I will never be able to depict in words the agony this branch put me through, but I'm going to try:
Jesus: I first came into this branch trying to close one account and open another due to fraudulent activity. I was directed to Jesus, whom I have had great customer service in the past. On the surface, closing an account should be easy to do, right? But after he told us he was hungover from SXSW, I later found out that there were several mistakes that included not closing the account and not providing the new account number(that you kinda need to switch your bills to). After contacting customer service the agent said, "Weird. That's happened to me before, but I don't know what to do." I didn't hear back from Jesus until the following day, causing me to go back into the office.
Lisa: After vacation and due to urgency, I worked with Lisa who verified what was happening was odd .Unfortunately, the account STILL WASN'T CLOSED, After I saw this was still happening I went back into the branch (now I have had 4 touch points with Well Fargo regarding this situation), I was admittedly upset, and she did address my situation the best she could, even past business hours. I didn't know where my money was. I didn't know which card to use. My account numbers weren't lining up, and Lisa was confused too, but said she would get back to me. Unlike Jesus, this is where Lisa excelled: She did get back to me via email and stated she would "do anything in her power" to help. Thanks, Lisa.
Dulce: Lisa escalated to the branch manager, as she probably wanted to follow the chain of command. About 1minute into the conversation, I knew Dulce (the manager) was going to be an up-hill battle. The first problem was that she disagreed with what I said right off the bat. The conversation (or lack there-of) was NOT objective. Even as I offered my explanation as numerous times I was cut off. The second problem was that she became more hostile and more hostile as the conversation as she continued. She began raising her voice at me and demeaning what I was saying. I took the approach of trying to indirectly move her into an active listening mode--even saying "Okay, let's clarify: what have you heard me say over the last couple of minutes." I just don't think she was able to do this because several times she paused and then went back to why I was wrong. She just wasn't "getting it." After complete communication disconnect (the words I even used), she did take the appropriate approach of "let's find a solution." I appreciated this, until immediately following, she raised her voice condescendingly again and didn't provide a solution...it went further back to why I was wrong. To be honest, I eventually gave up. I just did what she said, but not what I even originally intended some kind of compromise. That's not how Dulce operates. I didn't know what else I could do at that point...not even regarding the situation, but dealing with a hostile, angry human being that was unwilling to see my side of the story. To summarize: I was treated like a powerless child and not as a respected customer.
I would never intend to throw any company or their employees under the bus, but in this situation, I just feel it's important that customers understand what they may encounter when working with this branch. I most certainly hope that your experience is different and this branch will take the appropriate measures to acknowledge their behavior, empathize with their customers, and approach any situation with an objective perception, respect, and amiable communication and service.
And instead of just ranting, here is the feedback I would give to Dulce, the manager, when approaching a difficult situation: "It sounds like this is very complex, as I've heard from my staff. I know you also want to waive some of the fees and that's a possibility. that you've incurred here is the feedback I would give to this manager (if I was her supervisor, I would certainly write her up). It is tough when you have to move your money around and are unsure what is coming out of where and why. Let's go through this step by and step to see what solution we can work towards because I want to make sure we're helping as much as I can, even if it's a compromise"
Oh. And at the end, they didn't even wave my fees due to their errors. Just call customer service...can't believe I ever had to say that. read more
