Dear wells fargo on Central, I consider this bank my home bank. I tend to gravitate here most, between all of the Wells Fargo spread across the valley, its my favorite. Sometimes there is a water bottle cooler, like that and most of all on Friday they have fresh cookies, why? I guess to keep customers like me happy. You can go to the normal personal line, merchant teller, or drive thru. I always like going into the wells Fargo, the people are very nice and that makes me feel good about giving the bank money. Then I was told that for a 10-minute notary I was supposed to have an appointment, wait an hour, or come back later that day. I had a similar experience in this branch a few years ago. And my friend who drove me also had a very negative experience at this branch office. When I was waiting with my wife we needed to open up a new account in a quick amount of time. The bank was dead but we were told we had to wait an hour to be seen to start the process when the bankers weren't seeing anyone and just hanging out. It's just unprofessional and I've had my identity stolen twice while banking with wells. I wouldn't suggest using this bank. read more

Here is my reply to Wells Fargo after sending an original complaint letter. To: Executive Resolution Team (Mia) Re: Unacceptable response to my complaint From: Robert Waxman, Ph.D. Please understand that the response from Wells Fargo did not address ANY of my concerns that were included in my original BBB complaint. In fact, the "executive resolution person" who was assigned to my case did not even speak to the individuals involved in the matter. Instead, this "executive" stated that the district manager "researched" the situation, and incorrectly advised her that I closed the account and did not qualify for the $300 bonus. Both claims are absolutely UNTRUE. They are lying about what really happened and misrepresenting the facts. They have created their own "alternative" facts which is so common these days. Simply stated, Wells Fargo is covering-up this incident by inventing outrageous untruths. Major falsehood: The bank claims that I closed the account, when in fact, a frantic branch manager rushed over to where I was sitting (with the loan officer) and commanded him to close the account. She sternly instructed him to write a cashier's check to me for the $5,000 direct deposit received. The branch manager did not say one word to me. She was too intent (and intense) on instructing the loan officer to close the account. In their response, it states, "Our research has also confirmed the $5,000.00 wire that posted on May 17, 2024, did not qualify. To qualify for the $300.00 bonus, a total of $1,000 or more in qualifying electronic deposits to the new account." This response is absolutely absurd since I sent the qualifying electronic funds for $5,000 by direct debit that cleared the day before my appointment. Lie, lie, lie. All requirements for receipt of the $300 bonus were adhered to, and please note: the bank does not explain why the $5,000 was not "qualifying funds." The truth is, I complied with all the requirements that were needed to receive the bonus. Just as they lied about how my account was closed, they omitted any rational explanation as to why my $5,000 did not "qualify." Why didn't the funds qualify? Wells Fargo did not answer that question except they included some fuzzy language about direct debits. I had sent the funds via direct debit! All instructions were followed perfectly and the $5,000 direct debit had cleared. They have no excuse for not paying the $300 bonus that I was entitled to according to their ubiquitous advertising. The rest of the bank's response is "standard language" that's used in boilerplate letters - it says nothing and means nothing. The most glaring issue that was conveniently not addressed was: Why did the branch manner act in such an irrational manner? Why didn't she introduce herself and explain why she was closing my account? It was without discussion that the branch manager took it upon herself to close the account and refund my $5,000 direct debit. In my 40 years in business, I have never met a branch manager who was so abrupt, rude, dismissive, non-communicative and lacking in people skills. Several other complaints about this branch manager are posted in reviews that include many of the same descriptive words above. She is obviously the wrong person for this important position, and sorely needs to be retrained and learn how to be a professional. Her immature behavior is inexcusable, and her impulsive attitude exemplifies her inexperience and lack of decency. Wells Fargo's reply is not acceptable since it does not address the details of the complaint nor explain why the checking account was closed by the branch manager. Once again, Wells Fargo is living up to its well-known reputation of being the most dishonest bank in their industry. They are still the same Wells Fargo that was sued and indicted by the Federal Trade Commission and had to pay $3.3B to settle their case in 2021. Tue banker was not helpful at all and was very rude. I was questioned for withdrawing my money from my account WHY? I deposited a personal check on Friday and the teller at that bank stated that only $400 out of the $3600 would be available until the next day-no problem. On Saturday this is the only branch that is open with full service till around 2pm so I drive to this location wait in a very long line but when I get to the teller Joe I hand him my license and my Wells Fargo card and request to withdraw $3505 cash from my account. He then proceeded to start questioning me "where did this check come from?" "What do you this amount for?" WHY do I need to justify a deposit/withdrawal from my account that I did in person? This branch is horrible- I've been banking with Wells Fargo for well over 5 years at a different location. I recently moved and this is the closest branch. Within 2 weeks they completely screwed up my accounts and even froze one account for no reason. I asked to speak with the manager (Armando) and he was no help at all. In fact he was rude and said "you can call customer service". Customer service says only the manager can release the freeze. This branch is rude and clearly not operating in an ethical way. Just an update for anyone interested. After working with Wells Fargo corporate for months, this issue is still not resolved. Last month, my business paid around 5.5% to process credit cards through them, which is OUTRAGEOUS! I paid 2.9% at Stripe before being convinced to switch to Wells Fargo to "save money". After all of their mistakes and lies by merchant services employees, they wouldn't even waive the $500 fee to end my merchant services contract. If you are considering merchant services for your business, here are some better options I have found in searching around: 1) Stripe - flat rate of 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction 2) Freshbooks - you can now process cards through Freshbooks and they quoted me 2.5% flat rate + 30 cents per transaction, although it does vary by your volume. 3) Gravity Payments - I ended up switching to them after this awful nightmare. I do not have a flat rate and the rates will change based on type of card used, but I will be paying less than 3% on average. They do not have all of the monthly and annual fees that WF charges. Whatever you do, do NOT switch to Wells Fargo for credit card processing. They charge monthly and annual fees you do not have to pay elsewhere. They lock you into long-term contracts that are expensive to leave (even after all of the mistakes and lies, WF is making me pay $500 to leave). Bottom line. This bank does not value your loyalty. I have done so much business with Wells Fargo over the last 25 years and they do not care. They made a mistake and their employee lied to me, but they refuse to make it right. My recommendation is to go to a credit union for your banking needs and use another processor for credit card processing. read more

