My husband and I have used this office for a couple of years now, we recommend them. The doctors are knowledgeable and friendly, staff helpful and responsive. Office is clean and well organized. Twice I needed an eye exam for an acute issue and they were able to fit me in. When there was an issue with the lenses in my new sunglasses, they worked with me to get them fixed. (The lab made the mistake, not their fault.) There haven't been any other issues with the other glasses my husband and I have purchased. read more

I really don't understand all the negative reviews. This is my second year getting my eyes examined here and everyone here has been nothing but nice. The eye Doctors are very thorough. I have been very satisfied with my all of my examinations. They have a very wide selection of stylish frames. Depending on what you're looking for. I will continue to have my yearly exams here. I just wish they were open on Saturdays. I'm sure the employees can appreciate being off on the weekends. That's a Sweet deal for them being an optical shop and all. While sitting in the waiting room, I took look at Yelp for reviews of this practice. Seeing the negative reviews, I thought, "Oh, oh, I should have read the reviews before making the appointment." But, not seeing anything negative about the doctors, I went through with the appointment. I am so glad I did. Yes, the wait for the optometrist to see me was long, about 40 minutes. But in my experience, that's not unusual in medical practices and I allow plenty of time for appointments. If quick in/out eye exams & glass fittings are important, this practice might not be for you. But the speed is not as important to me as is the quality of the exam and fittings. Dr. Lam was attentive and answered my questions about eye health matters as she did the eye exam. She did all the tests that I am supposed to get. Her manners were friendly. The lady who did the eyeglass frame fitting was quite helpful. She was also quite patient as I took selfies of myself with the different frames and texted them to my wife for feedback. The eyeglass fitter also clearly explained the prices of various eyeglass options and showed me what was covered by my insurance. Never felt rushed. A week later, the glasses arrived. They fit well and I am seeing better now. So, I am quite happy with Weinstein Eye Associates in Odenton. read more

I guess I should have come to yelp before making an appointment with this office!! Normally if I at least like the doctor then I'll stick with a business but the ladies in this office have seriously been a thorn in my side and now I have to jump through hoops! The only reason this place gets two stars and not negative (I wish I could sometimes) is because the Dr was really nice and personable. Too bad she doesn't have better people working in the office. I initially went in for my annual exam and to get fitted for contacts.. I've never had contacts before so I had to go through the entire thing, the class.. Fitting.. Etc.. Well apparently they weren't prepared at the time of my CONTACT appointment to fit me.. So I politely asked if it could be rescheduled during either their late hours or on the weekend when they were open.. I was flat out told no then with a little pushing said she would ask her manager and call me.. Two weeks pass, no call.. So I call them and someone else says she has to ask the manager. So I asked to speak to a manager and was given one time (around two weeks later) that I can either come then or don't come.. Well after the way I was treated I would rather just not come! I then asked for my eye exam so that I could go else where for everything else needed and you would think I was asking for national secrets! First I was told I couldn't have it because I didn't pay for it (well then what was the money I gave you in the office!?!) then when that was cleared up I was sent through numerous other hoops to have MY medical records released to ME! After all of this I'm not even sure if I can use these typed written pages on no type of letter head with no signature to another dr! I'm just hoping I can and that I'm done with these people! read more

The doctor was amazing, but the ladies in this office are fake an phony. Glasses were $259.00, on line $109.00. I think they overcharge big time. They are so reluctant to give you "your own prescription that the doctor prescribed to you, they want you to buy there very high price glasses. Those ladies can't be trusted. PERIOD!! read more

I've been a client of this practice for 3 years. I've always been very happy with Dr. Hetal Rena, but never thrilled with the customer service. On my first visit, I noticed that they severly upcharge the price of frames lenses (checking every "highest" option possible so that you pay the most out of pocket). Even with my insurance, I ended up spending $300 (It was my first pair of glasses, and my last time ordering from them as I was unaware of how badly they were ripping me off). Since then, I've just gone for annual eye exams, without purchasing new perscription frames. Instead, I ordered from Warby Parker to save money (can't beat $90 for lenses and frames), or bought the same brands at a different vendor to avoid listening to Weinstein's ridiculous reasoning for upselling the coatings on the lenses, materials of the lenses/frames, etc. After being billed incorrectly the last visit - they failed to recognize the discrepancy initially, but even when brought to their attention they took weeks to post the refund as a "credit" to my account, which I could never use again (per regulations, as I was told) - I ultimately decided not to return. It seems like they just make up the rules as they go to get the most money out of you. On top of that, when I went in to resolve the issue, the women behind the counter were openly ranting about a client that just left the building. How unprofessional! I took my services to another practice and will never regret the decision. Save your money, and go elsewhere! read more

There are a lot of issues here. Every time I go here, I don't get seen until 20 min after my appointment time. The receptionists are not friendly. I never got a call back from the office either time they were supposed to call me back. I would not recommend this business to anyone and will not be going back again. They didn't have my contacts in stock and in order to write you a prescription for contacts they have to see them on you, so I had to make two appointments just to get a prescription. My contacts were $10 a box more here than on 1-800 contacts. I think they're open late on occasion though so that's a plus...if you have 20 min after your appointment time to wait. read more

