So not only did I have to pay for a full price somewhere else, and parking, but she charged me as well, even though she didn't touch me as well. I had this appointment on my calendar for the following week which is my fault! However, I was shocked at the response. No, hey you missed your appointment! Or a typical response you'd get from a professional establishment when you've accidentally missed an appointment. First of all, I cannot say enough about Wendy's services. I highly recommend her! She is intuitive, experienced and clearly excels at her profession. She gets a 5+ Star rating from me!! My background with her and her services: I found Wendy online randomly over 7 years ago when searching for local massage therapists years ago. Her website was professional, her booking process was easy, and frankly, I just liked her sweet caring smile from her website picture! I have been to dozens of massage therapists over the years for back chronic back and neck issues. And Wendy is one of THE VERY BEST there is! