This is the best super market anywhere, hands down. Clean, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the food is so good. Everything I have ever tried is delicious, I will drive a half hour out of my way to get an iced sugar cookie there. The sushi is decent but falls apart. I like to mix their spicy sauce with soy sauce and dip. Also the six dollar meals are a great value and taste excellent for prepared foods. Always fresh. Sitting in their market cafe is actually a pleasant experience as well. I wish I had one closer. read more

So glad that there is a Wegmans in the area. I go here a few times a month. The setup is definitely overwhelming but once you go here a few times you can navigate and find things pretty easily. I love Wegman's!!! Sure, the place is huge but they carry a ton of stuff there. Some of it is pricey and I avoid buying those items there (ie: ready-made dinners, bakery, etc.) but they carry a lot of items that are virtual bargains compared to Giant--namely storebrand canned veggies, deli meats/cheeses, icecream, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful. My criticism of Wegman's would be the way cashiers bag groceries there. In this area, Giant does better at grouping similar things together, but overall I like the savings compared to its rivals! read more

Best grocery store ever! I absolutely love this grocery chain and wish they would venture out to Dallas and Phoenix. Their prepared section is amazing...they have anything you could possibly want and the grocery section is the same and with surprisingly reasonable prices! I wish there was one in harrisburg as its just not convenient to deal with traffic and heading over mechanicsburg to shop when we typically do our shopping at the spur of the moment and have a giant/weis 2 minutes away but giant and weis should be embarrassed by their stores compared to this place. there is nothing this place does not have. I did try the sushi which is made right there but was not too impressed with the crab roll..was very fishy tasting. I am sure the other sushi is ok though.. Great bagels, good prices, awesome selection... Open one in the harrisburg area and you have a customer for life. read more

Well most people would disagree with me, I am not a huge Wegmans fan. I find that their food is overpriced and of No Greater quality than any of the other local large chain grocery stores. Their layout of aisles and location of items also drives me absolutely insane. Their hot bar and food to go is always excellent and their beer selections are usually pretty good. I got my first taste of Wegmans when they began opening in the greater DC area a few years ago. Fast forward to 2010, I shop at Wegmans in Hunt Valley, MD and the Mechanicsburg, PA store when I am in the area. I love the fact that this particular store sells beer, and they have a nice selection of crafts and imports. Wegmans is not my primary source for my food items, but as another reviewer eloquently stated, to "fill in the cracks". I enjoy their hot-bar items and thier bakery items are excellent as well. Many items are pricey, but some are reasonably priced. If you have never been here, my advice would be to go on "off peak" hours so you can really familiarize yourself with the layout and everything they have to offer. It can get chaotic, esp on a Saturday morning, but then again, I guess that's part of the Wegmans experience. read more

There is not many place that I can go for good food in Mechanicsburg, PA. Then there is Wegman's Market Place. In a nutshell, it's like High Class Walmart Food Market. They served various types of foods. After a long day of work, if I dont feel like going to a restaurant for a meal, this is my no-brainer destination. They have various types of foods in there; chinese, japanese, indian, italian, and just old plain pizza. Prize also very reasonable at $7.99/ lb. Was my favorite store until last night when I discovered they turned into communist China in the name of keeping their customers safe. I did not realize they had implemented a one way in and on way out of the store policy as the last time I was there this was not the case, you could enter and exit from both sides of the store. I "entered incorrectly" and realized it when I got around the corner to be greeted by a rent-a-cop who said I must exit and enter through the other door. I said I did not realize the new policy and would enter that way next time. Oh no, this is no longer about safety but now shifted to compliance. He said, I must do it or risk being kicked out of the store for good and I said that's ok and proceeded into the store without complying to the authoritarian attitude and demeanor. Well approx 5 minutes later the rent-a-cop and I'm guessing a cashier had tracked me down and the cashier said sir did you enter in through the wrong door and I said yes and explained I was not aware of the new policy and would comply next time. She said I had to exit the store and come in correctly or I would not be able to check out. I said well I will just leave then as I cannot participate in insanity. I told them both to have a good night and they responded in same but I will not shop at Wegmans again until they are back to normal operations. I will not be treated in such a manner in the name of safety. I'll keep my freedoms and shop in a more reasonable store. read more

Best place for gluten free and organic foods!

