On March 23, 2026, after receiving a letter from Safeco Insurance saying that my policy was being canceled as of June 7 because the product was being discontinued in CA, I immediately called W&H. I spoke to a woman who said it was too early to find a new policy and they would be contacting me at the end of April. Of course, they never called back and my policy lapsed. I spoke to the same woman today at W&H who blithely said, "sorry, it fell through the cracks." So if I had a fire in the last 7 days I would not have had any coverage. What an amazing customer service experience! Bernadette was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and friendly!

Poor customer service: agent was asked to terminate/not renew a policy after insurer had insisted I had to terminate coverage/not renew through the agent. 4-5 days after notifying Weingarten & Hough I received a statement of premium due for policy renewal. Called the agent, was "transferred" to an employee, whose voicemail indicated he'd return my call at some point. I left a message w/name, number, acc't number, policy number. 3 days later, haven't received a return call. I guess it's telling that the employee's VM doesn't give a time w/in which callers will get a call back. Not my idea of good customer service. read more

I contacted Heidi at this office and had nothing but poor customer service. It started out promising with me sending her all of my declaration pages of my present insurance so she could match apples for apples with Insurance: she could provide me. I had asked her to quote me on my primary house, my vacation house, my rental property, my work van, my wife's car, and our motorcoach. Along with earthquake insurance for my primary house. After about four days all I received was a quote for my primary house and my two vehicles. Called her back and left a message early morning never heard anything back call again later afternoon to ask what about my other quotes never heard back. Next day called and left a message in the morning never heard back, called back later in the afternoon I got a hold of her and she acted as though she couldn't be bothered to get me the rest of the quotes. Kept putting me on hold, one time for four minutes so I just hung up with her. Finally got me a quote on the earthquake and when I asked her about the rest of the quotes she flippantly said "oh maybe in a few days I'll get back with you"!!! Contacted her office manager to report such poor customer service. And I really wanted to go with a local company here in Palm Springs and I had known of the company for 40+ years here in town. Of the 5 different companies I reached out to regarding getting quotes for all of this insurance, this was one of the worst customer service experiences. All of the other companies responded in a very timely manner and were much more professional and courteous! So I will no longer be inquiring for insurance with this company. read more

I agree with Ray M.. This agency used to be exceptional, but since Greg Hough sold it things have gone downhill. I have been a client for many years. Recently I called three times to inquire about changing my coverage. Twice I had to leave voicemails (for Heidi) and my calls were not returned. Last week I called and actually spoke to someone who was supposed to call me back with quotes. Guess what.....I never received a call. This leads me to believe that they wouldn't be much help if you ever actually had a claim. read more

Lack of follow-up, difficulty in getting timely and accurate information, even to get the name of the head of the agency and their contact information to report my frustrations. I can highly recommend Weingarten and Hough and Miguel Reynaga! I have been using this insurance agency for many years and have always received great customer service from all of their agents (home, auto, business, health care policies, etc.). But this year with cost increases in homeowner's policies, I had to make a quick decision and Miguel was fabulous! He was able to get me quotes immediately and answered all of my questions (and there were a lot) quickly. Miguel made the process very easy and I would definitely recommend this agency. read more

They will give you a quote and process the paper work. But customer service is not as responsive or as pro-active as what I have experienced with other agencies. In may case, I got the rate quote, etc. but in my email I asked the agent to please send a courtesy email response to let me know that they received the paperwork that I emailed them. I got no response. I had to give the agent a call to get confirmation that they got it. A higher level of customer service would mean that they would email a courtesy response as requested -- the customer should not be chasing after them. Also, the premium turned out to be higher than rate quoted when I got the premium payment detail. It would have been nice to get a call from the agent that the premium was going to be higher. I had to call the agent to find out why there was a difference in the premium. So don't expect a pro-active or superior customer service. read more
