At least two negative experiences at this business, both have been with the same teller, who I will be so kind as to not name on a public facing site:
I withdraw a few $100s in 1's most of the time I do business here. The first time I was told she wouldn't give me the bills because they are reserved for businesses. That felt weird so I drove (out of the county) to the Lakewood branch, let them know what I experienced, made the same request and they seemed to understand what I was saying, because they met the need with no issue. That was about two years ago.
The second time, today, I requested $1,000 in 1's... instead of just saying, "We don't have that on hand, we can order and you can pick up on this day" this teller offered two options:
Drive to Hawk's Prairie. Sounds reasonable, but on a Wednesday afternoon in Downtown Lacey, it's not...if I wanted to go out of my way to another location I would have gone there to begin with. I already did that once and I'm not shouldering the load again, so you don't have to do your job.
Then the teller asked if I wanted to schedule/order that... (I refrained from saying), "It's a no-brainer...I'm here asking for this, so YES. I would be so happy for you to do your job. I'm even willing to come pick it up another day."
I just paused and recomposed myself...at which time somebody else approached to assist me.
Like, let's be real nameless teller...you're a professional and an adult, I know you know how to do banking because you've done it for years, and what you did is like my kid asking to throw away the trash can because I told them to take out the trash.
Teller essentially said, "Do I really need to do my job for YOU?" and if I had reacted indignantly teller would have claimed they were just doing their job...by asking if they should do their job.
We could chalk it up to miscommunication, except I remember the rude behavior and tone from two years ago...just like teller remembers me and my escalation of complaint about their behavior from two years ago.
Wriggling out of taking action when you're being paid to do the job is weird to me.
So is profiling:
ya know, treating customers differently based on:
whether or not they appear to be business owners,
your assumptions that they're engaging in nefarious activity,
or
because you don't approve of their business...
Really, as a teller if you ahve any issue with just providing quality customer service, find another job.
I won't be finding another business to bank with, or moving cities, because you have some issue with doing your job, indiscriminately.
I asked around and the consensus was 'Write public reviews every time from now on, people are listening.' read more
