This was my first trip to a Wegmans and WOW! It was a food lovers paradise. I started with sushi from the prepared food section. It was fresh and very good. The cafe sitting area was typical of most area like that. They did have outdoor seating. Overall it was comfortable. The produce section was expansive. They had large and small portions for sale. The bakery was great. I purchased Butter Boy shortbread for my husband and he said they were delicious. It was a great shopping experience. The aisles appeared wider than normal grocery aisles which made a more comfortable experience also. The staff was helpful and there were sample stations near the prepared food aisles. I left buying more than I needed. It is unfortunate Wegmans is so far from home. I could see myself shopping there on a regular basis. If I am ever near another Wegmans I will be shopping other for sure! read more

It's Wegmans if you are from Rochester , NY you get it. It's like a religious experience. This is a nice store and if you wanna sit outside and get some food it's really pretty. In Pittsburgh, Giant Eagle is the dominant supermarket chain. Wegman's is essentially Market District, but a bit fancier and with more ready meal options. Its a nice grocery store. Great layout, clean, loads of options, and a good place to eat your food attached to the store. Good drinks and fair prices for the food, or at least most of the food. Microwaves available to reheat frozen items. I came here looking for a ready meal. There's a lot to choose from. Some items include sushi, Peruvian chicken, pizza, dumplings, Mac n cheese, manicotti, spaghetti with meatballs, sandwiches, soups, salads, and so much more. You'll find something that sounds interesting. I ended up trying a bit of everything. I got a sushi platter to split, a small cup of chicken noodle soup, pork dumplings, fruit, and a white pizza. Surprisingly, the pizza was actually very good! It was cheesy and the portion was quite large for the price. A good choice for sure. Someone else in the store had to wait for a while for their pizza, though, and I heard them complaining. So, do take note that some customs orders might take a bit of time. The chicken noodle was extremely underwhelming. It looked like they were out of soup, but I asked for some and they gave me it. Friendly employees. But, the portion was far too small for the price (about $6 I think). I'd rather have gotten crab salad or something like that, which cost about the same amount. Almost flavorless. The dumplings were quite good. Probably not authentic, but I really liked them. Good amount of dough, but not too much, and tasty meat. I liked the dipping sauce they served it with (light sweetness). The sushi was adequate, too, but not impressive at all. Shrimp tempura and shrimp nigiri were my favorite. The fruit was not ripe and left a lot to be desired. All in all, a pretty good grocery store and mini restaurant. Wegmans Wine & Beer - Wegman's small chicken noodle soup - Beer, Wine & Spirits Near Me - Erie, Pennsylvania

Wegman's is my quick fix for when I'm craving sushi. Their rolls are a decent price, and they even have sashimi. If you're worried about raw fish from a grocery store, I have not had any problems haha! The cheapest roll I've found here is $6.99, and they even have seaweed salad, chopsticks, and an eating area. Complete with a sink to wash your hands. So you can have your meal right in store, which is what I did one day because they say don't go grocery shopping hungry or you'll buy more than what you came for (at least that happens to me). There are lots of prepared hot and cold foods here. They have a great wine selection, both local and imported from other states. There are a wide selection of snacks, baked goods, produce. One thing that confused me was I found pre-cut mangos, but no whole mangos that you can cut yourself (because sometimes, your girl just wants to do it herself for cheaper lol). Or maybe I just haven't found where they are in the store yet. TBH, I obviously looked lost in there, especially after I had to ask them where tofu was haha! Who knew there was a whole aisle dedicated to vegan/vegetarian goods. Tucked behind a bakery. Perpendicular to the meat aisle. I don't know why Yelp is referring to BOTH (yes there are TWO in Erie) Wegmans supermarkets as "Wegmans Wine & Beer" as if it's just an alcohol seller...it's not! It is a full service supermarket. It does have a nice wine & beer selection, but it's SO MUCH MORE. Wegmans can't be beat comparing it to Giant Eagle Market District & even Whole Foods. I am so bummed that this is our closest Wegmans at 1.5 hours from my