Went in this week to get a cashier's check, and was happy with all the signs on the door stating limited number of people in lobby, sanitizer at the front, and marked spots six feet from each other in line. All tellers were wearing masks behind their glass barrier. However, the security guard in charge of keeping the line outside and telling people to sanitize, was not wearing her mask the entire time. It was hanging around her neck while she interfaced with all the customers very closely as they had to scoot by her to get into the door. She is the only employee who had any close contact, and was the only one not wearing a mask. I wanted to complain, but I also didn't want her to come up near me again like she did when I entered, and did again when I left. Someone please train this lady in appropriate, CDC-approved hygiene practices like your tellers have been! Gross. Not going in there again until this is all over. read more

My letter to Wells Fargo: Wells Fargo Attn: Branch Manager 3002 N Central Ave Phoenix, AZ, 85012 To Whom it May Concern, I understand the customer is NOT always right. I understand that I am not now, nor will I ever be your best, most profitable customer. I don't make a lot of money, I am living paycheck to paycheck and barely making ends meet. I am trying to get back on my feet to where I can live without floating one bill to pay another. I have a Second Chance account and I am trying to do the best so I can transition to a regular account. But none of this means your employees have the right to treat me like a second class citizen. You have to understand that in customer service, when a customer has a good experience, they tell one to two people. When the customer has a great experience they tell 3 to 4 people. On the opposite end of the spectrum. When a customer has a bad experience, they tell 10 to 12 people and when they have a horrible experience, they take to social media where they are visible to hundreds or even thousands of people. I am a relatively new customer to Wells Fargo. Since opening my accounts, I have been in several times for various transactions, usually depositing a paycheck (which are now direct deposited), and have really always received world-class service from your employees from the moment I would walk in, to the moment I left. Yesterday was a completely different story. I will start by apologizing, as I was out of line at the end of the transaction. I drove off and flipped the teller off. I strongly feel though, that my actions at the END of this transaction do NOT validate your employees' treatment of me at the BEGINNING of the transaction. I was in a great mood because I finally received my tuition assistance check for $3669.00 from Arizona State University where I am a student. I rushed over to make it to your branch before they closed. I went through the drive through, only wanting to deposit this check. My friend and I waited for 10 minutes. The teller never apologized for the wait or explained what the hold up was, she just left us waiting. I am still in a great mood at this point though. Finally she comes back and advises simply that my check is being held. I ask why and until what date. This is when the conversation goes downhill. She tells me it is on hold until Tuesday because I have a Second Chance Bank Account and the check is from Bank of America and if I don't like that, I can go next door to Bank of America. Are you kidding me? Her first reaction is to tell me to take my business elsewhere?? Who does that?? She was so condescending and rude I was shocked. But I let it go and collected my ID, debit card and receipt. I noticed the receipt read the deposit was $3669 and that $3469 was being held. I pressed the call button and asked the teller about the $200 difference. She was clearly irritated with me at that point and tells me the entire amount is on hold as it clearly states on my receipt. I tell her its not clear on my receipt, that's why I am asking. She responds by telling me she is going to get her manager. What? Are you serious? Up to now, I have not talked back to her, I have not raised my voice, I have been completely respectful. The manager comes over. I try asking my questions again and she cuts me off saying as it clearly states on your receipt sir, the entire amount is being held. I say again, its not clear on my receipt. She again cuts me off and tells me its clear on my receipt. She cut me off and repeated herself 3 times. I was so furious I drove off and that is when I flipped her off. Again my apologies, but again, this does not validate how I was treated. I went into the branch as soon as they opened this morning and spoke with a manager. As soon as I told her I had gone through the drive through last night, she stopped me and said oh, "you're the guy that flipped off my employees?" and proceeds to lecture me as though I am a child and basically threatened to kick me out of the branch. Again, I had not raised my voice this entire time. She finally lets me explain what happened, and though she is verbally apologetic, it is clear she could absolutely care less. In fact, several times, she kept saying I don't know why they would have talked to you like that, I don't know what the circumstances were. There were no circumstances that I should have EVER been treated like that. Yes I flipped them off, but that was at the very end of the transaction as I was driving away. The manager never asked for my name or phone number, never said she would get back to me if she has other questions. She was just giving me lip service, and barely made any real effort at that. Normally I can forgive and forget, but these two interactions from three employees are unforgivable and I am now questioning my loyalty as a customer. What reason do I have to stay? If it weren't for the exceptionally low rate, I would be soooo done with this institution as a whole. Every time I walk in or pull up in the drive thru I am welcomed by name by every single banker there. The branch manager Vincent is the absolute best! I stoped using this wells fargo location as well as stoped using wells fargo all together due to the fact that the tellers and bankers are not trained to give honest reliable answers about anything. They will screw you over. I did not have a pidly account with a few dollars with them, I had a large business account and they seemed to make nothing but mistakes at every turn.
