up for lessons or a lease . They are NOT able to keep it together. I hope my incident can help you avoid the trouble . Stay Away !!! Owners-wise, the best of the best! Donna and Wade have gone above and beyond in meeting the needs of my horses! The atmosphere is fun and chill, they are very knowledgable about pretty much any and everything you might need to ask about horse care, feeding, training, etc. Beautiful property, close to forest preserve trails, great consistent care for the horses. Soooo, made a reservation to ride with my daughter here this morning via a couple of odd phone calls. When we were about 10 minutes away from the stables the "volunteer" called us to confirm our appointment and to alert us of their cash-only policy. What?!?! There was absolutely nooooo mention of cash-only on the previous phone calls and none to be found on the website. I am 100% certain this policy was not mentioned on the call because I carry very little cash, if any, and don't carry an ATM card so this would have been a very important detail to me. I happened to have cash in my purse this week secondary to unusual circumstances. My daughter collected every bit of cash/change in my purse and car which totaled $88. Despite this situation being their lack of communication, they would make no exceptions, let me mail in the $12, Venmo, ApplePay or anything. I was told I could drive the 60 minutes roundtrip back home to get this extra $6 per person that I was short because they failed to inform me of this cash-only policy. And she said because she was so nice and everyone always loved her, she would be willing to wait for me to do so. Obviously this was distressing so I asked to speak with a manager or have someone's name. She refused to give me a name which is odd. There are no names on the website either. Or pricing. Only contact information is a phone number and address. Not even an email. This is definitely sketchy! So, supposedly, the nameless owners would not allow a volunteer that failed to give this very important bit of information rectify their mistake by forgiving the nominal missing dollars or trusting me to mail it in simply on the grounds that the situation was caused on their side. I'm so confused about how there are "volunteers" that guide these rides. I really do not understand this at all. Looking at Arjun's comment, I wonder, did they start calling these employees or contractors "volunteers" so they could sidestep their poor communication? I would just say be cautious and bring cash, we made reservations online for next week at a different stable, for less cost and more solid-looking information on their website. And good reviews! Brought my horse here for boarding it was a bad experience - was there for two monthes and couldn't get out of there fast enough. My mare never got turn out and I had to down load an app to communicate with the worker so that they would let her out for exercise. It has so much potential - location and pretty facility read more

I decided to stop by for a trail ride because I was at Barrington Saddlery anyhow, and I had a great time! One of the things I really liked was that I was warned that my horse had a little issue earlier with getting spooked. Being forewarned allowed me to be on guard and I made sure I was secure in the saddle, just in case. The other thing I enjoyed was that I was able to ride him in the flat for a little while before we headed off. Every horse is different, so I got to loosen him up and see what aids he responded to. A+ for both actions. I was able to relax on the trail and enjoy the horse and the company much better. The trail itself is gorgeous, I actually remembered I went riding there many years ago when they used to let you canter the horses (they do not anymore). Totally worth the trip. The barn is easy to find with ample parking. read more
