Although they were super busy each nurse and doctor that attended me was kind, compassionate, informative and made me comfortable and confident in their skills and abilities. This hospital is the absolute worst. I waited over four hours, was placed in a hallway chair after five hours, and left there for hours with no end in sight. I was completely ignored while people who arrived after me were given accommodations and assisted. I was asked for a urine sample, which was never retrieved. While waiting, I experienced a severe hyperventilating episode where my body locked up and became numb--on top of the reason I originally came in--and was simply told to "breathe in and out slowly." Well, compared to 2024 multiple hospitalizations for my sweetie. What was different in 2025 was the amount of security. Which was definitely needed. I have to thank everybody there that provided his assistance. At least this time it didn't appear that the caregivers needed bodyguards and I appreciated that. It was a long way in the ER the lady sitting beside me was getting so upset about it and she had been told by her doctor to get there because she had a pretty serious condition. After hearing her complaint for a while I said you better just sit right there girlfriend. She later sent me a text thanking me for making her stay because she ended up having surgery that saved her life. read more

Efficient and beautiful facility. Came for a procedure for mother. Parking is my only issue as it is a very busy outpatient business and there definitely is a limited amount of parking for it near the actual area. Once back in the room we did have an issue with supplies. No pillows and she had no blanket in the room. As mother gets cold at the breath of a fly she was shivering and I went on search of a nurse. They rectified the situation but I feel adequate supplies to be a must in a facility such as this working with patients whom are older. I've been sitting in the waiting room for 4 hours for them to take me back and literally sit me in a chair in a hallway with a number above my head. I absolutely HATE this hospital. I'm disabled and can't drive very far so if I have to go, I have to go there. I have to get labs, tests, potassium infusions, admissions for kidney/heart/endocrinology things ALL the time. I also walk out and leave ALL the time because they don't do what the Dr's have ordered. Even after I have asked repeatedly for the orders to be completed and the Dr's as well. I am not paying co pays for them to NOT do their job. I will die first. I love the new facility but it was obsolete when it was built. The new hospital opened in 2014 with 56 beds they've expanded to right around 90, and that would be fine if it was 1995 when the population of Paulding County was under 50,000. Now our population in the county is over 175,000 it's too small and under staffed. I was treated on a stroke protocol, the staff and doctors were wonderful but the place was packed, it was Wednesday morning. I didn't have to wait because they were checking me for a stroke but I was stuck in the hall, all day, I was admitted and they told me I was gonna have to spend the night in the ER. They said they had people admitted that were stuck in the ER for 2 days. I asked a nurse "is this just a busy day?" She said "This is a light day we don't have enough beds or staff. I said "well I heard they're building a $300 million new tower arent they?" She said "It won't go online until 2028 and it will only add another 30 beds it won't be enough." This is scary, because I was treated well by the staff but they are overwhelmed and WellStar needs to fix it. If you go to WellStar Paulding be prepared for long waits and don't blame the staff the place is too small and there's not enough of them, they're doing the best they can. read more

