Dr. Swallow's care quality is good, but her front office staff leaves something to be desired. I've been a patient for a long time and have had a few run-ins with staff for either dropping the ball or being inflexible with scheduling. read more

Dr. Swallow, is one of the best doctors I've ever met! She was the only one vouching for me and helped me beyond her job! she knew things other doctors had no clue. Very expensive doctor but wasn't available when I had an emergency. Doctor and her front desk wasn't professional to handle the situation, basically they just dropped me as a patient instead of helping when I was crying for help. Doctor prescribed wrong dosage of a new medication and it created a havoc in my system, I ended up in a hospital after I called the office twice, and no help. At the end of our relationship I only wanted for them to call the pharmacy to order my old medication Armor Thyroid while I look for another doctor, but front desk person refused to hear it, she was to busy telling me how they are right and I am wrong. She did is so cold-heartedly and methodically that I felt disempowerment I never felt before! I wasn't well and it was painful! No, doctor didn't call my pharmacy, I had to go to emergency room again to get my meds until I see another doctor. read more

I spoke with Dr. Montoya over the phone before going to see her. I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and was undergoing radiation treatments. I wanted some additional help, separate from my medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeon, etc. Obviously, this was a very scary time. I told Montoya a little bit about what was happening to me and she very quickly said "well, I hope your doctor told you that radiation causes many other kinds of cancer," She then listed all the kinds of cancer I was subjecting myself to by having radiation. This really frightened me. So I talked to my radiation oncologist and my medical oncologist. They both said that Montoya did not know what she was talking about. So, I called Montoya's office the next day to cancel my appointment. They did not answer so I left a message and I explained my reason for cancelling (I did not need a practitioner who was going to scare me). The assistant called back and angrily chastised me for cancelling without 24 hours' notice and said that my oncologist was irresponsible for not telling me the dangers of radiation treatment. Well, I assume an oncologist knows more than Montoya does about the specifics of my radiation and about radiation treatment in general. In sum, there was no need for her to give a cancer patient who she had not even met such frightening "information" -- especially over the phone. Plus, I doubt she has any validated medical studies to back up her claims. I think her and her staff treated me very unkindly and I did not appreciate it. read more

Dr Dawson's treatment plan was expensive and difficult to adjust for my individual needs (I am sensitive to many supplements and medications). When I raised my concerns the alternative dosages and scheduling were confusing and difficult to maintain...with more expense. There were no changes to the health concerns that I initially wanted to address. There was no attempt to follow up with me. Events at the Center seem to be focused on youthful appearance rather than wellness. Dr Dawson was pleasant and kind but ultimately it was a waste of money and I wasn't helped. read more

Dr. Swallow is a one-of-a-kind. As a practitioner myself in the holistic health field, I can be particular. But, everything she has created, from the feel of her office space to the way she handles patients, is full of integrity and sincerity. She's also very down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I've recommended my own family and clients to her, all who have been beyond happy. She is one of the few doctors who really honors a patient and what feels good to them, as much as test results and her own experience. Her expertise in neuro-endocrinology (menopause, adrenal fatigue, thyroid disorders, anxiety, depression, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and more) is such an important contribution to the community. Great atmosphere, but poor follow up. Sold my husband and I $1K in vitamins (yes, really) then only checked in to see if we wanted to purchase more vitamins. Had me taking 15 pills per day and my husband taking 21 (not exaggerating.) Buyer beware. I will not be returning. read more

Was impressed from the start. Dr. Swallow seemed to want to treat me. Everything seemed good at the beginning. Until she suggested I get a marihuana card!!! I do not believe in cannabis as a option for me. I felt like she just did not feel like dealing with me, so 'just get a marihuana card' she said. Something is terribly wrong with this place, they cannot seem to keep personnel employed for very long. The office manager is rude, not very pleasant. Oh yes and Dr. Swallow wants you to follow up every month!!!! It all became about $$$$$$. So sad I used to love this place read more

Horrible customer service. Canceled my appointment when I walked into the office. Never called to reschedule or go over results. So now I have to make another appointment with another doctor to make sure I'm ok since this doctor is either too busy or I was scammed. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about going to a naturopathic doctor at first, but after a year of no answers from doctors I tried out Dr. Swallow. I've been a patient of Dr. Swallow (now Dawson) for almost 2 years now. She's very thorough and has helped me in so many ways. I had trouble getting pregnant and all the doctors wanted to do was give me Clomid pills and eventually look into IVF. After my initial visit with Dr. Swallow, I found out I had unbalanced hormones and a thyroid issue (something no doctor tested me for). After a few months of diet changes and a few supplements, my body was back in balance and I got pregnant naturally. I continued to go to Dr. Swallow throughout my pregnancy and she aided with the anemia and hypoglycemia that I experienced throughout pregnancy. I still go to her now for routine follow ups and to monitor my hypothyroid. I feel so much better all around with the lifestyle changes I have learned from her. Dr Monica Montoya has been truly God sent. She was the only doctor that showed any compassion or concern after searching through about twenty other physicians around the area, including ucsf and Stanford (the so called best of the best)..I was experiencing severe symptoms and could not find anyone willing to do what they could to find out what the problem was- I was told numerous times that there was nothing wrong or that I was crazy. My name is Deena Sanders. I met Dr Heather Swallow October 2011. After feeling so fatigued, I was incredibly swollen and had gained a lot of weight I spoke to friends that encouraged me to make an apt with Dr. Swallow ( she is now Dr Dawson). During the first appointment I told her my symptoms she typed in every detail and you can see in her eyes she was deep listening and figuring out a proper diagnosis what I had After going to FIVE docs that basically told me I was eating to much , needed more exercise, she told me it's not my fault my body was not doing well. She diagnosed me with hypothyroidism, low cortisol levels, imbalance hormones, major anxiety, low vitamin D... Within a month I changed my diet ( high protein) and actually worked out less! With in that one month I lost 39 lbs. I began to recognize my face when I looked in the mirror, I began to love my body again and I had such an Incredibly different level of energy.