house. I reviewed the Erie West Wegmans location yesterday & last night we stopped at this Peach St location and got a spicy salmon sushi roll, shrimp fresh roll, Greek salad with chicken & an ahi tuna poke bowl. Plus a loaf of fantastic fresh baked bread. All FRESH (the key word) & flavorful. This is all from their Fresh 2 Go Cafe area. This Wegmans looks to be the older of the two Erie locations & I think the West location is a bit larger & a tad more modern with more prepared foods. This morning we got fresh made breakfast sandwiches with Western eggs (think veggies in eggs), sausage & cheese on very soft English muffins. They were large & flavorful, as in 100% better than one at say, McDonalds. We got a hot & an iced coffee too. Next to the breakfast area they have leather couches & side tables to sit & enjoy your breakfast. We got a Danny's Favorite sub (recommended) to go for dinner later. But at this location I have to say they had the cleanest, fanciest, nice smelling (with fresh sunflowers) ladies room I ever saw in any supermarket EVER! Most supermarket restrooms are gross. This one was sparkling & had TWO full length mirrors & a chair! What? Yes, as a woman restroom cleanliness is important. They also had free baby wipes at the changing table. I have visited Wegman's whenever the opportunity presents itself. Not only do they have groceries, but a fantastic cafe/buffet/take out option to make our area grocery stores hang their heads in shame. On the way out to Chicago, stopped by Wegman's for lunch. On the way back home, stopped at Wegman's to pick up a quick dinner sub. Hot and cold options, wraps or subs, salads and more. Whatever you want on the sandwich, they are only too happy to put on it. Forgot something while you're checking out? Staff offered to ring it up, and said I could go and get it. Wegmans is just the best. It really is a fabulous grocery store and I am insanely jealous we don't have one in the Burgh. We have to make do with Giant Eagle Market District, which tries to rip off Wegmans, but just can't. First off, love their selection of GF items. While Market District has a half an aisle, they have about 2 full aisles. Tons of snacks, pasta, chips, sweets, cereal, etc. It's easy to navigate and I only wish there were more! They also have a decent wine selection. I kept stopping by the wine displays and longingly looking at the rose. I totally would have bought some if I didn't have to bother with going to the cafe to check out. Stupid PA laws. Don't ever take a kid down the candy aisle unless you want to leave with a sugar high kid. It's massive. Plus, I never realized they have a decent selection of bath and body products too, so both kid and adult can splurge on themselves... At a grocery store no less! I have to say I have recently been obsessed with their sparkling water flavors. I cry sad tears when I realize I have to make my parents get me my delicious Wegmans coconut lime and watermelon sparkling water. I have to buy up their stock so I can have a limitless supply at my house in Pgh. I've heard the rumors that there's some kind of gentleman's agreement between Giant Eagle and Wegmans. They pay their workers minimum wage - which surely isn't enough to buy the products within their own stores. Thus doesn't sit right with me. On top of this, they've got a lot of the same products that any grocery store would have, yet everything is priced at least 50 cents higher. I love this grocery store! The staff is friendly, the selection is very broad, international options are plenty, and gourmet high quality foods are everywhere. Lots of grocery stores claim to have high quality products and service blah blah blah... Wegman's actually does. I wish we had one of these out west in California. They'd definitely have my business! I noticed they also had clotted cream, which you can use to spread on scones with jam for a cream tea. That can be pretty hard to find stateside as it is perishable and imported from England. They also store it correctly, in the fridge. Some other stores I've seen it at just place it on the shelf thinking it keeps like butter and is okay to be soft at room temperature, and that is not okay. read more