Man, if Wegmans had a finger, I'd put a ring on it. I've had to shop at a wide variety of grocery stores, from crappy small town Piggly-wiggly's, and outrageously over priced-yet-grungy Shop-Rites in NJ, and even the occasional Whole Foods/Fresh Market. I would much rather stick to Wegmans. Pros: They are the only store, in the ENTIRE STATE (akaik) to sell beer, AND WINE! They just got one of those PLCB vending machines in, and its nifty. They have a very good selection of locally grown produce, as well as organics. The prices are not as outrageous as some might think (or tell you). Speaking of produce, in the aisle ends, they have an encyclopedia of produce, that tells you what things are, where they're from, how to tell they're ripe, and how to cook them. A helpful little thing. The "Food you feel good about" line of store brands, are cheap, and according to the ingredient label, better for you than name brands. The staff is usually very helpful, and not nearly as cranky and bitter as the grocery clerks I'm used to. Open 24 Hours! This is really helpful to me. Soda prices are consistently at or below average, which is my rubric for store pricing. Very very good, freshly baked breads. Seriously, go and try and catch some when its still warm from their oven. Cons:(yes there are some) For as big as the store is, and the stuff they carry, there are some head-scratching things missing. They don't have Tony Chacher's creole spice, for example. And you can spend a long time looking for specific things. While some of the prices are very competitive, some things can get a bit much. Also, if you're like me, and the allure of cool stuff is there, your bill will easily skyrocket. Prepared foods are a little pricey, but you are paying for convenient, and good food. The Chinese/Indian and salad bars are waay over priced, but if you need a quick lunch they will do. Go, give them a try. Keep an open mind about trying to get healthy food for you and yours, and being open to new foods as well. read more

You're going to pay a bit more in general (with exceptions here and there, of course), but you also get a wider variety of services (like dining, fresh pizza, sushi, alcohol, etc.) Yes, it's also true that you'll lose some brands in exchange for the Wegmans brand version of that item, but you also get a bigger store with more rows and more items overall. read more

Very disappointed in this store. I went there for the second year in a row for breakfast with the Easter Bunny. This event was a total waste of money and my time. This year they had absolutely no activities for the kids and to top it off the Easter Bunny left 30 minutes before the breakfast event was scheduled to be over. After breakfast we decided to do some shopping and when I grabbed a shopping cart and attempted to get a sanitary wipe for the cart handle they were empty on both sides. Apparently the dispensers are just there for looks. Even Giant always has sanitary wipes for the carts. Will not continue to shop there or go to any other events there. read more

I drive about 40 miles just to go to this grocery store. I like that I can find all the off the wall items that I need for most of my food network recipes in one place. I also like the food bar so my family can eat before grocery shopping to help us spend less. Love it! read more

I love Wegmans for many things but I'm so frustrated with my experience with the Asian bar---not only is it so overpriced for the quality(it cost more than their medium pizza for one person) but the food was mostly horrible(sweet and sour chicken overcooked and the worst I've had anywhere at any price) with a few gems in my mix of trying tastes of Asia. Their pizza also is not that great but other than that I usually love Wegmans. read more

This store is the latest in this Rochester NY based chain that just seems to love their employees as much as their customers. A friend told me that they go to Wegman's and always notice how the staff seems to love their job. As for the store itself, what part of huge variety, willingness to get your favorite brand if they don't already carry it, top notch produce and meats, international foods section, and killer subs don't you like? There's free wifi, great coffee, breakfast sandwiches that shame the fast food places, and a prepared foods area that cooks dinner for you if you're short on time. When Wegman's offers a sample, they also show you how it's made and offer all the ingredients right there in case you like it and want to prepare it at home. All in all, I used to drive 80 miles to shop there, now I have one closer. In a class by itself, that's Wegman's. read more

Grocery wise top of the line. Food is amazing here, the sushi rocks, and is always fresh. The Salad Bars have a great variety from Chinese to indian food, and is always clean. The subs are great, fresh meats and produce all the time (Danny's favorite is my personal favorite). And my favorite the pizza, the is reasonably priced with huge slices, oh by the the way it tastes great. The only issue I would have is the price, but quality costs money. Also the grocery store's layout is a little confusing, I have been told the design is to make you "find" more products by making you get lost, but who knows. read more

Wegman's is a foodie's dream, tons of fresh good quality foods, and completive prices on your daily stuff. Store branding here is a safe bet. If it5 says Wegmans's on it, generally it's going to be as good or better then a named brand item. Since the store opened I been making the trek to Mechanicsburg to shop here, passing at least 5 other places I could shop. It's worth it. My grocery bill has decreased about 10% and I feel like I get a lot more quality and quantity for the extra drive. If you like to try out the really awesome gourmet recipes, go here, where else in the area could you possibly find a store that stocks Black Truffle, Loose leaf tea, and an entire cheese shop/olive bar. In the house dining is also worth the stay, depending on when we shop we go and eat before hand in the store. The food is very good quality. They also have a magazine called "Menu" with recipes, and articles. And will have in store events. Over all it's well worth the trip. read more

