Unreliable concept given Melbourne and its unpredictable weather
    Sam K.

I had been really looking forward to going to this place. I've got to say I was disappointed. Apart from Melbourne weather letting us down it was just so. ...ordinary. Crazily overpriced food truck food. Small portions. Greasy. Not well put together. Really really long wait. All for the privilege of huddling in the cold on seating in the entranceway because the inside seating was full. I personally feel the hipster phenomenon is fine but when you simply end up with less. ...everything. ... for higher cost, you've been had by the cool kids.

How awesome is it to have a place in Melbourne where you can sit in a bar having a drink with an array of food trucks right outside! This place has it all - outside seating, inside seating, tram line and a mix of foods at great prices! I recommend everyone try this place out... get in early to secure a spot, especially in summer when it gets packed!

Great spot to hang out with friends without deciding what everyone is going to eat as there are a number of food trucks to cater for everyone's taste. Food trucks can be a bit hit and miss, especially mid week but with the warmer weather approaching sitting outside with a few drinks and a selection of different cuisines at your finger tips. As a permanent fixture now in Thornbury I feel it is losing its appeal a bit as it was pretty quiet and the spread want as varied as I would have liked. I've always enjoyed coming here during the summer, and maybe it will perk up again this year during the warmer months.

I hadn't heard of this place until yesterday but on the way to a gig we stopped here. I was struck by how clever it is. The permanent pub attached to rotating food trucks to keep repetitiveness at bay. The beer selection was underwhelming (no craft beers) but some decent stuff in bottles. I liked the semi-covered area and that I could sit in a proper non-smoking area and eat. Add to that there was plenty of heating for the Melbourne winter. The food was lovely. Fancy Hank's satisfied us is with wonderful burgers and I really liked that they had buzzers so you could go and sit down with your mates.

I'd had this bookmarked for a while and made the journey over last Friday night with a friend that was visiting. We were really excited upon seeing the trucks and Vegas style sign out the front. It was a balmy Friday evening and this had brought the crowds, being my first visit I'm unsure whether this is typical but all the trucks we looked at had extremely long lines with a min. 45minute wait for food once you'd gotten to the front of the queue. Not complaining as this is what one could expect however it was great when the girls at the pizza truck informed us of the wait, the guys at dude food truck appeared to be getting slammed and after a 45minute wait for 6 Mac and cheese bites I'd well and truly witnessed the crowds getting ancy. I think they needed to stop orders for a while and catch up on themselves. If you aren't prepared to line up and wait for food I would say don't even bother going, but if you are happy to take the buzzer (an awesome system) then you can take yourself off to the bar for a cooling ale and find a seat. A good mix of food trucks the night we went and would head back for sure.

Mr burger, nice flavoured burgers for $12 chips for 3.50 , maccas is better value!

Besides, incorporating bets and shots into these games is one way to encourage even the most unenthusiastic friend into an extreme word finding Boggle-off. The vibe in here is the reason I keep coming back and the comfy chairs, great service and good company do nothing to change my mind. Awesome place.

The décor is faithfully early seventies, the wine list refreshingly organic, and the cocktails pretty damn good. But what really makes this place special is the veritable smorgasbord of board games on offer. Not only is gaming of the board variety accepted at Kelvins, it's positively encouraged. And with Kelvin's offering games numbering Yahtzee, Monopoly, Guess Who and more, you can easily while away the hours over a bottle of organic wine and a tryst with a board game in this unassuming and under-celebrated but really quite awesome Westgarth haunt.

It should go without saying this is a SENSATIONAL craft beer venue but I thought I'd mention it to make a point. Whenever in the venue you chose to drink you have an option of drinking from all bars. The selection of craft beers are sensational! This selection is not the case for the food sadly. There is the lovely restaurant at the back, the original pub part and the (no longer new) craft bar where the drive in bottle-o used to be. To me, as a customer, the oddest concept of this is the snobbery between the craft kitchen and the original kitchen. You can't order from both and eat in one area - they demand you order from the one you are in only. I get it from a kitchen point of view but for me the biggest issue with that is that the pub part doesn't have fish and chips because that's a fav of my husband whilst I adore the pub part steak. I would give them 5/5 if I could order food from either kitchen - just as I can with the beer.

Bit romantic but not over the top - the sort of place girls love (because I'm an expert...) and would be an ideal spot to bring a date but not your footy mates. It's not cheap, the cheapest bottle of beer is $6.5 but they're all good quality, organic, boutique beers, many of which are local so they're great for a change from the regulars. Try the Leffe, it's a light-coloured and strong Belgian beer, absolutely sensational. For the tight-arses there's a few good selections of cheaper wine available by the glass and bottle. The Margaret River SBS is a winner. Great place, comfy chairs, affordable, brilliant atmosphere that makes you feel a lot drunker than you are (hence a cheaper night).
