I bought my Craftsman push-behind new almost 10 years ago and have never done a proper tune-up on it. This summer at the new house it decided to conk out on me in the middle of a lawn cutting. Needless to say my lawn was getting some evil looks from some of the well-to-do neighbors so it was dire to get it repaired ASAP. I tried my best to fix it myself (new plug, new air filter changed the oil and gas) and ended up zip tying some lever taught to get it to run long enough to finish the lawn. I dropped it at Weingartz the next morning and they got me in right away, helped me get the mower out of my car, got me an estimate for diagnosis and told me when it would be done. They charge a flat rate diagnosis fee that;s tacked on to your repair bill but it was worth them looking at to find out that a part had broken off the throttle assembly which was the main culprit. They squared me away for around $150 and wrapped up the job a day ahead of schedule. Maybe a little pricey given they didn't role the assessment fee into the repair but a quality service shoppe taboot. read more

If you need a snowblower or a lawn mower, I'd be surprised if you can't find one that will fit you. They have a huge selection and are very helpful. We recently had a problem with our snowblower that we had bought from here and we correctly assumed we had a problem with the spark plug. Their maintenance department is pretty well stocked and had what we needed. The only thing that surprised me that they didn't have any spark plug sockets but it was easy enough to find elsewhere. read more

I bought a zero turn Cub Cadet to mow 7 acres of land. The unit went back to Weingartz 4-5 times for leaking oil and a couple of minor issues. Well, I was very upset a $3500 mower with 80 hours on it was not performing well. Weingartz went over the mower once again; not only fixing all the problams, but also replacing the blades for free. The unit has now performed flawlessly the whole year. The service team did an outstanding job standing behind the product they sell. read more

Wow, Could not have had a worse experience...AND, still ongoing. And I will add, I am mechanically inclined and not an idiot. I purchased a Cub Cadet Tractor XT3 in June 2020 from Weingartz in Farmington, MI. What a bad decision. I was looking to purchase a Deere X700 series but the salesperson talked me out of this. Again, what a mistake. First, after I purchased the Cub, I also purchased the mulch kit. Weingartz said they would install. A few days later they dropped off the tractor. I immediately fired it up, engaged the blades, and the blades seized under the deck. The delivery driver was only a few miles away, so I called him back. He (Jeff) inspected, saw the blades seized on the deck. Jeff took the tractor back to Weingartz. I received a call a few hours later that went something like this. "Oh, you must have adjusted the deck the wrong way, so that is why they seized". My response was "Yeah, I am not an idiot; you obviously didn't check the blades and fired up the machine after you installed them". Of course the Weingartz guy decided he wanted to tell me I was wrong, but again, I am not an idiot and have performed changing blades on tractors at least 20-30 times now. The tractor was re-delivered. Next, Because of the blades being installed improperly, I decided I needed to give the tractor a good once over. Come to find, "The Weingartz Service Guarantee" is full of crap. There was ALMOST NO OIL in the machine, barely touched the dip stick. The back of the machine had dirt on it, the grease fittings needed greasing. The gas tank was just about empty. So I asked to speak to the Owner. After sitting on hold for 22 minutes, service picked up. Yeah, not whom I asked for. They ended up transferring me to sales. Again, not whom I asked for. When I again asked to speak to the owner, I heard someone say in the background, "Who is it, just tell him he is not here. He is trying to leave". Wow, nice blow off there. So they transferred me to James the Sales Manager. James was useless. When I told him what had happened, he apologized and said, "We made a mistake, our service team dropped the ball. That is not how we prepare our tractors". (Well, it obviously is). James didn't offer to take care of the situation, but "oh, we made a mistake" was his response. But then, James went on to insult me saying, "If you want to buy something else, I will see if I can get you a discount". WHAT? Why would I ever buy something here again? (And I wouldn't if I were you). So James decided instead of making things right, he was going to try to sell me something else. WOW, (Some people just do not get it). Still ongoing issues. Every time, YES EVERY TIME we use the tractor now, the deck falls off. (Yes, you heard me correctly). The deck falls off at some point while cutting the grass. The spring tension pins come loose and the deck falls to the ground. Or one side is off and the other is on, so the deck is lopsided and hanging. So now, I have to call this crappy company Weingartz again. This is pathetic. I am not sure if the Cub Cadet is a piece of crap or "Weingartz service guarantee" just sucks so bad that they cannot prepare a tractor properly. Based on my experience this far, I am going to say it is Weingartz. Weingartz obviously didn't prepare the tractor; lied about preparing the tractor, and frankly, the people you talk to at Weingartz could give a crap about your issues. DO NOT BUY AT WEINGARTZ!!!! read more

