I called probably at the beginning of last month to book a reservation for a friends brunch I throw every season. This was my first time ever trying out Luminary, there menu looked pretty decent for brunch and the drink list looked AMAZING. I was hesitant because it is such a large group and sometimes especially on weekends restaurants are not very welcoming to reservations or larger parties. I got there about 15 minutes early, they had everything set up nicely, they showed me where we would be sitting at and as I waited on the rest of my party to arrive the waitress that we had was PHENOMENAL. She was so kind and very on it. When the rest of my party arrived, everything went smooth from the drinks to the food. It was a great time and just know we will be back again! read more

Stopped into Luminary Distillery for a quick lunch while traveling and it did not disappoint! The Turkey Club was massive--definitely a two-hands kind of sandwich--and packed with flavor. The fries were perfectly crispy and well-seasoned, exactly how they should be. I was working so I didn't get to sample any of their distillery beverages this time, but the menu looked very tempting. Food was delicious! We had a burger and a peach and prosciutto pizza. They had baked goods and liquor and mules in cans and apple cinnamon bread. They had cookies wrapped up special for gift-giving. They were nice! In a strip mall very unobtrusive so don't miss it! Right down the street from the Sammich Bros so if they closed, go 700 feet further and boom there ya go. I was visiting Erie for the weekend and I searched distilleries and this hidden jem popped up. I overviewed the menu and decided this is the culinary experience I'm looking for. Once entering I was met with bright lighting and a huge dining space and bar. The luminary theme is throughout the building with interesting light fixtures and lightbulb merch. The distillery was full on a Saturday evening so I proceeded to sit at the bar. They make all of their alcohol and they feature it with a book of fresh cocktails and special attention to "Moscow mules" providing different variations. I had a flight of local craft beers and the blanco tequila they make. The beer flight was tasty I had a variation of ipas and Irish red beers. The beers flight was 5, 1oz samples. The tequila was so good I got a second shot. Everything on the menu sounded delicious so I chose the peach and prosciutto pizza, and it was amazing. Fresh peaches and fresh arugula made the pizza tasty and unique. I also ordered the Italian herb bruschetta chicken, delicious . The quality ingredients this restaurant uses is amazing. You can purchase the alcohol, they make flavors like apple pie moonshine, cherry pie moonshine and a light house reserve brandy. The service was attentive and friendly. Every time I come to Erie I'm stopping here! They have brunch on Saturday and Sunday and a delicious looking bakery. I looked on their instagram and they have a talented cake and cookie artist the dessert quality matches the quality of the food and drinks this establishment provides! read more

I found Luminary Distilling charming in downtown Erie charming. I spotted it when I was walking my dog and we went in for a low-key drink later that evening. They really delivered. I had the Creamsicle martini, and it was very smooth and fruity, with vanilla vodka and their own brand tangerinecello. I also tried the cello solo, and ended up buying a bottle. It has a great flavor, and stacks up well against Noble Cut in Columbus, my favorite place for citrus infused vodka! We are super excited we found this place in Erie. Excellent food. The charcuterie board was made up with love, not your usual store bought items. The cheese and meats were so good along with the apple butter, and perfectly baked toasts. The Ruben pizza was a winner and the crust was so fresh. As for the drinks, plenty of options. Not the best atmosphere felt like I was in a where house. Food was too pricey for the Luke warm food and soggy fries. Will not go here again. Not worth the $61 I paid. My niece ordered an apple cris dessert to go and it was cold and no ice cream like it said on the menu. I asked for a pecan sticky bun and got a cinnamon roll instead. Came here for brunch and will DEFINITELY be back. The food was fresh and amazing, the service was great, the restaurant is beautiful, and the drinks were so good. I got the avocado toast for myself and was so happy with it. I've tried other brunch places in Erie where they just smear some guac from the store on a piece of bread and call it a day, but this tasted just as good as it looks. Everything was so fresh! My partner was really excited to show me the best brunch place he's had in Erie. However, we both left disappointed in the place. He always got the brunch burger and boasted that it is always amazing. This time however, it was dry bland and was well done when asked for medium. It's been a couple months since he's last been there and he noticed the staffing and customers is less than it use to be. No one was at the front to greet us. We waited a while to be seated and were not given water like what all restaurants do. We had to go up to the bar to request it. My partner ordered a Bloody Mary and it took 15 minutes for the shrimp to come out for the drink.... I had the prime rib omelette. Unfortunately there was zero flavor to it. I drenched the dish with salt and pepper to make it somewhat appetizing. The eggs were also pretty rubbery. The roasted potatoes and the side of bacon I ordered were good at least. I also had the mimosa flight. Most of it was pretty bland to me. The only good one was the cider. Hopefully it was just a really bad day but my partner was really devastated on how this place has gone downhill. read more

