I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience earned one.
I went into this branch to cash a check that was written to me by one of their own customers. Since the funds were coming from an account at their bank, I politely asked if they would consider waiving the $10 check-cashing fee as a courtesy. I wasn't demanding anything--just asking.
The branch manager, Bonnie (if I have the name correct), was dismissive and came across as rude from the start. Rather than simply saying, "I'm sorry, we can't waive the fee," I was told that I should have an account there. That's an odd response considering the nearest branch is about an hour and a half away from me.
What makes that comment even more frustrating is that I actually used to have an account with this very branch. I closed it after the bank made an error that cost me money. So being told I "should have an account" felt especially tone-deaf.
This review isn't really about the $10. Businesses have policies, and I understand that. It's about how customers are treated. A little professionalism, courtesy, or even basic empathy goes a long way. Instead, I left feeling like I was inconveniencing them simply by walking through the door.
If this is how they treat people who are simply trying to cash a check drawn on one of their own accounts, I can't recommend doing business with this branch. read more
