Where do I start with Woodforest. They are the most outdated bank I have done business with. The…read moreonly way to activate their debit cards to to go to a branch and use the atm. There was fraud on my debit card, my account was drained, they only caught 2 of the smaller transactions, and reversed them. They said I would have to do a dispute for the rest of the charges even though they were only minutes apart. They make you come in to a branch and sign forms about the fraud, this took me about 30 minutes in the branch. They told me I would get the money back in 3-5 days. That's not the norm, first off. I called back in 4 business days to check on the status to find out the papers were never "sent in" from the branch I visited, so they can't process my money back to me. The customer service "manager" couldn't get ahold of the branch I signed papers at, so they have to request the papers electronically. I was on the phone for 25 minutes while she tried to get someone in the branch to answer the phone, just for her to tell me she couldn't help me today because no one would answer the phone at that branch. Then she continued to question me as if I never went in and signed the papers. They said they do not have to give me any type of provisional credit for the next 10 days and they will get back to me. This bank is a joke.

I went today to request a new debit card as well as update my last name and address. They require more documentation to update a last name than the government! I had my updated driver license as well as my updated social security card...and they still wouldn't update without my marriage license. I asked Avery, their new accounts rep, why the other two legal forms of documentation couldn't suffice and there was no answer except that it wouldn't and that was just how it was. Please tell me why Chase bank only required my updated driver license to change my name but Hometown wants everything but my blood type? Hometown, I really think you need to review this policy as you just lost a longtime customer. Also, some customer service training is in order. Your account rep did nothing to make me feel like I was a valued customer. I may not have a large amount of money in your bank but I should be treated like I'm just as valuable a customer as everyone else. While I appreciate Hometown responding to this review I would like to add that at no time was it ever conveyed to me that the representative would attempt to make arrangements for my marriage license; even after she called to double check with her supervisor on the policy. Also, let it be noted that my DL and my SS card all reflect my maiden name with hyphenated married name. While the name change was the final straw I'd like to remind you that you did not address the customer service issue. Your representative was less than friendly and borderline rude during my brief interaction with her. I will reiterate to you that your branch needs some customer service training and leave it at that.

Customer service at this location is terrible! I actually had a teller tell me today that the…read moremanager was busy without even turning her neck from looking at drive through line or pausing to see what manager was doing at her desk! I refused to take no for an answer so I went inside and after seeing nobody at managers desk they still made me sit another 20 minutes waiting to see the manager. The manager then informed me that overdraft was intended for "accidental " overages and that she does not allow it at teller window even though this is a practice at all other locations. I might also mention my account is 30 years old so very little risk for abuse of the overdraft. Beware of this location!!!
