My drug was denied coverage. My Doctor contacted Well Care to speak with the medical director, on 5/20/13. They were told they were not available to speak to her . They said they'd return the call within 48 hours; that has not happened. I am not a candidate for the drug that you suggested,. Who is in control of the prescription, the Dr or the Drug plan ? Doctors do not have time to waste on the phone. I spent time on the phone and finally got it approved. This is not how a prescription plan should work. read more

I do not have the health plan I have the Prescription Plan and I guess that gets no attention from Wellcare They are ONLY interested in their Health plans because every single time I try to access the drug plan it redirects me to health plans, and nothing work, Using a different browser doesn't work.....clearing my cache doesn't work, using the QR Scanner didn't even work, yes, I get to a Prescription page and is says, well Prescription Drug member but when I sign in in it takes me right over to the Health plans and askes me to choose my plan which I do not have. I tried to get onto their web site to pay my premium online, only to end up on a blank page. This was in four different browsers so I don't think the problem is on my end, I did everything I could to make it work. Then I took my time to fill out their online contact form to tell them about this and got the result, "There was an error, try again." Of course, trying again gave me the same trash error message. Fortunately, I can get the medications I need from Sam's Club's pharmacy without insurance. My doctor prescribed cyclobenzaprine for a "gardening" backache and it took 2 days to clear all the hurdles BY PAYING CASH OUT OF POCKET because they did not review their own paperwork for 2 days, while I alternate ice and heat and wait in pain. My experience is so crazy that I liken it to something right out of the "Twilight Zone". Out of the blue Wellcare sent me a threatening letter stating that I owed a $5.60 payment that was past due for my RX plan through Medicare. I had no idea that I even was responsible for making any RX premiums to Wellcare because I was never notified through the mail, called or sent an email regarding my monthly premiums of $5.60/month I would be responsible for. All I knew is that I was approved for extra help through the Medicare program and was not aware of any of this. I then receive the above mentioned threatening letter from Wellcare stating that if the $5.60 amount was not paid by the 31st of March, 2026 that I would be disenrolled from the program unless the amount was paid. Well I know that Wellcare needs their money but $5.60 is not a kings ransome and to threaten a Medicare patron of disenrollment has dire consequences. In the letter it states to call a 1 800 number and speak to them and get the past due amount paid otherwise I would be disenrolled. I first got a gentleman in a overseas call center who was rude and abusive and threatening stating that the 31st of March had passed and that there was nothing he could do and I tried to explain to him over and over again what the letter stated and that was I needed to do was to call, pay the small amount and continue my RX plan he said that he needed to ask me these set of 5 questions which made absolutely no sense about why this $5.60 was not paid and a host of other questions. I was so confused and I'm not an older person so heaven forbid a 95 year old woman or grandmother had to deal with this type of situation is absolutely frightening. He proceeded to tell me I didn't answer the questions to Wellcares standards to continue my RX plan so he said there was nothing he could do and said I had been disenrolled. Frustrated I hung up and called back got another overseas gentleman who was more rude and abusive than the last one. I once again said I wanted to pay the amount and continue my coverage and he also went through this group of questions which made no sense and I just grew more and more frustrated and angry. Overseas agent said there was nothing I could do. Do these reps understand that under my Medicare plan that I qualify for extra help and they shouldn't be disenrolling me from my Rx plan because I was 2 days late in taking care of this past due amount. I finally requested a supervisor on the phone who gladly accepted my payment but then proceeded to tell me I was disenrolled from the Rx plan and told me I would have to be transferred to another department to re enroll in either the same plan or another plan. Absolutely made no sense the way this company was treating me and I know for a fact that they could have reinstated my RX plan if indeed I had been disenrolled and I truly believe they were doing everything they could to make this process as frustrating and aggravating as possible and the people involved in this or who had access to my account should be fired from their job. After about an hour I was transferred from the foreign agents to an American lady who took some information from me and I had to repeat half of what I said to her over and over because she would get the spelling of things like my email address and other important pieces of information mixed up. I can truly attest that going through this process was a complete nightmare. I tried to explain to the woman about my past due amount and that I already had a plan with Wellcare and she said well I don't know what you had because that's another computer system and we can't see any of this. I was like are you kidding me. This process took an hour or more and then she said I had to be transferred to another agent so I got another American woman on the phone who put me through what I would call a torture chamber of repetative information and questions which you never understand because they simply don't make any sense so another hour or hour and a half go by. I was just feeling so drained and exhausted that I was just about ready to give up. Finally it ended but was informed the coverage would not take effect until May 1st 2026 and I was like what in the hell am I supposed to do I have vital important life altering medications to get filled next week and of course Wellcare could care less how you get your medication in the interim. Wellcare is playing around with peoples lives and could be causing life threatening situations when people need their medications and $5.60 is not a good reason to cancel someone's plan. These people are crazy and the process I had to go through noone should have to experience. Absolutely unbelieveable. I called Medicare later that day to file a formal complaint and I hope Wellcare had to pay for what they did to me. I also will be finishing drafting a letter to Michael A. Harassing calls&letters late August 2025 & September 2025 ongoing from Wellcare telling me they received my complaint & to call them at an 866 number to discuss my concerns about a complaint I NEVER made.I have never had Wellcare as my insurance except for Wellcare Classic part D drug plan & I never made a complaint on them.I do not not want them calling me etc.They are with Centene.Centene had their SuperiorHealthPlan sign me up with them in Sept Oct Nov Dec2024 unwantedly & in November 2024 I got an out of blue letter to call their RN Cristey Gallegos who is their employee in Texas and identified herself as a comprehensive screener for LTSS & for me to call her at an 833 number & she could tell me about general type services & she would like to hear what health needs she may help me with.Dupe letter making it look really innocent & she an LTSS comprehensive screener! My opinion it SCAM & she has frauded mental info that someone FRAUDED they had gotten from me that they never did for her to ever have dare contact me in the first place & what a phony letter! I do NOT have & NEVER had anything physical OR mental for her to be contacting me.I never of course initiated this or requested this or ever said anything to anybody where she & this LTSS outfit would contact me.I never called her or LTSS or Superior HealthPlan.Then in late November & early December 2024 I got harassing phone messages & letter that (Centene's) Superior HealthPlan Outreach wanted me to call them at an 844 number to discuss my LTC benefits! How hideous! Seems this registered nurse Cristey Lynn Gallegos in Texas FRAUDED an assessment etc;! These outfits do not take any complaints or give you papertrails or files or data if you request them.Vague stuff get.Been their done on past.I had United Health Care contracted with medicaid way back in 2014 2015 & after I made one casenumbered complaint they dropped it like a hot potatoe & retaliated by sending me a new casenumber usps saying they will look into complaint I never made & I got a letter after that with same casenumber saying that they had already received that same complaint & sent me a letter about it! horrible Medicare healthcare. My majo back surgery was almost canceled because they didn't want to pay it. The denied it, then rejected and closed it. I threw a fit and they did an emergency appeaI. I called them up to check on it only to be told it was downgraded as it wasn't an emergency. Then after me throwing a fit, they approved it but didn't send the codes to the hospital or Dr. I had to call them up as it's now 2 days from surgery and the hospitals threatening to cancel it and told them if it was canceled I was going to one of the hospitals that have on call spine surgeons and they could rerun all the test again. I got my surgery but the hospital is still fighting with them. Then don't get me started on their medical transportation ModivCare. They have stood me up on 3 occasions plus wouldn't do transport to a testing facility because they didn't have a full 3 day notice. I was temporarily in rolled with wellcare BIG MISTAKE. They had all of my information to complete my application and yet they never did that. Second I have fibromyalgia and I am very light sensitive and I get migraine headaches very easily but they would not answer my question about covering Emgality even with my doctors name and phone number.And then we have Dupixent for skin issues and we have the same issues as listed above. So I called Medicare about this but it seems nothing is going to be done about this B S. This is just the same story that I got with Humana for over a year. Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from this company, they get terrible reviews even from Medicare. My Wellcare membership stated that I get unlimited physical therapy visits, yet after my knee replacement, they are now denying claims for the physical therapy I truly need. My doctor and physical therapist have requested it, but Wellcare won't listen. I was on the phone for two hours with their awful customer service team, filing an appeal. But the next day, a rep told me they have no record of the appeal, and this led to another lengthy phone call, with no resolution. The customer service is absolutely atrocious; the worst I have ever seen!! Avoid this healthcare plan at all costs!! They are a disgrace and have no respect for their members, or our time and money. Wellcare customer service is completely unresponsive. Since Dec 22, 2024 it has been impossible to access my part D drug plan on their on-line insured portal. The first contact with customer service resulted in the problem not even being forwarded to the IT department. I called again on Jan 10, 2025 and once again was told it would be escalated to the IT team. Each time you are told it will take 10 business days to respond. As of now, it is another 10 days, with no response and the problem continues. You get what you pay for. The premium is cheap. There customer service is terrible. Hope you never actually have to use them for anything or you will also be exposed to miserable and incompetent customer service. read more

