The food was good and always is, served quickly and nice and hot. The service was friendly and prompt. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My complaint is they allowed a man with a large breed dog (Labradoodle) to be in the dining area. The man was throwing a ball for the dog to fetch all about the room. This was not a service dog, nor a companion dog, as these dogs are trained to sit quietly nearby. The dog was big, lanky and uncoordinated, and was knocking into tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't get why the staff didn't at least ask him to keep the dog under control, and personally I don't think personal pets should be in restaurants. I believe the management is inconsiderate of their customers if they continue to allow this to happen. Had lunch there today. It was borderline unforgivable. I've eaten at the Voodoo in Meadville, I've eaten at the Homestead one (now closed) and the Pittsburgh North Shore one (also closed, apparently), and they were perfectly fine tavern food. This one? In Erie? Holy hell. Everything fried (chicken and fries) seemed like it had been left in the fryer for WAY too long. My friend's BLTA sandwich with "toasted" bread, was served on buttered (or perhaps even greased/oiled) bread that had been thrown on the grill, and lacked the "A"vocado -- I took a bite and had to go to the rest room to wash my hands it was so greasy. Their 'original' Good Vibes beer was served in a short Belgian-style goblet instead of a full pint, so they're juicing the beer profits too. Came on Friday with it being very mellow. Not many people in and ordered the truffle fries for a quick snack. The fries came out very cold and incredibly greasy. Each bite tasted like straight oil. So off putting. Super disappointing. It wasn't busy at all and fries seem pretty hard to mess up. First let me say the beer is incredible. I would definitely return to have a beer it's so good. The restaurant is self serve so you order food/drinks at the bar and you can sit wherever you want. You get a text message when your food is ready so you pick it up at a window where the kitchen is located. You so have to get your own water and dispose your own trash. Voodoo Brewery is such a fun location downtown with great drinks and surprisingly delicious food! The bartenders are extremely nice and are happy to make honest suggestions on drinks, and happy to supply games for you to play while you enjoy drinks, like my favorite - super sized Jenga. I love the interior and outside patio area, they're both beautifully decorated with such a fun, unique aesthetic! Such a fun place to sit and enjoy with friends. Totally dropped in unexpected to Erie for the weekend to see a concert and stopped at this place. The outdoor seating area is very pretty, well kept and spacious. You have to walk up to the counter to place your food and drink orders, no service staff which is a neat feature, as it is left up to the guests to clean up after themselves. This should be more common of a setup, that way the customer doesn't completely destroy their table and get up and leave. Or maybe some people still do just to shit on their fellow customers that are next? Anyways, got the mushroom burger, it was cooked perfect and the mushrooms were fresh, not canned!!!! Subpar customer service. First time eating here. Went for lunch with a friend. We ordered an appetizer, Pommes Frites ($8). I had the Voodoo Black Bean burger ($13) w/Sweet Potato fries (+$2). Friend had the Foodoo burger ($16) w/Sweet Potato Fries (+2). While the Pommes Frites were good, they were served with our meal. Isn't the appetizer supposed to be out first?! Unless the SP fries were super sweet, they seemed to have a coating, sweetening them up more. Not cool. The dip for them was a super sweet concoction. We were offered a substitution from the side of kettle chips, but we're not told it was an additional $2! The woman who took out order was perfunctorily friendly. She did not come by to check on our status. Outside of the order-taking, her other interaction with us was to lower the blower over our table. The BB burger was tasty but possibly the mushiest BB burger I've ever had. Overall, I was not impressed with the food or the service. At $53 (pre-tip) for lunch for two, it was overpriced. (I left a barely over 15% tip because they still worked even if mediocrely.) I won't take the initiative to go again unless it's what the other person/group wants. Maybe it's the place for beer (I was working so did not drink) but not the place for lunch. Save your lunch money and try some other place. read more

