I checked in at this location yesterday and went back for a few items today. My first job ever was at the store front of a well known pharmacy (over 30 years ago). I remember trying to multitask between the register and stocking shelves. Definitely lots of work and patience. Huge props to store manager Adam. Good people need to get recognition.

The cashier gave no greeting, no smile, no "thank you," no "have a nice day" ... nothing. He simply handed me the bag without saying a word. Wth? That kind of cold, indifferent service really stands out in a customer-facing position. A clean, well-run store loses a lot of goodwill when the final interaction feels that dismissive. Management should seriously look at cashier training and basic customer-service standards. A simple greeting and thank-you cost nothing, but they make a big difference.

We chose to pay 69 dollars for this televisit through Jefferson Health because I was very sick and needed medication right away. We also chose to go this route because on the website we saw that store #5715 was open 24 hours, including the pharmacy. My husband headed to the store only to discover upon arrival, a sign saying they were closed, pharmacy only open from 8am - 10pm and the store only open until midnight. And this went into effect starting on December 22nd! This store is a 26 minute drive (8.5 miles) away from my home. So you can imagine the major inconvenience. This brings me to my major point: NOWHERE ON THE WEBSITE OR THE STORE PHONE ANSWERING SERVICE DID IT SAY THE DIFFERENCE IN HOURS! We chose to do what we did for my health based on the fact that I could get the antibiotic from this "open pharmacy" that same night. If I knew they were closed, I would have waited to go to an Express Care and paid 49 dollars less to see a doctor in person. Plus we wasted time and gas in our car driving all the way to the store just to find out it was closed. It cost me time and money.

Mostly because staff has historically been indifferent at best, downright rude at worst. Recently, however, on two separate occasions, I've found staff members--including at least one manager--to be warm, friendly, and helpful. On the first occasion, discounts from my Walgreens' rewards weren't reflecting on my bill. This is not unusual, as it seems to happen frequently at all businesses that use rewards. Oftentimes, employees get frustrated and flustered (as do the people in the growing lines behind me) and employees get mad at me, as if it's my fault. The manager was called over and calmly remedied the issue, including calling a second cashier to handle other customers. On the second occasion, I must admit I was in a bad mood, so when the sale item I wanted wasn't on the shelf (even though the online system said it should have been), I was annoyed. The young man stocking shelves was, unfortunately for him, the first employee I encountered. In my scariest mom voice, I asked why the items that were supposed to be there were not. He used his handheld gizmo and said there should be more in the back and went to check. I wanted two, he came back with one, and apologized for the computer system being wrong. I immediately felt guilty because, of course, it wasn't his fault and this intelligent young man killed me with kindness. I thanked him, he told me to have a nice day, and I apologized for being crabby. He accepted my apology with grace. A new Walgreens, indeed.

After calling around to 29 places yesterday, the 30th place that I called was The Medicine Shoppe in Boyertown. Ed picked up the phone and he was beyond any level of pure kindness that I can't even think of any words to say. He took a few minutes out of his day to talk to me versus a majority of other places I spoke to who wanted to get me off the phone as quick as possible. Ed is truly pushing and advocating for the Group 1A also known as - the high risk, and elderly. He was so genuine and compassionate that I felt the passion for what he does, did, and will continue to do during our entire few minutes, spent on the phone together. After calling around everywhere yesterday and then hanging up the phone after speaking to Ed. Him and his staff are true superheroes trying to help out their elderly patients. From a granddaughter who is trying to help her grandfather get his vaccine... Thank you Ed and your entire team for what you are doing day in and day out.

We are currently waiting on a prescription that they were supposed to get clarity from the doctor but didn't. When the doctor called to clarify-- because they wouldn't call-- they wouldn't answer the phone. The doctor called multiple times without them answering. But, of course, it's everyone else's fault. Never theirs. We're currently waiting 32 minutes for a simple prescription; but, yeah, nothing is ever than simple when you have noncommunicative, combatative employees. Maybe Rite Aid has better customer service? I honestly don't know why we still go here.

This is how pharmacies should be, small town, personal service with kindness and compassion. You are NOT a number here. This little shop is more then a pharmacy also, there is an array of everything here from typically pharmacy stuff to local candies, American made gifts and even a jewelry counter, its the most adorable little shop! Always a home town feel, this is family owned and it shows. The owner is always there working side by side and although I've never dealt with him, its apparent he cares about his business. Joel has been such an incredible help over the years, in fact i followed him here from his previous pharmacy, he's that amazing. if there's an issue, he will let me know and help me sort it. He's always incredibly kind, super knowledgeable and always professional, I'm so grateful for all you've done to help me. Excited that there's a bakery and a seafood section. My three-year-old LOVES the miniature shopping cart. They've got a nice salad bar too and a Redbox for when you want to rent something. I also like the incentive program where you can get 10 cents off your gas per gallon if you purchase $50 or more worth of groceries. That adds up. All around, a solid store.
