I don't come to this area much so this is only my second time at this location. There is a stoplight that makes entry and exiting very easy on a very busy road. It's not far from the 40 exit. This is a great store and is laid out like the store in Morrisville where I usually go . They no longer have the burger/ sandwich grill but do still have the area where you can sit and eat. There are many other ways to get something to eat there and it was clean when I was there. I was pleased to find many items that I can't find in other stores. The prices are as good or better than the discount stores on many items! I have tried several of the wegman paper products and have been happy with them all. Instacart offered me a refund for the item. I called wegmans to inform them, and they told me to contact Instacart for a refund, and that that was not their standard. I love Wegman's and do my weekly shopping here. The app is amazing, telling you exactly what aisle everything in your list is in. They have great produce, a fantastic selection of prepared foods (even a sub counter an a sushi counter!). The eggs are cheaper than any other grocery store. Their seltzer selection is unmatched. Wegmans is by far my favorite grocery store. There's just no comparison. I love that the store is divided into sections. My last couple of visits started in the cafe area. I ordered a build your own poke bowl at the sushi making area. The employees are always nice and ask questions regarding my order. It's a simple process. Once ordering is complete, I pay for the bowl and sit in the cafe area. Seating is comfortable and the area is usually always clean. I especially enjoy the free water and ice station. After enjoying my poke bowl (see pic), I began grocery shopping. I usually always go the turkey section to look for tenderloin or a breast. The deli section is great. It offers a variety of selections. The produce section is the real star here. The produce at Wegman's is always fresh and full of options. I usually spend a lot of time in this area. Overall this a great grocery store, but just reviewjng the in house dining here. We love the variety of options Wegmans offers for a meal! We had a maple onion cheeseburger, fries, and two slices of pizza. The pizza were garlic cheese and truffle. That truffle pizza is absolutely packed with flavor! The garlic cheese was good too. I spend a lot of time in Chapel Hill for work. I usually work long hours. After 10pm on a Monday, there are very few local dining options, nearly zero healthy options. The long bright spot is Wegmans. I can shop with confidence at 11pm on a Monday night that I can find a delicious healthy meal to enjoy in my hotel room. As soon as you walk in, peel to the left and a prepackaged oasis awaits you. I usually get a salad, olives, hard boiled eggs and a beer or two. Love this store. Highlights are the charcuterie, and bakery. I can always pick up a decent salad for lunch as well. Shout out to Lisa the bakery manager, who offered to bake some sfogliatelle when I inquired, but since I was en route to work I couldn't wait the 25 minutes to take her up on that. I love Wegmans. However-I don't like their clientele. The ambiance is horrible most days. I'm frankly sick of going in there and dealing with rude unsophisticated New Yorkers. Seriously. When you're in a group chatting away blocking an aisle and I say excuse me can I get by-and you roll your eyes and don't move shows me a lack of respect for other humans. When I ask if you can move your cart so I can pull in the parking spot and you scream at me how there's plenty of others and you aren't going to move your cart. Wow that's just a couple of minor examples. I would love to shop this store but can't stand the attitudes Oh and some of your employees are almost as bad. When I'm at a register needing help and the girl at the self checkout is so absorbed texting her friends that she doesn't even notice-there's a problem. And when she comes to the register acting like I've inconvenienced her-there's a problem. I know you can't control your clientele and that's too bad lol. Hear me out: The sub sandwiches at Wegman's are the BEST. I love the "Danny's Favorite" with a variety of cheeses and meats and delicious hot ham. You can pick up some premade sandwiches from the case but if you have a few minutes get them to make you one fresh. Be sure to add some banana peppers, red pepper relish, roasted peppers, deli mustard, and their sandwich dressing. Get it to go or just take it over to the cafe area where you can pick up a drink, pay, and have a seat. I usually time my visits to Wegman's with lunchtime just for this. read more

This was my first visit to a North Carolina location. I was very impressed with the location we visited in Pennsylvania and this one was just as wonderful. They have a huge prepared food area, bakery, and dining area. The staff was very nice. We did not check out the regular grocery part since we were just passing through. I bought a variety of sushi and cookies to take home. My family loved everything we picked out. The sushi was great quality and the dumplings were tasty. We picked a variety of cookies from the cookie bar. My favorite was the chocolate indulgence. I hope Wegmans comes to my area soon. read more