The two stars is for the fantastic beer. Here's the thing, though: Ordered two Chopped Salads at 10 bucks a pop and we got side salads with wilted lettuce, it was pretty much a 90% markup. I came here on Sunday to meet a friend. I've never been to the Erie downtown location. She suggested us to meet up and pick the place so I couldn't refuse. Underneath the clock tower in downtown Erie is where Voodoo Brewery calls home. The space was very open with exposed industrial ceilings. We were able to sit wherever we wanted there was high tops and low tables. If you wanted to order you had to go to the bar and put your order through the bartender. You got a buzzer that would ring when your food was ready. Then you go to the back to pick it up along with your utensils. I liked that it was fast and efficient but...I would have been slightly happier if they gave us a tray or something to carry everything to the table. A server or a tray would have been nice. I ordered the watermelon slushie, green bean fries, and the honey mustard chicken salad. The slushie while good I had 2 issues with. 1. It came in a plastic throw away cup. There was no need for that, a regular glass could have been used for less waste; and 2. The watermelon chunks for the top of the glass were bad. When I bit into them they tasted wasted. Watermelon is tricky and those hunks were not good, the drink was but it put me off a bit. The order of green bean fries was super large. I took them home and my two sisters ended up finishing them off. This app could be shared with a large table for sure. The honey mustard chicken salad was good. I loved the honey mustard used to marinate the chicken in. The only thing I would change would be smaller chicken pieces. The chunks were just a bit too large to easily eat with the salad. It was a fun place to hang out. I might stop in again when visiting Erie. read more

Everything in this place - the menu, the BYOB notepads, seating, ambiance, local artwork, extensive draft list, music, outdoor area - all have been thought through and well-curated for this space. The menu makes you so excited to eat there & it was so hard to choose my lunch - and I'm vegetarian! That doesn't happen often! I was so impressed with all of the yummy vegetarian options. I decided on the Voodoo Veggie Pizza and I added on a house salad. The pizza was huge for just me; it's easily for two people, and it was totally packed with fresh and pickled veggies. It was just incredible. The sauce was an herby oil-based sauce instead of tomato sauce, and the crust looked thick at first, but it was fluffy and absolutely mind blowing. The house salad could have used an interesting topping or two, to make it as memorable as everything else on the menu, but I was still happy with it. I was blown away by my first trip to Voodoo. This place is kind of unbelievable. Food that knocks the shoes and socks clean off. Service so respectable that it makes you want to put your shoes/socks back on. And brews so wonderful that may require you change shoes, socks when your body inadvertently reacts to the pure delight it is experiencing drinking them in an unexpectant fashion (a very unexpectant fashion). And all these great reasons to go here are without mentioning that the word "voodoo" is literally in the name of the joint. Your best bet is to make your own burger. You can choose from seven different kinds of patties (i.e. Angus, Kobe, Lamb, Turkey, Black Bean, Boar or Chicken). It your sections don't stop there. You then have to choose from six buns and ten types of cheese! Now, the food is amazing, but I suppose Voodoo doesn't deserve all the credit. After all, I built my own burger, which was a boar burger with melted brie, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions and tangy mayo on a pretzel bun with a side of sweet potatoes fries. In fact, perhaps Voodoo should probably write a Yelp review on me on how fantastic my decision making is, shower me with compliments, and then accidentally urinate on my floor with waves of overwhelming joy. I stopped in Erie overnight on a road trip and decided to do some local exploring. After a lovely evening ride through Presque Isle State Park, I went in search of a local new pub. BINGO! I ordered the Voodoo Hoodoo, a nice hazy IPA and thought I'd order a little something to eat while I sat at the bar. I ordered a pretzel with beer cheese and an order of zucchini fries. I should clarify that the pretzel is listed on the menu as a giant pretzel and I just thought it would be a normal giant pretzel. Instead, it was a pretzel of ENORMOUS PROPORTIONS, large enough to cover an aluminum disc commonly used for pizzas. And it was DELICIOUS. Perfectly cooked and salted dough with beer cheese sauce that was excellent and also a grainy mustard. I can't neglect the zucchini fries as they were excellent with a great ranch dipping sauce. I brought most of it back to the hotel along with a 4 pack of the Hoodoo IPA. read more

I was visiting Erie for a weekend trip and came across Voodoo Brewery. I have to say I loved the vibe and the Watermelon Lemonade Seltzer was delish! The food was so good and loved the Gluten Free options! I ordered a Mushroom Swiss burger with a GF bun and it tasted delish and didn't even know it was GF either! My friend had ordered from the brunch menu and ordered an omelet with Cajun hash and he said it was very good too! I would definitely come here again for sure! read more

Very cool brewery in downtown Erie! The building has lots of history; it's pretty neat to see how they've preserved the historic character of the building but made it fit their "feel". They do tasting flights of a specific five beers (when we visited, it was four flagship plus one seasonal), but you can get tasting size pours (4oz) of any beer they have. You order food from the bartender and pick it up from the big window on the side. I had a veggie wrap (decent but SPICY, be forewarned!!) and my husband got a burger. His was excellent, I should've ordered that instead! We were there on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty quiet- maybe five or six groups in the whole place.