I had another encounter with Ron (the racist deli guy). There was no one in front of me in the deli line which was rare. He saw me waiting and quickly looked down and pretend to keep working on sorting deli meat. After a few minutes, he asked what I wanted to order without ever giving me any eye contact. I could see the body language which he was showing that he really hate non-White and really dread providing service to non-White.. He even said "thank you" without any eye contact while walking away. Maybe Wegman doesn't think they need to have diversity training since Mechanicsburg is over 90% white. I am giving one star rating because it is those few racists people who work there makes shopping at Wegman not enjoyable or pleasant. read more

I went to Wegmans in mechanicsburg on Friday around 7:20 in the morning. many cars in the parking lot and many people in the store. I went there thinking the first hour of the store opening would be for seniors only. that was definitely not the case. when I checked out, I asked the cashier (a middle aged young man) about this policy which most stores are following. He proceeded to tell me that the whole store made a "group decision" to not follow this policy. He stated that many of their customers "can only shop at this time of the day". It would not be fair to not allow them that consideration. Then he said that it would not be fair to have only seniors for the first hour because "half of that population is sick" and walking around the store. Then their other customers would follow them after that first hour and be exposed to "all of that". I was in disbelief that the gentleman chose to tell me all of that information. He could have just said, we don't chose to follow that policy. Maybe Mr. Cashier just doesn't like seniors. I have news for him. He, too, will be a senior one day. I hope he gets treated very well no matter his age. I will say, I have been in wegmans many times and have always found the employees to be very friendly and helpful. this is my first "not great" experience. You should do better, Wegmans. S. Finest Market place in Pa. From staff to products all around by far the best.

My family stopped at Wegmans to pick up Sushi on Sunday for our weekly Sushi fix. We also purchased a create your own six pack and each of my daughters picked out a new book. We went to the only registers in the market area where you are allowed to check out with beer. The cashiers said you can only checkout with beer and market food there and we would have to go to the main store checkouts to pay for the books. Obviously I am not going to go to the other part of the store for a comic book and a Dora the explorer book. I asked them to please check us out there because it was too inconvenient to drag the kids through another check out line for only two items. They refused. My girls starting crying because they could not get their books, the cashiers said look don't put this on us. I told them it is on you. This store and this area in particular is supposed to be about convenience and they were clearly going out of their way to make the shopping trip as inconvenient as possible. Four items and they wanted us to check out two on one side of the store and two on the other. Give me a break. We left the store with two crying kids and a whole new outlook on Wegmans. I shop there weekly but won't any more. For years I shopped at Giant and you would never have such rotten customer service at Giant. I was shocked and disappointed. If that is the stores policy it sucks, it needs to be convenient and customer friendly and it is the complete opposite. OK and while I am at it... A couple of weeks ago my girls each got a cupcake as their treat. They were almost 6.00 for two cupcakes. We got them home and they tasted horrible. They were dry and the frosting was gross. To my surprise last week while shopping in Walmart, we saw fancy cupcakes in the bakery section similar to the decorated cupcakes they had purchased at Wegmans. We let them each get one ( only .88 cents each vs almost 3.00 ) and got them home and they were delicious. Moist and fresh and the frosting was yummy!! Weeeeeehgman's (pronounced with a snobbish North Atlantic accent) is OK...if you like cheese from France with burnt grape vine soot in it and Gobo lights on the floor with festive seasonal motifs. But the place is extremely hard to navigate, almost nonsensical, with redundant locations. Pricing is poor. And the rewards card actually does not offer any rewards (though I was told by the manager once that you need the rewards card if you want to make a return of merchandise that was sold past-date!). You will do better with trips to Giant (which has most all of the same stuff, without the stuffy) and Aldis. read more

Wegman's is a really wonderful store for produce, cheese, specialty items and grocery items that you want to be really nice. You can expect and receive excellence every time you go (and if you don't get it, they'll bend over backwards to ensure you are satisfied). Some of their day to day items have good pricing, but overall, expect to pay a little bit more than the average grocery store on some things. That said though, the Wegman's experience is worth a little more. read more

Selection of food brands is terrible. No sign to inform customers that beer MUST be paid for in that section, you cannot pay for beer with the rest of your groceries, & when i said forget the beer, i wasn't going back to that section to pay just for the beer, the cashier expected me to return the beer to the correct section & seemed surprised when i told him to get his manager to do it.
