My friend and I were so excited to try this place because of the high reviews and limited places…read moreto select from in the area. We did the sauna and facials. Well needless to say, we will be on the hunt for a better spot- FOR SURE. Here's what our feedback was to the establishment since they asked, and I decided to share here in case it's helpful to anyone thinking about going here: "The overall experience was disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a professional wellness or spa environment. The walk between buildings felt awkward and disjointed, and the areas where services were provided were visibly unclean. This immediately detracted from the sense of calm and comfort that clients typically seek when booking spa services. The sauna instructions were overly complicated and nonintuitive. Rather than supporting a seamless, stress-free experience, the setup required unnecessary effort and attention at a time when guests should be able to arrive, decompress, and enjoy the service. One of the facials was particularly concerning. The provider fell out of her chair during the session, left the room for approximately 15 minutes within the allotted service time, and complained openly about missing supplies that had not been ordered. Her presentation and behavior appeared impaired or otherwise not fully attentive, which was alarming in a setting where professionalism, focus, and client safety are expected. There were also sanitation concerns. Gloves were not worn during the sessions- in particular extractions & close facial work, which raised hygiene and safety questions. Given the nature of skincare treatments and direct contact with facial areas, adherence to clear sanitation protocols is critical. Both facials were performed below expected standards. Product application felt careless rather than intentional for both clients. Creams were applied in a manner that resulted in product entering the nostril area for both clients. In one instance, the technician had to awkwardly clean the inside of a nostril during the service, which was unexpected and uncomfortable (and something never experienced prior). In the other facial, cream entered the nostril and remained there throughout the session, creating concern about inhalation; the client ultimately had to clean it out herself after the session. This experience was distracting and far from relaxing. Additionally, massage and sculpting techniques reflected a noticeable lack of refinement and training, particularly for clients accustomed to higher-quality services. Overall, the experience lacked attentiveness, professionalism, cleanliness, and the level of care expected in a premium setting."

Nancy was with a client, but unlike some other places I visited, she was polite and helpful with the information I was looking for. This helps me choose which place I will visit next week and in the following two weeks after that. Nancy informed me what the prices are, but this seems to becoming a trend since this is the second place I have visited where the credit card fee goes up as the time for the service goes up. Nevertheless, if you are going for 60 minutes- the cost is $70. With a Credit Card its $75. 90 Minutes costs $100.00. With a Credit Card its $110. I don't know yet if table shower or table shampoo is an option or included in the price, but I will find out soon. Nancy grave off a great vibe and even though she was busy, she was polite. I know the next two places I will be visiting. Great job Nancy with a first impression.