I don't know if I could ever live in a town where there isn't a Wegmans. I've lived overseas and when I came back to the states I had a taste for some off beat foods. I could never find them stateside or if I did the food was three times as expensive and stale. Wegmans has a well stocked, well rotated, nicely priced international section that you rarely see on the east coast. I am also a fan of the cooking show"Good Eats". The show usually calls for foods like whole vanilla beans or other quality ingredients that sometimes don't get used as often as they should. I find that most stores don't sell enough of these items for me to get them fresh, or if by chance WalMart does sell enough to pass for fresh, it's usually the variety of lesser quality, made in china, etc . No thanks. If I'm going to fork over $$$ for a specialty ingredient it had better be the best. Wegmans is the number one destination for fresh off beat everything. Whether it's organic, international, or just plain weird, they have it. The bakery cranks out some very quality bread and baked goods, the butchers will cut or grind anything you want if they don't have it (including fresh bones for the dogs for cheap), the sushi-to-go is EXCELLENT, the beer selection is EXCELLENT ....honestly we even consider the cafe as one of our favorite places to eat in Erie too. Some of my friends like to say this place is too expensive. Maybe it's because Wegmans seems extra posh, I don't know.( Most of the nay sayers have never shopped there.) I go to Giant Eagle regularly as part of my job because they have a Citizen's Bank thats open late. I'm often tempted to grab what I need for home before I leave.I found that each item I needed was actually DOLLARS more expensive than Wegman's, even on sale. So I beg to differ, Wegmans is pretty darn cheap. NE Oho and NW Pennsylvanian has very few options for quality organic products at realistic prices. Wegmans has a great bakery, with awesome bagels, cookies, and fresh baked rolls. If your a juicer, they carry the basics, kale, spinach, papaya, blueberries; all organic. They also have an "OK" organic section located behind the fruits and veggies with probiotics, antioxidants, kombucha, spirulina, live enzyme products, also Organic cereals, Vegan meals & essentials. As stated in other reviews, "its no Whole Foods", nonetheless, its fresh, open 24hrs., and they also offer a prepared items bar. I will never go to walmart as long as Wegmans in open. It smells great in there and food the produce is excellent and they have excellent beer selection. I have not gone through the whole store but the butchers helped me with a pork selection and then cut it up into smaller cuts at my request for no increase in price. If your hungry on the good around lunch they have chinese, american, hot and cold subs and a area set aside to eat and its just excellent. The store is spotless and they are open 24 hours a day. Like I said, I'll never visit as long at Wegmans is open. read more

Many years ago, while in college in Erie, PA, I discovered Wegman's. I went home to VA after graduation and was sad to leave Wegman's behind. Last week, I traveled up to Erie to visit family. Of course, I had to visit my favorite Wegman's. A niece had recently gotten engaged, and I wanted to buy her a couple of bottles of wine as a celebration. Having absolutely no knowledge of wine, I asked if there was someone who knew wines who could help me. Natalie said that she works the wine section. I told her my parameters (one bottle of white, one bottle of red, $10-$15 per bottle, sweet wines if possible.) Natalie walked me through the wine section a bit and mentioned that they had a local wine section. Ooh, I'm a fan of local products wherever I go. Wegmans Market Cafe on Peach St has been told by management to stop bringing out fresh, warm food at 6:00pm. This is a 24 hour location. I arrived at 6:30pm and the choices were dry, bare and not at all appetizing looking. At least 4 others customers passed by with the same question....where's all the food? The poor staff felt pretty embarrassed having to repeat...Wegmans told us to stop serving at 6pm. Dinnertime! I was offered a microwave to heat up my meal from the other section....no thank you. I took my business, once again to Panera for a fresh, immediate meal. Rochester Wegmans overall quality is 100x's better. Sad since I live here now. read more