Horrible return policies, different standards, depending how much you spend. I used to own a landscape company, spending tens of thousands every year, never had an issue returning something that did not meet my expectations after use, even a 10k stand on aerator. Now that I am just a homeowner, the return policy is different, once you use it for the smallest of time, you own it for good. At salesman's suggestion, I purchased a Stihl battery powered blower and trimmer. I used the trimmer for less than 1 minute and realized immediately this equipment would not work for me. I wiped off the few blades of grass under the guard and tried to return the 2 items (about $300), but without examining the equipment to see it was still brand new, the manager refused the return, stating their policy is they cannot return ANY equipment that has been used. The manager made this decision from his/her office, never coming to speak with me, then he/she has ignored my email. I may not spend 10,000 to 100,000 a year on equipment any longer, but whatever I spend, I can guarantee not a cent of it will be spent at Weingartz. read more

They picked up my riding tractor for a tune up. A MONTH LATER after several phone calls they finally fixed it. They obviously cater to their commercial customers first. When you're in the store the sales people aren't in a big rush to help you. Their service people at the counter seem to be constantly typing and looking at their screens and not at their customers. I have no idea what 5 service people could be typing on their computers, it's not NASA. The problem is that there are not a lot of places that service lawn tractors. read more

8/12/14 Update to the my review. I spoke with the owner and got no satisfaction. He did not apologize for his employees attitude and told me I was responsible for any damage that happened in their care but they would cover some of the costs as a good will gesture. They covered maybe 25% of the damage that happened on their watch. This is something I can't understand as I entrusted my functional lawn mower to them. They ended up charging me for things (belts, parts) I had told them not to as I had spares at home. They also said that they had sharpened my blades and washed the machine. Sadly the blades were not sharpened if not duller and it was as dirty as it was when I dropped it off. Both items were originally things I was looking forward to as a part of their maintenance special (really just a gotcha deal it seems to have turned out to be. I'm never going to give business to this company again. The owner preached to me that they are a family business and don't practice gotcha tactics. My experience says otherwise. read more

Easy access, open floor plan and no pressure where I was allowed to shop the well stocked store. Aaron in sales was full of knowledge that matched my research. I'm a highly experienced chainsaw user but my two saws were purchased in 1981 and these saws have cut several hundred face cords and been rebuilt three times. I chose the Stihl and have cut four face cords so with the price of firewood it would have cost more than the saw to buy, plus I got the workout which oddly is just therapeutic. DONT TRUST THE SALES TEAM!! I bought a 3,642 dollar Cub Cadet Riding lawn mower. From the Weingartz in Farmington Hills, MI. The sales associate said no questions ask factory warranty on parts and labor for the ENTIRE mower including the motor for 3 years. It turns out that this is not the case the motor is only covered for 2 years which is not what I was told at the time of purchase. I will say I just got off the phone with a gentlemen that was very informative and I am still with in the 2 year warranty and it will be fixed at no cost to me. He also is picking my mower up from my home at no charge to me which normally they don't do after the first year of ownership. The pick up service usually costs 80 dollars. Worst service department in the industry. Don't go there for service. Brought in snowblower, they had it for five weeks. They said delay was due to slow parts delivery. Then I get a call saying they can't get the parts and they were never ordered. They then return the snowblower disassembled missing screws, nuts and bolts. I get on Amazon and get the parts THE NEXT DAY but now have to hunt down the parts Weingartz failed to return. Called several times requesting the parts be returned...no return call. Disappointment to say the least! read more