I found a place 3 minutes away I called then for an appointment they immediately gave me an appointment. They usually don't give appointments at the same time when a place does good work and is always busy. You know how sometimes, a business messes up, maybe even royally, and their thoughtful resolution…read moremakes you think better of them than if everything had gone right in the first place? This is not one of those stories. I went there on Mothers Day with a secret. I was six weeks pregnant, not far enough along to have told anyone, except for my doctor, whom I also asked about a trigger point massage, as I have gnarly knots in my back. She said it was fine. Per their website, they "recommend" prenatal massages after the first trimester, so they think it's fine, too. When I arrived, there was a sign on the wall that asked you inform them if you are pregnant so they can "take precautions for your safety and comfort." But THIS IS A LIE AND A TRAP. I told the receptionist, and this set off a 15-minute tizzy. I heard several hushed voices outside the curtain. Two different people came in and out of the room multiple times. Between these conversations, I was told to get dressed, undress, and get dressed again. One person who came to the room was the nice man (David) who was to work on me that day. The second one, who introduced herself as the prenatal massage therapist came in and gasped while I was lying on the table undressed, telling me to get off my stomach. She'll get me a pillow. I told her I don't need a pillow. She said she'd only work with me lying on a pillow. I asked where David was, and she said she was going to work on me instead, lying on my side. I must get a prenatal massage, and also, they cost $20 more. I said I'm not paying $20 more for less, and if I had wanted a prenatal massage, I'd've asked for one. She told me that I have to "follow their rules," and if I won't get a prenatal massage, they'll "let" me get a "short" chair massage. Since that does focus on upper back, I agreed but asked if David was going to do it. She said, "It'll be whoever is at the chair." It was David, so I got a really good massage. You could tell he felt awful for me, which almost made it worse. I felt so humiliated and shamed for doing what they asked, and foolish for trusting them. I went to pay and the receptionist told me that the manager gave me a 50% discount on the service, and how was it? I told her he did a great job, and she cheerfully said she would make a note for the future, as if I would ever come back. I immediately wrote a review on Google, which was responded to a few hours later with a lot of words and no responsibility. They're sorry I felt that way. You can go read the review and their canned response, if you want. It's unhinged, but it's my "outcry" review, so I'll leave it.  The cherry on top was that the next day, I get an email, the subject of which is, "Following Up Personally," which just meant "privately," because it was utterly impersonal and spent the first half rehashing the Google response. I'll put screenshots, so you can read it yourself, but what's missing is any acknowledgement that what happened was unacceptable, or even that they messed up. She couldn't even muster up a "Mistakes were made."  And throughout the entire ordeal, they never once have referenced their policy, because if they did, they'd have to admit mistakes were made.  She had the gall to tell me that, as a "gesture of goodwill," they're going to refund me the rest of the cost, and that she hopes that it "can show that we genuinely care about my experience and well-being." It was $25. I'm not sure you can put a dollar amount on "genuinely," but if you can, I imagine it's more than $25. I didn't know I could be even angrier about this, but she really expanded my horizons. I emailed her back and told her that I paid cash, so how was she going to refund me? Does she expect me to come back to face the condescending prenatal massage therapist and the Front-Desk-Judas? And what of that sign? I'm so angry about the sign. It sounds so kind, but it's a nasty confidence trick. They obviously don't care about your safety and comfort. They just intend to embarrass and scold you. I asked her if giving me a refund is a "gesture of goodwill" the same way they assure someone that disclosing pregnancy is for their "safety and comfort"? I told her that it is textbook abuser behavior to ask someone to do something, punish them for doing it, and then apologize for it with gifts later. It is creepy and gross.  She actually responded but just to tell me she could Venmo. I don't have Venmo, so I tried one more time. I told her, point-by-point, what I needed--the instructions for an amicable ending. Acknowledge that what happened was not okay, explain how it happened, and apologize that it happened, not for how I feel. She answered back with another canned response. Unreal. But what I guess this means is that they think that this incident wasn't wrong or a big deal, just how they do things. And if they think that, then they'll do it again. Maybe to you. UPDATE: I did receive the $25 via Zelle on 5/15.

QQ1 Spa Is a precious gem of a neighborhood small business in the Franconia-Alexandria region of…read moreFairfax County, the kind of local treasure that civic leaders and residents love as much as loyal clients do. It takes mere minutes into a first visit to understand why, as one's stress and tensions are elbowed and squeezed and cupped out of various muscles in the shoulders, neck, back, arms and legs by the expert ream of licensed massage therapists, many holding licensure not just in Virginia but also in their home country of mainland China. QQ1 Spa is the vision of group leader Jenny, who manages the daily operations, oversees the three other female massage therapists (also from China, and also dual-licensed), and who steps in during peak times to help with client requests for everything from 4-handed massages to couples therapy to "cupping." The latter uses-- you guessed it-- several small-teacup-sized cups but translucent and without handles-- to draw blood to the surface of the skin to help drain it from knots creating muscle tension. Jenny and her staff -- including Emily, Eva and a fourth therapist -- are all wonderful treasures. When one enters QQ1, one immediately sees each team member's government-issued massage therapy licenses, each one up-to-date with state and local municipality renewal permits required to remain in good standing. A pain in the tush, to be sure. A great chance for people to grouse about the bureaucracy creating needless layers of guvmint spending to the burdens of American workers. Well, yes. But. There is value to the community good in having laws that, when followed by the citizens, show the patriotic zeal these most recent of Americans display to ensure their credentials are noted by current and prospective new clients when they enter the front door. Choosing "QQ1" as the spa's name was a nod to the Chinese cultural tradition of using certain numbers and letters in business titles to help enable good fortune and prosperity. QQ1 is on-brand to telegraph a message of trust to consumers. Perhaps akin to American small businesses that use such titles as A1, Best, and Top Service, among others. It's so endearing that any modern small business would invest such thought and care into these details. Yet QQ1 has. And it shows in their scheduling flexibility when a new client first calls to see if any appointments are open for a new client's unexpected back pain flair-up. Which is surely going to be exacerbated by the added pain in the neck of trying to find a quick available time to get a professional therapist treatment. Which makes it great to know that I when you call QQ1 they will say: just drive over. They handle this type of thing all the time. How often can anyone say they actually leave a retail establishment feeling so much better than they did when they came in?
