I had head shots scheduled at my house. The photographer who came was very nice but seemed to be new at his job (and perhaps at photography)--various things went wrong, including lighting, and he had to return to the office to get the correct equipment. Then a not very nice person named Hilary got involved (online), telling me I'd have to pay for all the extra time it took him to get the right equipment and reshoot with the proper lighting. Of course I objected, the situation went downhill, and--full disclosure--she ended up saying the whole shoot would be complimentary due to the mess. I appreciated the offer, but declined because, for better or for worse, he had tried hard and worked long and I didn't want him to be penalized since it was her unpleasantness that had turned things so sour, not simply his lack of competence.