I researched many companies before purchasing my Honda HRX217K5HYA from Weingrtz. I could have purchased from a number of companies including Home Depot but I want a company that would stand behind the lawnmower with a service department. Service department not what it claims to be. Twice I took mowers in for repair and came out with more problems when when I went in with. Just recently, took my Honda that I purchased from them for a tune up and got it back with another problem that I didn't have when I brought it in with, transmission drive. They messed it up completely and when I returned it to check out, they claimed nothing found. I will not step back into another Weingartz. Please do not make the mistake I have done. Our company bought all of our snow equipment from this location over the last few years and have had nothing but issues with brand new equipment . The tailgate salter unit we bought is a snowex and we have had nothing but issues. It's been in to be fixed within the last year 12 times. The motor keeps going out along with the poor quality of the wiring that the service did. All we keep getting is excuses each time we drop it off and then we are told they will get right on it only to call up the service dept and they haven't even looked at it. It has gotten to the point that the rep that sells them the equipment is involved and still minimal effort has been given. The service and reliability of this company is awful and the lack of care is nothing but sad. We have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars with this company and truly are sorry we did. As a GM for a company I would recommend taking your business somewhere else and not wasting your time here. If I had the option to give zero stars I would have. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've visited this store 3 times in the last two months to buy parts for a blower I bought here and each time had the exact same horrible customer service experience; tonight was the last straw. I walked into the store at 5:15 and the lone service rep behind the parts counter was helping the person in front of me, I was next in line, a few minutes later another woman walked in and stood behind me. After 15 minutes of still being next in line I realized that nobody had said to us "someone will be with you in a minute" or thank you for your patience we'll be right with you", nothing was said. As I looked around the showroom I counted seven other employees standing around talking to each other, no they weren't helping customers they were just bullshitting with each other. They didn't dare look at me for fear that it might bring an end to their important conversation and they might be obligated to help me so I could GIVE THEM MY MONEY. I then walked over to the sales counter and asked for the store manager, minutes later James Moeller came out and I told him that despite several employees standing around nobody was helping me or the other woman in line. He simply said "I'm sorry" that was it; not how can I help you, or what is it that you need and no other worthless employees came over when they overheard my conversation with him. I told James that I will never come back to this place, ever. Again he said nothing. So here's my question: How far does one have to go up the Weingartz chain of command before someone cares about customer service? Because I can tell you this, it sure isn't James Moeller or any other talking heads on the sales floor. If I could give this place a negative 5 stars I would. read more

I just bought a Cub Cadet 26" snow blower from the Farmington Hills Store on Monday 2/15/21, used it the next day after work, stopped to have dinner and returned to blowing snow but now the clutch/drive system isn't working. So Wednesday I return it, leaving work early so I can get it to your shop before you close (loss of wages). I call the next afternoon and you tell me you have to order parts and it could take 3-5 business days, why didn't you overnight the parts??? I just paid over $1000.00 and didn't even get half a tank of gas through it! Why didn't you offer and upgrade, you know it's winter and another storm is coming in a week. If I had bought this at Home Depot or Lowes I could have returned it and went home with a new one, as my Father-in-Law did with his tractor. Now the snow is coming again and I have nothing but an empty wallet to plow the snow with! This is a major failure on Weingartz for customer service, I try to support local and small shops and I have bought a few things from Weingartz in the past, but this will be the last time I use Weingartz as their major flaw has reared its head. Don't say sorry because that is just lip service because you are not, you got my money and you don't care anymore and that is the bottom line. Most expensive option, but led me to believe that parts were in stock so I didn't mind paying more until.....week later I get an email:"sorry only one item in stock and we will hold up your order until its complete. Hope it is not a problem not shipping your order for a month". Don't tell me you have parts in stock and then hold the order hostage when you do not. A reputable company would have shipped what they had and then paid the freight when the back order came in! I the least they could do but instead, no we will hold the order until all items show up and hope i don't mind not mowing my yard for a month or more. read more