Wow ! I have been to this hospital a few times and every time but 1 particular time the service has been great from the nurses and doctors !!! Recently, I had a visit here and all I can say is *WOW I have never been more impressed !! (Kenneth (Ken) Thomas, RN, BSN who recently transferred from ICU to ER is an AMAZING NURSE! He is through in his care, he asks questions, he has a great sense of humor and you can tell by the way he communicates with his patients he genuinely cares about others. In a Reader's Digest version of events - If I could rate my experience, it would be a -10 for Neurosurgery. I have been cared for at this hospital by many wonderful practitioners, with full exception of Neurosurgery. With an attempt to inquire about a follow up to orders of imaging, I have been denied a follow up and am no longer welcome to the practice. I write this in hopes that no one else is treated poorly. After watching my husband cry in pain and beg for help at his PCP's office I took him to the ER at Paulding Wellstar. I'm here to tell you the treatment he received was so poor it just floored me!! We arrived around 2:30 and after being given several shots for pain and turned back out into the waiting area, passing out on the floor (I mean he went down in the floor, passed out, and the lady at the check in desk had the nerve to say to me, "ma'am, he can't lay in the floor", the whole time I'm crying and asking for help!) we finally made it to the back at 6:45, only to be put in the hallway on a gurney, and continue to wait another hour before seeing a Dr. We were finally discharged at 11pm with no answers as to what his pain is caused from and a boat load of meds to keep him comfortable until he could get in to see a spine Dr. The fact that he was in so much pain he literally passed out from it and they did nothing to help him is the reason I will never step foot back in this hospital again. I thought Cobb was the worst, well I'm here to tell you, Paulding is just as bad. For them to let a man lie in the floor until he came to and realized he was down on the floor, fussing because he was on the floor instead of helping, proves to me these people working this ER don't know a true emergancy if it bit them in the butt! Some Nurses are fabulous but I had one that was going to give me medicine to lower Blood pressure when my pressure was hovering at a low rate for days. I told her didn't she didn't even check my pressure. She got mad and said are you declining your medicine?? I asked her if she wasn't paying at TN during report at shift change or did she not review my pressure for the last 12 hrs in my file?? Do you want it or not?? That's what she said to me. I told her no I didn't want it and that I wanted to live and not die!!! I was on the 6th floor on cardiac floor. My daughter came and got me. I struggled with giving this place two stars and I will explain why.. My husband had been coughing and other issues that I thought were respitory related so I nagged him into being seen in the ER. Once there, they determined that he needed to stay overnight because of elevated blood pressure. Through the course of his stay, he was cared for in three departments. Three TOTALLY DIFFERENT night and day (as it pertains to standard of care) departments. 1- ER: It is one of the cleanest ER's I have been to in the metro area and the staff was overall friendly and knowledgeable. There was one nurse who was rude but the nursing manager took care of that quickly. 2- ICU: OMG these people were the gold standard of care. Every single male and female nurse that tended to my husband was SUPER friendly, attentive and informative. They didn't treat us like some poriah that was unwelcome. Nobody was rude to us as the family, in fact they treated us quite well and even went the extra mile (or two) to make sure we were comfortable and well accomodated. Then there was.. 3- On the floor: Once my husband was moved to "the floor" we had become use to great care going from ER to the ICU with such good people. This particular department was absolutely atrocious. We had not 1, not 2, but 3 rude nurses..one of whom told me I needed to take my son out insinuating he was the reason my husbands blood pressure was high. Yes, tell an 8 year old little boy who loves his father that HE is the reason his father is in the hospital. What the eff is wrong with those people? Not only that but first he was told one thing, then the next..had me hysterical like my husband was going to die. Had his blood pressure stable for a day then for some unknown reason decided to alter his medication causing it to spike or drop (then telling us oh we need you to stay again to be watched.) They gave him some lasix (spelling) that had him pissing like a racehorse and despite being dried out like beef jerky they gave him another dose..that medicine is to make someone urinate but he was already so dried out he couldnt go for 12 hours even with a new dose in his system. We had asked for the hospital administrator on four occasions...and everyone kept trying to avoid the issue. We were told one thing then an hour later something totally different that contradicted their previous statement. After 5 days of this bullsh*t we finally got hip to their game..delay the release so they can rake in the bucks. Why else would they treat you like a labrat without cause? Then there was the "lovely" receptionist. My husband finally had enough and left with his blood pressure in stroke range (supposedly)..first the nurse who talked down to my son all but ran after us for us to sign some release waiver then we go downstairs to the receptionist and my husband (upset, but justified) asked to speak with the hospital administrator. He was feeling bad and on top of it all was aggravated by the ordeal. Once again we were met with a dumb look and a "whats an administrator" attitude so he told her look you know who the hospital administrator is and i want to speak to him/her now. What does she do? Pretend she is sooooo frightened and calls security. Lol absolutely ridiculous. You are scared because someone is being treated like a god damn lab rat? I havent even gone into half of the assinine treatment we dealt with at this hospital but just look at the pictures. It looks like my husband has been in some brawl or something but no...that all is a result of their "care." NEVER AGAIN..EVERRRR. read more

