The word…read more"shelter" really does not do it justice - rather, it is truly a center based on animal needs. It is a huge facility with a lot of resources, and most employees and volunteers are knowledgeable and genuinely happy to help because of their love for animals. I've worked mostly with the cats at St. Huberts, and while I haven't adopted, I have fostered a handful of times. (A great way to get involved, especially if you're not sure that you want to commit to a pet.) There is a huge support system for fosters like me, and they will even provide you with materials to get you started such as food and litter. If you're interested in animals, it's worth it come out and support this shelter. They're happy to take volunteers if you can't adopt!

When I asked the pet store owner where the cats were, he explained that a few people had posted very negative comments about the store and its owners, citing mistreatment of the cats. What?? If anything, the owners of the shop, as well as the rescue shelter that sponsored the cats and handled the adoption process, deserve our gratitude. The shop owners had been graciously donating space to host the cats to help them get adopted. The agency sponsoring the cats sent someone to the store every day to tend to them. I've always been impressed with the level of cleanliness of the crates (and also of the store in general). Such a strange and sad story about a local pet shop trying to do good and becoming the target of some online bullies.

St Huberts to the rescue (pun intended). We had a one on one class with a master trainer and in 2 hours, were reacquainted with the basics and showed the current thinking on gentle but effective Puppy training. More important, our trainer taught us what we needed to do (consistency being key) and confirmed that our little guy was a normal, energetic male with puppy energy and joyful enthusiasm. I picked up a few Weruva gravies and wet treats for my cat. I found out that the grooming services are mainly for dogs, but that CB Pet Market does do nail clippings for other animals like cats, hamsters, etc. for $20. The shop does have good prices for some products that are less than Chewy, and some harder to find products not at Petco or stores like that.