I grew up in Rochester, NY and I have fond memories of Wegmans shopping trips. I have to say this was the most impressive Wegmans that I have ever visited. The various selections of in-store dining were plentiful and delicious. The store also has a beer and wine area with many local craft beer selections. The fresh produce and bakery items were plentiful and I enjoyed several tasting opportunities in the various departments. There is even an elevated Wegmans toy train that runs above. The store is enormous -- like actually surprisingly so -- it is bigger than a Super Walmart. Well they did have to buy-out two car dealerships to build it. All the stuff seems a bit expensive. As someone who doesn't grocery-shop much nor has spent much time up north, I hadn't heard of Wegmans until this location opened in Chapel Hill on February 24, 2021. I've been quite impressed with this place. It's nice. I'm not a supermarket expert. That said, to me, Wegmans is like Whole Foods or The Fresh Market combined with Harris Teeter. Wegmans sells truffles, has steaks in a display dry-ager, and a caviar selection board. Yet it also has aisles full of products you'd typically find at a regular grocery store. My wife, who does 99% of the grocery shopping for us, loves this place and I can see why. Wegmans is unique and fun. Everything we've had from Wegmans has been good to great. We've yet to buy/consume anything from here that was average or worse. Coming from Atlanta, when I've posted pictures of the food we've gotten from Wegmans, my Atlanta friends comment with nothing but good things to say about Wegmans. Comments have included how much people love Wegmans to how they wish Wegmans would open stores in Georgia. Currently, there are four Wegmans locations in North Carolina, all in the Triangle: this one in Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Wake Forest, and West Cary. Currently, these are the furthest-south Wegmans in the country. The chain, which now has over 100 stores, was founded in Rochester, New York and New York is the state with the most locations. Examples of ready-made foods we've enjoyed from this Wegmans include a Chicken Caesar on Ciabatta sandwich ($8.00), King Salmon Poke Bowl ($13.00), Banana Pudding ($6.00), Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich with Vanilla Buttercream ($12.99/lb; the cookie we got was $3.77), Chunky Guacamole ($8.00 for 12 oz) with In-Store-Made Fresh Tortilla Chips ($6.00), Happy Hour Appetizer ($8.00 for a small tray of meats and cheeses), Danny's Favorite Charcuterie ($15.00 for half tray), Mild Triple Creme cheese ($19.99/lb, $5.60/wedge), Nigiri Sushi ($12.99 for 9 pieces), King Salmon Combo sushi ($13.49 for nigiri and rolls), Tres Leches Cake and Strawberry Shortcake ($4.50/slice). "Danny's Favorite Charcuterie" was soppressata piccante, San Daniele prosciutto, and red wine & black pepper salami. I highly recommend Wegmans sushi, charcuterie and cheeses, cookies, and desserts. Wegmans sushi is *the best* grocery store sushi. Other Wegmans-brand groceries, many of which are prepared in-house, that we've liked include their Homestyle Beef Meatloaf ($13.00 for a large piece), Roasted Red Potatoes ($5.57), Blueberry Bagels ($6.00 for 6) and Walnut Raisin Vanilla Bagel Schmear ($3.79), and Wegmans Organic Cold-Pressured 100% Juice ($6.00 for 14.5 oz). My wife has tried more of the food and drink than I have. Among the juices, I've liked the Carrots, Beets & Green Juice the best. We've also been pleased with the produce here, both vegetables and in-season fruits such as organic broccoli ($2.99) and cauliflower ($2.50) florets, red seedless grapes ($1.99/lb), red cherries ($4.99/lb), black plums ($2.49/lb), Caesar romaine lettuce ($1.50/bag), and mushrooms (blend $4.99, gourmet blend $2.99). The mushroom selection is excellent. And my wife likes the assortment of fresh-baked breads. Recently, she picked up a half-loaf of Marathon Bread with Cranberries ($3.25) to make sandwiches to take to work. We've gotten stuff from the self-serve cooked bar too. It was priced at $12.99/lb. There's plenty of seating, inside and out, if you want to enjoy your meal from Wegmans on-site. The outdoor patio has both covered and uncovered sections. Clean. My wife loves flowers. One thing she noticed right away about Wegmans is their shopping carts come equipped with flower holders. I haven't seen that anywhere else. Speaking of shopping carts, the cart return bays in the parking lot are covered. I haven't seen that anywhere else either (at least, not that I can think of off the top of my head). If my wife is out and sees flowers she likes, whether it's at a supermarket like Wegmans, farmers market, wherever, she's likely to buy them. There is finally a Wegmans in Chapel Hill!!!!! I can barely contain my excitement. Before reading the rest of this, note that THERE ARE SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARKING. You will have a much easier time getting in and out if you use the service road by the old BCBS campus. That will plop you right by the Burger Bar entrance, which is way less crowded and easier to get into than the entrance by the Hardees. I will forever call this the Disneyland of Grocery Stores, because it's magical and has something for everyone. Their own brand is awesome (try the popcorn or the seltzer) and very inexpensive. I have to say this was easier to get in and out of than I expected, especially within a couple weeks of the grand