The only shirts that they had a lot of were Marvel and Disney characters. I was not interested in them. A store with very little merchandise is not going to produce much sales. They have everything like seashells, wind chimes, signs, shot glasses, souvenirs, and more. Most things are made from sea shells and the colors are so pretty. We really like the seashell chimes and dream catchers here. Everything is reasonably priced and very well made. The workers here are always so friendly. They package the purchased gifts for customers very well too. Definitely come in to find some cute gifts if you ever visit Avalon!

I came in two days ago, asked about a board. They were out. I said I was interested in acquiring a board ASAP, they said come in later when their inventory arrives. I literally walked up to the people who deliver shipments to businesses after they're flown to the island. I asked if they were going to deliver to CSC that day. They said they were on the way after stopping at Vons. Couple hours later, I stop at the shop and the shipment is sitting right next to the employee at the register. They said come back later, they had to unpack all the stuff. I say okay, expecting to have the board later that day. Come in later that day. It's 4:50pm. There's a note on the door saying "on break, back at 5". I already knew the employee was lazy and wouldn't be back on time, so I come back at 5:15. I arrive seconds before them, while they're pulling the keys to the business out of their pocket. Boxes still sitting there. They say come back tomorrow. Okay... Next day, I come back several times desperate to buy a board, every single time the same boxes are sitting on the floor. Ended that day empty handed. It's currently 2:50pm the next day. I've dropped in twice already today. Same thing. They KNEW I was willing to drop $200 on board parts, why would you not just take out components to a board and sell them to me? I've given up. I just wanted to ride, dude. Come on... Any skateboarders know what it's like when you get that itch and just need to ride. Someone who runs a boardshop should definitely get it. Anyone with business sense would get it. This place kept playing with me, acting like they were actually going to do what a business does. I felt like I was in some sort of absurd time loop. I am severely disappointed. I may just buy someone's board off of them. I'm sure it's not a bad business but this was a horrible experience. I mean, lazy is one thing. Three days to open a few boxes and scan some barcodes though? That's a whole new level.

I mean, it had a lot of conventional body products: body…read morewashes, lotions, "bath bombs" (not technically licensed by Lush, but whenever I hear "bath bomb" I think of Lush) and so on. I would have asked a number of questions, but the clerk on duty spent the entire time from the moment I entered to when I left talking on the phone. To her credit, she did put the phone down when I bought my patchouli soap, but that was about it. A lot of the fragrances seemed appealing. Unfortunately, there weren't any testers. And the signage did not encourage opening the products to smell them. That was a bit problematic. As it turned out, the only products I could "smell-test" where the soaps....which turned out to be very nice. And the bar was only six dollars, which I thought was very reasonable for its size and fragrance and being from a specialty shop.. A lot of the scents seemed Catalina-specific, but I have no idea whether or not there were actually local. It's really easy to slap a label on a product on a plastic bottle or rename it. Again, if I had felt comfortable asking the woman on duty about them, I would have tried to figure that out. I hope this was some emergency or, at least, a one time thing, but I'm probably not going to visit Catalina again this calendar year. And if Idid, I don't feel encouraged to come back. Take from that what you will.

This year, we decided to look at their "Epic Magnet Wall". To be fair, I don't know if I'd consider the wall "Epic", but not only did we find a magnet for ourselves, we found several other items, and at a price that didn't hurt my head or my wallet. The lady that checked us out couldn't have been more friendly and personable, and let us know that she was the "Official Merchandise Tester" with a sly smile. She absolutely made the visit more fun, and we couldn't be happier with our purchases.

I was impressed that the t-shirts ranged from youth x-small (age 2-4) up through x-large (age 14). Catalina Kids has some original t-shirts designs with mermaids, sharks, buffalos, and fish that make for fun souvenirs, gifts, and mementos from your trip! They have some cute jewelry and stuffies as well. The shop keeper was friendly and offered to help put away shirts and get other sizes for me. The t-shirts are a bit on the pricier side at $18-$22 for a single shirt, but they seem like good quality and original designs. Overall, I enjoyed the selection of t-shirts for my daughter and nephew and I had a hard time just picking one shirt for each kid--I was tempted to get more!

On earlier trips I made the mistake of overlooking this shop because I assumed it was "too…read moreconvenient" and that I'd have to venture deeper into Avalon to find unique goods. Over the years ( and especially last week ) I found that after going through every other shop in the town, I went back here and found the perfect zipper-hoodie here. Sometimes you bypass the obvious business because you think this is too easy, you have to dig deeper but no, the lesson I learned is I should check here first, and accept that I may be coming here last. I was lucky to grab the jacket I wanted off the rack just before a cruise ship let off. By the time they filter through here all the jackets in my size are gone.