We stop at Wegmans every time we're in Erie! We get peanut donuts, and sliced Pane bread (fresh from the bakery), Smith's baloney and Colby Jack cheese (from the deli), and bridge mix (bulk food section) and have a picnic on the drive home! The store has a great selection of specialty cheeses, bakery items, and fresh cut flowers and plants, just to name a few. I love the store displays and atmosphere. Wegmans is the best grocery store, period. In fact, I feel I'm cheapening the place by merely calling it a grocery store. It's like a neighborhood in a building. Honestly, if the crap hit the fan, and if you are near a Wegmans, you could basically start your own country and survive in this place and start a new civilization. There are streets and everything. They have all the groceries you could need and an amazing area to sit and eat/work/relax/read. Baked goods were incredible. MTO food was incredible. They have drinks, televisions airing sports, plenty of seating, community events (there was a gingerbread house making event - free to the public when I was there!) . . . Wegman's has it all. The employees are normal. Probably because it's listed as one of the top top places to work in the US. I don't doubt it. Wegmans... Lived in Erie in the early 90's before peach street blew up into a mega shopping and eatery district it is now. I would visit wegmans almost on a daily basis! Wegmans is what market district tries to be but just can't. From the time you walk in you can tell the difference, all of the produce is from farms close by, and it's always fresh and beautiful. They food court is some of the best food in the area, and seriously the Danny's favorite hoagie is better than any I've ever had.. Period. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I saw a lady yesterday that I remember from 1994!! She is still here and happy and helpful as ever! Living in CA, we have access to amazing food and we are spoiled when it comes to fresh, high-quality food. My hubbie and I go to Erie at least twice a year to visit family and ALWAYs make at least two trips to Wegmans. OMG! OMG! This store is amazing. They have everything you could possibly need. I love this store but I am glad we don't have one in San Diego because I would probably spend WAY too much time in here. Their to-go food section is ginormous - everything from a monsterous salad bar, to homemade sub sandwiches, tons of hot food choices and more! They have a speciality cheese section and the largest olive bar I've ever seen. My sister and I were in town staying at a nearby hotel and we went into Wegman's because she's never been in there and because we needed some adult beverages for our hotel room. I could not believe the selection of beer that Wegman's offered - basically every country was represented. We weren't shopping for beer but if we did, we probably would've had a difficult time choosing just one to try. Oh Weggies, how I love you so. Yes, you're no Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, BUT you're still wonderful in your own little way, so much so that I still decided to give you 5 stars. You are beautiful. And don't tell your little sister that's located off 26th Street, but I like you better. I think one of the best things about Wegmans are the people that work there. They're all so amazingly pleasant. And the massive selection of baked goods. That's damn good, too. Great people and baked goods. That should say it all, right? But they have so much more! The prepared foods are a plenty and the selection of foods in the store is excellent. They have a separate natural/organic area in the store as well as a candy/nut aisle. And they offer fruits like passion fruit, Sumo citrus oranges, dragon fruit, starfruit, papayas, and guavas - all things that make my Filipino heart smile. So I life in a part of the country called Wattsburg but, every Sunday my dad takes me to Wegman's I usually get exotic fruits and, some snacks and food they are almost always in good condition and although a little pricey on Dragon Fruit it is still very tasty they also have snacks food and drinks from different places around the world like drinks from Japan to biscuit's from England they are always very tasty and exceed my ecspectations every time my favorite grocery store and definitley not any Walmart or Giant Eagle if you want quality this is the place to be. read more

I love the shopping experience. I love how you feel like Wegman's was thinking about its customers, like umbrellas at the door, customer help with grocers, just for the asking, excellent child care, diapers in the bathroom and other forgotten unmentionables, step stair for the sink. serving their own hand soap, their own line of organic foods nearly the price of the regular brand. I would have rated Wegman's higher but for three things. I really cant stand the loud sound of the shopping carts on the brick floor,and the prices are high than the standard of living in Erie. The last thing that really prompted me to wright today is I wonder if Wegman's ever thought about where they put their Natural Foods section of the store. You would think that the designer would know that people who are trying to shop in the "Healthy" part of the store might avoid meat, chicken and fish not to mention live lobsters and clams. Just smell and sight turns my stomach.