I have been to Luminary Distilling many times in the past to purchase baked goods and apple cider but never dined there until today. I took my son and daughter to lunch there today and had a very pleasant experience. The food was excellent - I had the portobello mushroom sandwich and my two teenagers had the pepperoni pizza. The sandwich was delicious and the pizza "awesome" as described by my picky eaters. Our server was a nice young lady named Grace who was friendly and efficient. She recommended a bottle of their "Apple Pie Moonshine" and "Apple Cider Donuts" from the bakery, which we purchased for take-out. Now for the facility - rustic atmosphere, clean and spacious (tables aren't jammed too close together). The manager(?) stopped by our table and asked if everything was perfect - it certainly was. Went for late lunch with a friend and my dog. Ate outside at the patio. Covered tables to keep the sun off. Waiter Scott C. was super nice and helpful. I was peckish and he helped me figure out something that was just right for me to eat. I didn't want alcohol or caffeine and he came through with a blast from the past that perked up my dreary end of work week feeling. I brought a bowl for my dog and they filled it up with water. My friend asked for a few simple things to change from the menu also and it was no problem. All of our food came out in good time and just as it should be. It tasted and looked great. It was relaxing and peaceful, we felt like we actually had a unwind. I regret not taking any pictures but I recommend visiting there and taking a few of your own. read more

We stumbled across it while on a road trip from Chicago to Boston, and the cocktails and nibbles were so good that we made a point to stop in again on the way back to Chicago. Food is good, when you can get served... Went there about 6 months ago and it took an hour to get our appetizers. I planned on eating my dinner there but ended up getting the apps to go. Went back today to give it another chance and wasted my time. Sat there for 20 minutes, multiple waiters and waitresses walked by and never even offered us a water. We left. If you're looking for a drink this is by far Erie's best place to go. Luminary distills it's own vodka and wheat whisky. It also makes its own apple and peach moonshines, and limoncello. You can go in for a sampling or try an assortment of specialty drinks. On my visit I tried a traditional Moscow Mule as well as an Italian Mule made with its limoncello. Both were outstanding! My guest we with a Cranberry Mule and a Mocchatini. They we're out of this world. The drinks are all craft made. There are no pre-mixes here. Even the ginger beer is locally brewed. Though they don't sell food, they let you bring it in. And Brooklyn Pizza (which we tried) delivers rather quickly. In all, a great experience and I look forward to going back again. read more

In the absence of the ability to celebrate in any restaurant or bar for New Year's Eve, we were able to order dinner and drinks from Luminary to take home. All I can say is phenomenal. Our filet mignon was cooked to perfection, and included a delicious sauce that was unique. A beet salad with arugula and goat cheese, not something I would typically order... or eat, was surprisingly delicious with flavor pairings I just did not anticipate. A veritable cornucopia of flavors. And the potatoes... smashed with flavor, were almost as good as the exquisitely seasoned side of broccolini. I don't typically enjoy vegetables, but that night I ate them all. My mom would be proud. Needless to say, I was not expecting this level of gourmet cuisine from a place known for distilled spirits. We were amazed at the quality of this New Year's eve dinner. And Kelly served us up some holiday drinks to go that were also amazing. Those came as no surprise.
