We didn't want to spend $5,000+ on a whole house generator. When I called they actually listened to me and didn't pressure me into getting a whole house generator. Instead, I had them install an interlock kit with a portable generator for my 960 sf. house. We've had to use it twice now since the ice storm and the portable generator with interlock kit has powered virtually our whole house! No issues! My fridge works, all bedroom lights work, 2 bathroom lights work, sump pump works all because of the interlock kit. We are very happy we did this and can't them Ashcott Electrical enough for installing it.

It's worth noting that I previously had a Lowes contractor give me a price for a generator install. Not only did the local Lowes contractor tell some fibs about what was required because of the Michigan Building Code (which I rebutted because I know the code and I offered a copy for him to show me the section right on the spot ) I was offered a lesser quality Generac generator (even after I told him I wanted Kohler) and a small limited circuit manual transfer switch. Nevertheless I sent him on his way and called Shawn. I have never looked back. Not only was Shawn's price reasonable he was lower than the other contractor and I got what I wanted to which was a Koehler generator and whole house automatic transfer switch so I didn't have to pick and choose what I wanted on the panel I am a contractor so I know the system.