This place has very rude customer service. I get there 25 min prior to close and she gonna tell me I got 5 minutes to get the contact lens in, mind you I waited 20-25 minutes for someone to help me. I politely told her you can give me back my money. No one tells me I have 5 minutes to do nothing when I'm paying them. Wouldn't recommend to a soul, especially since they have 19th century hours of operation. Probably should have read these reviews first but I've been going there for a while. The doctor is super nice and personable. However, the front desk staff are horrible. I handed the young lady my insurance card and her response was that it wasn't valid. No other questions,I just walked out. Later found out(after I was back at work) that my insurance was valid, she was checking the wrong system. No accountability whatsoever. I asked her how we could resolve this-- she says they expect the patients to know what kind of vision plan they hold. BUT SHE NEVER ASKED ME WHAT VISION PLAN I HAD. After a deep breath.... I got off the phone in the nicest way that I could. Even after confirming my insurance was valid and they accepted it...she didn't even offer to make another appointment. From the time with the doctor to spending time with the ladies up front I had a great experience. I showed up 30 mins early so that I could fill out paperwork because it was my first time. I was called in by the doctor 10/15 mins after my apt time. I walked in and she was so welcoming very nice and answered my 100 questions. While I waited for my eyes to settle after being dialated I went to the front to pick out glasses. Michelle helped me choose the best fit for me. Jen the receptionist even came over to give advice. Everyone was so nice and I would recommend this place to anyone. The only problem I had was that the glasses I wanted were to much for me to spend. read more

I spent $434 on a pair of specialized frames, the ones that turn to sunglasses, while outside. I got the frames two weeks later, guess what? They put the wrong lenses in. Then they try to correct the problem. Three weeks later, I get the lens back, but not cut properly as to fit in my frames. I ask for a discount or something for the inconvenience of waiting almost a month and paying almost $500. I am offered 50% off a pair of sunglasses or a new pair of glasses. I do not need sunglasses, and I just bought a new pair of glasses. Talk about cheap! Their website screens the negative reviews as well, so as to posts just the positive reviews. read more

I've been a patient at Weinstein for 4 years now, and I have no plans to leave. I have never had to wait beyond my appointment time, and the two doctors I've seen have been professional, helpful, and very nice. They never make me feel rushed during appointments, and they answer all of my questions patiently and completely. I have been to a few other optometrists in the area, and Weinstein far exceeds all of them. A few minor opportunities for improvement: 1) If the receptionists cannot help you at the moment and ask to call you back, they never will. This has happened a few times, and I've had to call back every single time. No explanation and no apology. The receptionists are nice enough, at least. 2) They don't take Humana health insurance, so my husband has to go elsewhere. 3) Just a simple glasses lens replacement (on an existing pair of glasses) can take up to 14 business days. So unless you have a second, acceptable pair of glasses, take your prescription and go to the mall or Walmart where they can be replaced in an hour. read more

I like the doctors at this location, but I agree with everyone else about the ladies in the office...they are ALL HORRIBLE AND NASTY attitudes. A few weeks I walked in and the lady was on the phone talking to her child about returning to class she looked at me and continued to talk on the phone.....I used to work in customer service and I always put my customers first, you can tell the call was not of an urgent manner. I had to wait for the other lady to come from across the store to assist me. And yes, they are so OVERPRICED. My husband and I are already looking for new eye doctors, I cannot afford this practice any longer. read more

The reviews on here are pretty old. I have been a patient and customer here for several years. My son, husband, and daughter all also use this practice. We all love Dr Lam. She is very thorough and explains every thing clearly. My son has typically had a very difficult time at the eye doctor and, while he still doesn't like to go, he is willing to come here for exams. I have opted once to take my prescription elsewhere to get glasses because my son wanted the same set of frames he had before and they did't have something he liked. They were perfectly fine with giving us what we needed to purchase glasses elsewhere. While the receptionists don't always call back if they aren't able to help you when you call, they do have late hours which is helpful for our family. They also helped me navigate a nightmare with my insurance company when I needed a drastically different prescription 3 months before I was "allowed" to get a new set of lenses covered. I'm happy with the quality of my glasses that I have purchased from them. I have and would continue to recommend them to others. read more

Not a fan. I wear progressive bifocals and had my eye exam done elsewhere. I came here because they are in network with my VSP plan. Even with insurance I was looking to spend $400+ for one pair of eyeglasses. I think they're over priced and really try to get you to pay for the max that your plan allows (I don't need $65 Crizal coating if the coating covered by my insurance works just as well). With the same insurance, I paid $75 at Costco (out of network!) and they replaced one lens for free after a year because I scratched the lens. I was already working with one employee while another employee came out from the back and began to pull out glasses for me to try. She just took over! As I was looking through each case, both women were calling me over to look at other cases, which was annoying because I felt rushed and couldn't try on glasses I liked. I also asked them which frames were covered under my policy and they didn't show me the brands. read more

Poor quality control/review on prescriptions rendered through VSP insurance. Had to return a total of four times due to (1) glass frame broken (2) large smudge on right Crizal lense (3) Scratches on right and left lense (4) scratches on right and left lenses. Money refunded; however, the entire process solidified that the attendants to include supervisor Donna are not attentive to quality control and customer satisfaction before calling customer to inform that "glasses are ready for pick up" read more

While the optometrist there are very knowledgeable and friendly. Their customer service is awful. Since I would think that this is a privately owned business, the optometrists seem to not mind that their front desk staff overcharges, are not welcoming or friendly, make up reasons for high costs on each separate visit I have been. I have had the same rx for the past several years. I have gone to them to have lenses put in my won frames 3 different times and 3 different times they tried to charge me different prices. the last couple of times I had to argue my point and make them look at my history for them to lower the price. I tried to stay, but the last time I went (5/14) again I just needed lenses for a frame that was lost (I brought the original complete lenses and frame from them)(this time, again, I had my own frame). They tried to charge me the same exact price for the complete lenses and frames I had lost. I asked why and they tried to say the rx was very high. This did not make any sense and said so and the woman just shrugged her shoulders. I asked for the rx and left. My money can be better spent elsewhere. read more