Bought a Radius E Exmark zero-turn mower on 8/10/19 , this being my first zero turn machine I wanted to get one that was both appealing to the eye as well as give me a professional cut. I thought that's what I did until I detailed the mower after a couple of cuts, and found cosmetic issues with the fenders...they were called witness marks ( Unappealing marks from the manufacturing process ) You would think that for $6780.82 out the door the machine wouldn't have very noticeable marks of both fenders of in which photos were sent via email regarding these flaws to be examined by them. I contacted Weingartz to talk to my salesman he was unavailable talked to a gentleman who answered the phone, and said he would get the message to him..well he never got back, called again in which another message was left..still no reply. Had to call the Sales Manager and he said he would get the message to him...still no reply. Talked to the Sales Manager again, and finally got a short email on the 8/23/19 from my Salesman but no personal phone call. Had to talk with the Sales Manager again and he said he would be handling things from this point. I tried again to explain that attention to detail matters to me. He acted like it was no big deal because it was the entry level Exmark, and not the Higher priced model with better features. He did however ordered another set which turned out to have the same marks. So it's now the 28th of August, and still the problem is unresolved and currently I'm left hanging with this issue, and was told there wasn't to much they could do.I went to Weingartz based on a referral on how great their Customer Service but at this point I'm really disappointed, and feel they haven't gone the extra mile for me, but I spent almost 7k with them an was expecting better service, and now I'm trying to see if Exmark can get involved read more

I arrived at the door at 6:30 pm on a recent cold night. As I stood outside the doors, I became aware the business was closed and the sign on the door confirmed a 6 pm closing time. However, a few employees were still milling about and one came and opened the door for me, and asked what he could do for me? I needed a part for my snowblower. Some quick research using the manual I had brought along proved fruitful, and I was on my way less than ten minutes later with the correct part. When a storm hit the next day, I was back in business with a working machine, thanks to my new friends at Weingartz. Thanks so much for going the extra mile! I took my snowblower in Weingartz Farmington Hills on Oct 6 for a tune up so I would be ready for the first snow fall. I was given a service repair order where the printed scheduled completion date was Nov 1 and was told I would be called when the snow blower tuneup was competed. Nov 1 came and went with no call back so I called Weingartz on Nov 8 and was told I would need a new carburetor. I authorized the repairs (price went from $44 to $150) and was told this would take a week. I asked why this took so long since I brought the blower in Oct 6 and was told they were swamped by the commercial lawn crews repairing their fall leave cleanup equipment so things were backed up. I then called on Nov 15 and was told my snowblower would be fixed in a day or two and I would be called when it was done. Again I was told the commercial lawn crews were backing things up. Called again on Nov 19 since I received no call as promised and after a long delay was told that they would work on the snowblower today and I would be called. When I was told that I was looking at a Service Repair Order that said that the Scheduled Completion date was Nov 1 the service agent argued with me that this could not be the case. I then asked why would they print the Service Order off and hand it to me with the scheduled date if this wasn't true. I also told him I put all my notes on the order from my previous calls. Again a series of excuses with veiled comments that I was embellishing things. My overall impression of this business is that the service desk reps are rude and make excuses with no apologies and challenge your statements even though you have documentation backing up what you are saying. I believe the company values their commercial customers over individual customers and their service rep's condescending comments just further my belief. As I am also in the technology service business as well, I would send all these service people through a customer service extended training class or fire them. I would not want them representing my business. So now here it is with 2-3 inches of snow on the ground, a snow blower still not repaired since when I brought it in (45 days and counting) and have to go out and shovel my long driveway. If you are an individual in the market for snow equipment, lawn equipment, or repairs, I would stay away from this company. The aggravation is just not worth it. read more