I've just become a WellCare Customer. It's only because the plan I had with Aetna wasn't available for 2025. I didn't like the out of pocket plan they were offering. This is quite possibly the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Maybe it works if you don't have a problem, but I wouldn't know about that. What I do know is that the system is severely broken for those of us who do encounter problems. Without recounting the issue here, I will just say that it took several months and many, many hours of conversation to resolve the problem, just to have it happen again. There is no 'cut to the chase' option when navigating the Customer Service maze, even when you have a case #, name of the representative you spoke to last, etc. Regardless of the situation, you start at square one, (a call center with a person who does not speak English) who then transfers you to another person who doesn't speak English, to possibly a third or fourth before you are finally connected to someone that actually may have the ability to resolve the problem. Of course, by then, you have repeated your story multiple times and are sick of hearing your own voice. Even then, the operator (customer service rep) follows a script and has 'procedures' that must be followed - no thinking allowed. All the while, time is passing and threatening letters and phone calls are received, and my blood pressure goes through the roof at the possibility of having the insurance canceled that I have fully paid for a year in advance. What this company puts elderly citizens through is borderline abuse and they should be ashamed. If I could give them less than one star, I most certainly would. read more

Do you suppose Burdick needs the money. maybe pocketing it at the expense of his members. Very sad. Providers in my area have refused to provide acupuncture for this reason leaving patients in pain. I have talked to everyone at Wellcare and the reps are nice, but no one knows anything and nobody gets paid, and I guess I won't either.
