So, we decided to enjoy their dine-in space at Elk Lodge #234 in Niagara Falls. I thought so highly of their dine-in service that I felt compelled to create a Yelp account to share this review. If you are looking for a place that captures the true heart of Western New York dining, look no further than Dudley Catering Co. Operating out of the Elk Lodge, the space has the familiar, welcoming vibe of a cozy corner bar with a great dining space--something anyone from the Buffalo area will immediately appreciate. They offer a solid standard menu alongside weekly dinner specials, keeping things fresh and exciting. We started our meal with a couple of appetizers. My wife ordered the soup flight, selecting the Steak in the Grass, Creamy Chicken & Broccoli, and the Butternut Squash Bisque. She enjoyed all of them, but the squash bisque was her absolute favorite. I decided to try their wings, and honestly, they hold up to the absolute best I've had in the area--perfectly crispy with a delicious sauce. For our entrees, my wife had the Alfredo with beef tips, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I went with the beer-battered fish fry, served with fries and coleslaw. The fish fry was simply amazing! So many restaurants over-batter their fish, but Dudley gets the ratio just right. I also have to give a special shout-out to the slaw; it was such a standout that I genuinely wish I could make mine as good as theirs. We finished off our night by taking home a slice of their homemade Dark Chocolate Oreo Pudding Pie to share. Like all of their desserts, it is made from scratch, and it was absolute dynamite! However, what makes this place truly special--even beyond the excellent food--is the immense heart the owners put into it. I mentioned to April that I have SIBO, which makes my dietary choices quite restrictive. Within minutes, the chef, Johnathon, came out to our table to personally review ingredient lists for items we had initially selected, walk me through the menu, and even offer to make specific modifications to accommodate my needs. I have been to many restaurants where I've mentioned my SIBO, and this is the very first time a chef has taken the time and care to do so. I highly recommend Dudley Catering Co. This week I had a bit of an internal struggle between this and another truck but before you know it I was placing an order and waiting for some wings and fries.The food didn't take long to come out and once i found a seat I bit into my first wing and I have to be honest, it was a little underwhelming. The chicken itself was juicy and very tender, but the chicken itself didn't really have any sort of flavour to it. Maybe I'm missing the point, but it was just lacking that little bit of something to really make them great. The fries were seasoned and actually really good and I most certainly finished those. I will say that the servings here are definitely pretty large and the six wings and fries will leave you unable to order from a 2nd truck. Overall, J&L's BBQ Truck is solid choice for ribs, chicken, or whatever else they have cooking that day. I'll definitely be giving this truck another go and giving the pulled pork a try next time!
