Should we move to Roanoke? Food's certainly good - check that box. We came here for lunch after wandering downtown a bit. Downtown Roanoke is pretty nice, with some fun stores, and not many empty spaces to squelch the mood. And a bunch of pretty good places to eat. Wife got a bottle of wine, Just Peachy. She loved it, but I thought it was WAY too, er, pardon but don't pardon the sexism implicit here, too girly. Sweet and perfumey. C'est la difference, to mix French aphorisms poorly. Her pork potato skins were good, as was my grilled cheese. So the food was good. But that isn't enough, and isn't why we enjoyed this place as much as we did. Yes, the sense of humor implicit in the store's name is fun, and part of what drew us; a friend giggled conspiratorially as she recommended the place, which is the tone of voice you need when you discuss it, isn't it? Just a little of your inner 7th grader squeaks out when you say the words, right? Say it now: "Well Hung Vineyard." You know what they mean. C'mon, you do, TOO. And they embrace the giggle. A bit of the fish was over cooked, but the rest of the sandwich was quite delicious. One of our party had the Southwest Chicken Salad. She said it was quite bland and the "southwest" flavor must have been in the black beans, corn, and sprinkling of fried tortilla chips. The avocado seemed past its due date and quite mushy. Another in our party had the Ciabatta Steak Sandwich which she said was very good! There are a variety of wine and wine products like smoothies and mimosas. You can do a flight or a glass. Great food and open seating. Seating is spacious, but the uncushioned, aluminum chairs are hard to sit in and slippery. I wonder if they are doing it on purpose so people don't stay long and they then have a higher table churn rate? Chicken rice soup is awesome. Perfectly savory and rice, not mushy, cooked just right. Lots of great vegetables and taste. The Cajun shrimp Cobb salad is awesome. Shrimp is perfectly seasoned and tasty, not mushy. The pickled onions make the salad even better. Ginger glazed Mahi Mahi is beautifully presented, cooked perfectly, and served with long grain rice, seared asparagus, and pickled onion. Nice sized portion of fish. Besides the chair, the other big negative is the live "entertainment," one mediocre (at best) singer/instrumentalist makes it nearly impossible to have conversations with people sitting just two or three feet away. Recommendation to the owner/manager - ditch the live entertainment, use SiriusXM or Musak background music inside so people can enjoy the food and drink. I very much recommend this place. read more

We came here after a morning hiking Natural Bridge and we were starved! They have excellent staff working here and an amazing menu, which is very unique! Their hummus was outstanding! I would come back for the alcohol but not the food. I got the frozen passion fruit wine slushy which was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately everything else seem to just missed the mark. The food portions are on small plates and they are pretty expensive for what you get. I didn't leave here full or satisfied so I would not recommend treating this as a place to mainly get food with drinks on the side. I think this type of establishment is probably best for drinking, talking, and nibbling on food. The inside was cute, nicely decorated, and clean. Our server was also kind and attentive. We live an hour away, so we made a reservation for Father's Day late lunch, as they seemed to have a great brunch selection to appease everyone in our party of five. We arrived and the restaurant was clean, not crowded, and we were greeted immediately upon entering. My wife ordered one of the two options for their wine slushies of the month, Strawberry Pina Colada. She was told they did not have it (though the server confirmed there was Strawberry Pina Colada wine slushy in a pitcher we observed in the nearby wine fridge). Our child wanted pancakes, and we were apprised they ran out of pancakes (which eliminated more than one menu item), along with Steak and Eggs, which eliminated even more items our party wanted to order. They also only have soda in bottles, so no complimentary refills. When I first saw the name of this winery, I wasn't sure I could bring myself to check it out. From the logo to the names of the wine, they had me blushing. We decided to give it a go since we were in the area and we were quoted a 35 minute wait. The restaurant was large and the tables were all socially distanced due to COVID, but people seemed to stay a while after sitting down because it took nearly an hour for our name to come up on the waitlist. We only stayed for a flight because we were trying to get to dinner someplace else, but the service was good and the wine wasn't bad either. We were a little bummed at how small the flight portions were for the price, but we may be back someday to try out a full glass and the food. The Well Hung Vineyard is a welcome newish restaurant in downtown Roanoke. Our Mango Pineapple Shrimp and Hawaiian Flatbread were two of the best dishes that we've had in a long time. Andy and the other staff were knowledgeable and we loved the decor. The Viognier Reserve and Pillow Talk wines weren't quite as good as the food, but we'll try different ones on our next visit. My charcuterie plate came out looking amazing, but when our server brought it to the table she informed me that they had no french bread. ?? I asked if they could give me some other type of bread, even perhaps a flat bread from the pizzas they sell and was informed the best they could do was some chips. Really?! Lucky for me, Mast General Store is right across the street so my husband ran over to buy some crackers. I don't understand why I wasn't informed when I ordered that there was no french bread, instead of being told when the food was delivered. My wife and I went here to try the place late on a Sunday afternoon we did wine sampling of whites and reds most of their wines are sweet that is not bad but just putting it out there we got the cheese and meat board which is very good and we got dinner mango chicken for my wife and fire roasted salmon for me it was very good the portions were great and I thought the prices were very reasonable considering the downtown area most places are more expensive for food the Service was great the only thing that we noticed is it is kind of noisy in there because everything is hardwood floors there were lots of tables of either birthdays or weddings going on so the atmosphere was extremely noisy which is not their fault the only reason I mention it is most wineries would be very quiet . Ehhh this place was alright. It's located downtown so parking can be a pain but luckily we found a close free parking spot. It's really nice inside and they have plenty of tables. We decided to sit at the bar and try some of their wine flights. I saw that they also had a brunch menu so we ordered the waffle bites. We ordered the Date Night flight and the Crimson Crush flight. The wines were ok but nothing amazing. The waffle bites took forever to come out so I just asked for them to go. They weren't even hot when I got them, so someone definitely dropped the ball. Ended up trying them as soon as I got in the car and they were actually pretty gross. I gave them to my husband but he didn't like them either. Overall, this place was ok.