Very disappointed in the ER. Once you mention that you have previously been to the VA they no longer want to treat you. They even want as far as to tell us that they have a hard time collecting payments from the VA yet here we are with our other insurance and trying to pay ourselves and we are just blown off. We were trying to give you my husband's medical history. And after a pain pill and an exray the Dr. came in and looks like the pain is gone and you have healed yourself. Are you kidding me he healed his own hernia? So yougrrrr telling me irs longer there? What a joke. My husband can barely move today the pain is so bad. Thanks for all your help. read more

I went to the ER in extreme pain with kidney stones. Mind you the pain was worse than childbirth. I checked in around 9 and was not seen until around 12 in back and sent back out. They tried to get blood in five different places, so both arms and hands were in pain. I was put in a room around 12:30, waited almost an hour before I could not take the pain anymore and pressed the pain button. Finally around 1:15 a doctor told the person who put my IV to hive me pain medicine. I have been here before, but this experience was horrible. I wish I would have gone to Cobb Wellstar, but when you are in pain, you tend to go to the closest hospital. read more

My elderly mother had to be taken by my elderly father to ER at WELLSTAR HOSPITAL. Both were upset and worried. Staff immediately assisted them and my mother was seen very promptly. EVERY staff member and medical professional has gone over and beyond to care for them both as if they were members of their family. My calls to the ER are immediately answered and directed to appropriate medical personnel. I have never experienced such a caring, professional, and well coordinated care team as this ER provides! I wouldn't trust them to treat a bruise. I ended up in with severe dehydration and gall stones a week after a gastric surgery at another (much more competent) hospital. Went here as it's down the street from my house. The ER physician had to google my surgery, then asked if it was reversible?! (Yes, really.) the nurse who admitted me couldn't pronounce the name of my surgery even though it's not difficult and quite common. The breaking point came when not only did I have to TELL the doctor I needed fluids and a CT scan, but he pushed roughly on my stomach (a week after stomach surgery which he has no clue about, mind you) and asked if it hurt! I discharged myself and drove an hour to my trusted hospital. The best part is they still tried to charge my health insurance about $1,400. read more

The best hospital I've ever been to. The ER is fast,getting your appointments on time is spot on. The staff on all levels are extremely nice and courteous. The cafe has a great selection for breakfast,and not too expensive. The waiting area is very comfortable. This has to be the worst experience EVER!! Started with the paramedics. The guy seemed to have just started that day. He hit my head, had no clue how to buckle me in and actually said it's ok we don't have to buckle her in it should be ok. Luckily I was coherent enough to understand what was going on because I have no idea what would have happened. When I finally got to the hospital I sat in the hallway for hours! Not one person acknowledged me! Not one person asked about symptoms, how I felt, or took vitals. There were multiple people around the nurses station just hanging out. They were having casual conversation eating chips as if they were at some type of party as I begged for attention, someone to help me with the pain, and even for oxygen. I told the staff and paramedics that I was having problems breathing and no response. I begged for oxygen and was repeatedly told by emt that they world give me oxygen when they had a room available. I pleaded with the nurses for oxygen sand not one person said anything. They finally gave me oxygen by nasal cannula when I screamed out, "So what you are telling me is that I can't breathe until you guys find a room to put me in? What am I supposed to do in the meantime? Die?" It wasn't until then that I received oxygen. After sitting in the halls pleading for help one of the nurses at the desk told the female emt that she can not help me because she's doing something that's a little more important and if I felt like I needed a set of vitals then I could go to the main entrance of the ER. They then pushed me to this entrance and I again waited for another set of hours. Everyone was rude and no urgency with anyone. I continuously pleaded for help again and nothing! NO ONE HELPED!! Unfortunately it wasn't about race or discrimination because NO ONE HELPED!! Not even the black tech who was wheeling patients back and forth who seemed too concerned with keeping her hair and curls intact. Not even the white guy who repeatedly spoke rude to all of the patients stating that there was nothing he could do until there's a room available so why do I keep asking him the same questions. Not even the Indian dr who came to the nurses station to speak to staff to whom I also pleaded to for help and some type of assessment or attention. Unfortunately not even the black lady who sat on the end of the nurses station who wore the yellow isolation gown and has a beginning case of skin discoloration/vitiligo. NO ONE HELPED US!! I was later taken to a "room" by the same curl stricken tech who just came to wheel my wheelchair around in lightening speed and did not even tell me where she was taking me. I had to ask her to tell me where she was taking me. I was finally in a room and thinking that ok now things can began to move. Sorry! They didn't. I sat there longer.... waiting. I was finally seen by the physician and there was no assessment pertaining to my chief complaint of abdominal pain. They drew bloodwork and stated that all of my tests were normal. I continuously asked about my abdomen begging for some type of scan or imaging that could possibly pinpoint why I was in excruciating pain with previous vomiting of up to 12 times. No scans or imaging done and not once did this doctor even touch or assess my stomach! She never laid a finger on me. As the nurse brings the paperwork in for discharge I insist on speaking to the physician because I am positive that they can not send me home without an examination! They did! As I registered nurse myself I was completely floored with this treatment and every second there at Wellstar Paulding I feared I was going to lose my life due to neglect and people just not giving a damn about patient care! read more