This is the second time I went in there to inform myself about their products with the same result. After waiting around for a significant amount of time(15min+) during my lunch break, I finally went up to a salesman standing around to ask a question regarding PTO driven snow blowers. After confirming if they even offer them (!!!) he gave me a price and I got the feeling he wanted to get rid of me. I asked a follow-up question regarding a tractor that had a similar product installed in the show room and the "sales man" responded, that they do not have time for technical questions, since they currently have too many customers buying walk behind blowers. At this point I thanked him for nothing and left the store. Regarding the products I am looking for: 2 years ago I was in the market for a zero turn(ending up buying a new JD z915 some place else, due to pretty much the same treatment), this time I am in it for for a PTO snow blower and potentially a sub compact tractor. Place won't go broke because of my business, but if they are that bad during the sales process I don't want to deal with them during service issues. I will take my business somewhere else. read more

I work for a multimillion dollar company. We needed a simple repair and asked to contact me if the repair would be over $200. after they failed to contact me before promised repair date, I called there and they had already ordered the parts for repair which came to $500. I denied the repair and tried to get a breakdown on what was involved. I was unable to get an honest answer. The piece of equipment was dropped off fully assembled and returned to us with parts in a bag. I feel customer service is at a minimum. I feel the repairs can be done more reasonable somewhere else. GO ELSEWHERE THAN WEINGARTZ: $6k machine delivered last week. Barely any gas, engine oil just above the add line, hydrostatic drive oil below the minimum cold fill line, all tire pressures way off. Called and talked to one of the Weingartz and he said sorry. I suggested that the proper reponse would be to cover the first oil change or something since I already filled/fueled/etc. He said he would have liked to fix it but isn't giving away anything for free. The only thing he is giving away is his reputation. Go to the small independents - they deal on price and understand service. Did I mention that Weingartz delivery window exceeds that of the cable companies - they gave me a 5 hour window!!! read more

Took my brand new Honda 2200 generator in for a fuel valve recall over a week ago, called today to check the status and was told they weren't able to do the recall repair because it needed a tune up and it wouldn't start because it had old gas in it. I told the gentleman on the phone that it was brand new, had new gas and had been started the day I took it in, he was going to have someone call me. I decided to just go pick it up as I had lost confidence in them. When I got there it took them approx. 20 minutes to even find it, then I was told it was on the bench the recall was done and they were trying to find out why it wouldn't start but they were going to " take care of it for me". I was called to say it was ready, when I picked it up was soaking wet and grease spots all over it. I complained to the counter man on the condition, he told me he just power washed it and would do it again if I wished. I told him I wondered why a generator new out of the box should have to be power washed in the first place and thank you but I have had enough of this place. Wont be going there for repairs anytime soon. Sorry for the rant. read more

They picked up our snow blowers on October 23rd, today is December 3rd and I STILL don't have them back!! This place is a joke! Overpriced, and terrible customer service. The service manager will lie to you when you when you confront him about their service and the length of time it takes to get the work done and the rest of his team is just as bad. Avoid this place at all costs! Needless to say, we will not be using them in the future, and I don't know how they have managed to stay in business this long. read more

I took my snowblower in for repair at the Farmington Hills location with a "$100 tune-up" coupon/voucher in November 2015. They said it would be $100 plus parts and should take about 3-4 weeks. Nearing Christmas, I finally called them and they told me the repair would cost $338, nearly the cost of my snowblower. After telling them I would pick up the blower with no repair a manager called back and we agreed to about $175. Trying to start my bower up this winter of 2016 and not having any luck. I would never take any small engine there for repair. Biggest rip offs around, and not a good recipe for staying in business. read more

The worst customer service of any business I have ever walked into. If it's not the overbearing competing salesmen, it's the lack of any customer service in the service department. Refuses to cover anything under warranty or call before any repairs are made. Basically they screw you into paying for the repair. The customer service manager lacks any skills in customer service. He's rude, cuts you off, speaks over you, and best of all passes blame onto the customer. The service department manager has lack of any communication skills and it's apparent in his employees. They continuously belittle the customer and are unwilling to work with you.