opening. I was able to find all of my Western NY staples (Zweigles, Webers, Bison, Helluva Good, Chiavetta's etc.. etc..). Prices are competitive, the store is clean and well organized. Absolutely love the sourdough bread from the bakery! Kudos to the young lady in the wine department. I was looking for my favorite demi-sec Champagne and it was not on the shelf - in fact, that particular brand (Vueve Cliquot) is now very difficult to find in NC at all (thank you Covid-19) but none of us knew that until this young lady in the wine department looked into it. She then brought us into the high end wine cooler to see if anything else caught our attention. Same young lady sang the praises of working for Wegmans - she LOVES her job and loves being there where they treat her like family, and it shows in her very positive attitude. Checkout was not painful. I've been in some stores where you stand in line for an hour waiting to check out (I won't mention any names of these very well known national chain stores). Checkout lines were not backed up and only waited for the one person in front of us. Done in 5-10 minutes and able to get out the door quickly. One thing I've noticed about Wegmans recently - they do not offer a traditional crust pizza in their frozen pizzas - it's either self rising (too much bread) or thin crust (too crispy). I had the pleasure of meeting the floral manager and she and the other gentleman she was sitting with encouraged me to go to customer service and share my experience. Yes, it's a huge chain supermarket. Yes, it's preventing small mom-and-pop shops from being able to compete in many areas. But the selection and value of the many different departments in this store is quite extensive. There are areas for deli sandwiches to order, pre-made sushi, specialty meats, a butcher shop with "regular" meats, a bakery, a hot bar for Asian foods to go, fresh flowers, organic or industrially grown vegetables and fruits, bulk foods, canned foods, dairy products, beer, and wine. It's like walking through a European market, but it's all inside, rather than outside. (That, and no one is smoking!) One of my favorite parts is the uncooked entrees. You can choose a prepared chop, steak, chicken dish, etc. that is ready to put on the stove or in the oven, so that you can have a meal literally in the time it takes the food to cook. Since you can buy one or a dozen, this means it's easy to scale for a party or a small group, or just for yourself. In the wine department, there are maybe fifteen different vermouths. In most groceries, they may have one or two. (I stopped in at a wine store nearby a few weeks back, and they didn't have any!) The staff who work there are also very helpful and outgoing, from customer service, stocking, food prep, to checkout. I have been pleased to notice a very diverse spectrum of folks there as well, which reflects our local area. I remember there was quite a lot of uproar about building it here, changing traffic patterns, and the environmental impact of several acres of paved parking (which, to be honest, I've never seen even half full!) and cutting out a lot of trees. I hope the company starts to rethink some of their land use, but inside the store, things are really nice. Why four stars? I started at five, which I think is how the store itself rates. Then, I took one off for current land use and for the environmental impact of clear-cutting such a massive area. Hopefully, they will rethink such a large area just for cars and plant some trees, put in public sitting, walking, and biking areas along their edges, or otherwise try to heal the wound their construction has done to the area. Currently, in a town with thousands of students, many of whom ride bikes, walk, and/or take public transportation, there is no bike parking or even safe riding/walking space to get there in any way, other than a private vehicle. read more

Everyone says it is expensive - I will admit for a routine bargain shopper like me, Wegmans will not be an everyday destination. But that being said seeing rolls with Caraway seeds, something I have been asking a German-style bakery in Durham for years for, make a trip to this store worthwhile. Beer and an open sandwich with a good cold cut or salami or even speck on a caraway seed roll is just so much better than with the more commonly available poppy seed or sesame roll. Add to that the staff that cuts salami and speck to the thickness you want and a nice selection of pastries and for special occasions, Wegmans will be my go-to for deli and bakery purchases. read more

Oddly enough I've never purchased groceries here but I did eat at their Carolina Burger Kitchen in the cafe so this review is based on that. It's hard to find veggie burgers that are not black bean, impossible burgers or flavored with chipotle and cumin etc so this was a nice surprise. Handmade veggie burgers are harder to find so I was surprised to find this little gem. They have beef, Turkey, impossible and in addition so there is something for all tastes. They have different burger creations that you can get any of the patties on there which I love since so many places serve a veggie burger one way only. They are rather expensive for "grocery store" burgers (~$12) to me but it's worth the occasional splurge to get a burger just how I like it. They deliver on DoorDash as well. read more