The ER check in people move like molasses on a uphill climb. The Seasons Cafe workers are rude at best. The ER Dr. Weiland is amazing! Professional thorough in her examinations, explains medical jargon in layman terms, and uses analogies that provide clarity to the diagnosis. The admission from ER to in patient is smooth; the nursing staff including techs or CPs on the 7th floor are attentive, caring and thorough. The imaging techs are also patient and very helpful. The cleaning people are on top of it and do a great job. read more

I give the hospital itself a 3 star but the pediatric ER side a 0 a freaking ZERO!! I took my child in for high fever, breathing shallow, rapid heartbeat, real bad dry cough and cold chills. They treated me like I was just one of those over protective mom's who runs to the doctor or ER over every little thing. They gave him a dose of ibuprofen, said oh it's nothing and sent him home. The next day, I took him to his pediatrician. VIRAL PNEUMONIA and an ear infection!!!! I will never take him back. I will drive to children's healthcare of Atlanta before I ever take him back to that place! read more

Sadly, if you live in Paulding Co. you don't really have much of a choice of where you go to the hospital. I had two stays in 2017 at this hospital. Staff were nice but it seems there is ZERO sense of urgency to take care of ailing patients. Very hard for nurses to get an IV in - I realize I am a "hard stick" as they referred to me, but that's not my fault. I would think they are trained to deal with every type of vein there is!! They put contrast dye in my arm and they "blew my vein" and had to squeeze the dye out and put the IV in a different vein. I had 4 IVs in 4 days and they would clog or leak solution under the skin. I came home with tons of bruises and was sent home too early - ended up coming back to the ER within a few weeks with the remnants of the same double pneumonia that put me there. Doctors did not agree with each other on what was going on and one pulmonologist in particular was determined I had sleep apnea and felt like that was the most important thing to treat. Recently my sister flatlined and was taken by ambulance to WellStar Paulding. After flatlining 3 more times in the ER, she was transported to WellStar Kennestone because Paulding didn't have the specialists she needed. Really? ONE hospital in Dallas GA and they can't meet the needs?? Kennestone had her in intensive care for almost a week before moving her to a room. Once in a room she got zero care. Great care while in intensive care, but they were absolutely horrible when she was in a room. Back to Paulding - she was there yesterday to get an INR - she's on blood thinners and couldn't get her nosebleed to stop. Her primary care doc said "go to the ER". I think they're all trained to say that. She sat in the ER waiting room over 4 hours when her husband finally checked her out and left. Ridiculous to wait that long for a finger stick and still not get it. One last thing - the prices that are charged when you are in the hospital are outrageous. I use an eye drop and was not allowed to bring mine from home. I pay $20 copay for 3 bottles and the hospital charged my insurance co. $780 for ONE bottle. I was charged $92 to wear a hospital gown for one day during a procedure. I could write a book on how poor the treatment is at this hospital. I certainly hope and pray I don't have to return ever again, and I feel sorry for anyone who has no choice but to stay here. read more

I came via ambulance to this hospital because of the EMT's suggestion. HUGE mistake! I was put in the waiting room for 6 hours. While waiting, there were no masks required. A man was coughing, I asked the triage nurses if he could be asked to put a mask on and was advised that it was "his choice." I was discharged from the hospital. However, they neglected to tell me that my potassium was critically low (even though they tested it). Two days later, I ended up at Piedmont hospital with the early signs of a heart attack due to low potassium. AND... Piedmont requires everyone to put on a mask at the door (which should be done at ALL hospitals during a pandemic). I ended up being admitted to Piedmont for five days due to Paulding's negligence. I am having the case reviewed because the treatment or lack there of almost killed me. I wouldn't take a dog to this hospital. I have called the emergency room manager and the patient representative twice. I have yet to receive a response. read more

I went to the ER for severe back pain. I arrived at 6 am and was in my room promptly, the nurse was in my room right away, but the doctor took a long time to come see me. The nursing staff was great, but there was only one ER doctor on duty and he was new. I showed the doctor my last blood work that was done else where and he said "I don't know what any of that means, he would have to let the doctor who took the blood handle that." I got a toradol shot, urine test, and a CT to see if I kidney stone. No further blood test and no other test to see what was going on. No one ever asked me my pain level or whether the shot even helped. I was very disappointed in the lack of interned shown about my health. Now, I am trying to get in to see another doctor. Maybe they will want to help me with my pain. read more

I wish I could agree with some of the nice reviews of Jessica Weiland at the ER. She did "seem nice and competent" and she had me fooled. Listened and put on a great show. It wasn't until a few days later when I was back to feeling better that I was able to remember. I also had looked at the discharge documents. This"responsible doctor" had given me a shot of morphine at 4:30am and then discharged me at 7:00am. Morphine is an very strong narcotic and does not clear the body in 2 1/2 hours. She knew. She knew. Her nurse had walked me out to my car and watched me drive myself away. Are you frightened yet? I don't remember that drive home nor that entire day. She also denied me testing she should have ordered in order to find out the cause of my sever upper abdominal pain. Why didn't she follow through? I was there by myself and had no one to protect me. I had depended and trusted this"doctor". Would you? read more

The ER usually does not have a long wait time. If you get admitted to the hospital, I would suggest you try to transfer to a non-Wellstar facility. The level of competence of the doctors and nursing staff on the floor is questionable at best. A friend of mine was released and readmitted within 2 days (eyebrow raise) because of something the hospital neglected to do. The only positives that I can think of is that the facility is close to my home, clean and new, plenty of parking, some staff is nice. I would not want to be admitted there, though. All of my providers are at Northside Hospital or St. Joe's/Emory in Dunwoody. Long trek but worth it for competent care. read more

I am giving this a one star for the one person who I found had awesome bedside manner at this inefficient and not so kind hospital. Went to this hospital for a pain I never experienced, thought heart attack or stroke, arrive and I found the E.R. Rooms to not be that clean and the bathroom was worse. Explained to the doctor my symptom and was told never heard of that. Told not sure what could have caused that, come back to tell me everything checks out. Well, then I am discharged and could hardly walk due to my illness. Asked if we could get a wheelchair, no one brought one, then asked if my child could bring their car around to emergency so I wouldn't have to walk too far was told no and was POINTED, to the direction I would need to take to get out which by the size of that hospital, I would say about a quarter of a mile walk and when your legs feel like logs, felt more like forever. Well in regards to my problem, not sure how the doctor didn't know because my problem has a prognosis, a diagnosis and a name and is common but I left there afraid and confused. Would I visit this hospital again, not in the foreseeable future unless there are some changes in their administration. And here's another question, how you be a three year old hospital with bad reviews? Upon leaving that hospital I felt like that episode of Spongebob when Mr, Krabs didn't have insurance, if you haven't seen it , YouTube it, hilarious but sad. None of the nurses in there were paying attention to what I was saying my hand and arm needed a xray. they did an xray on my wrist which was not the problem. they acted like they didnt care about what was wrong with me. pushed me out of there quick as possible.
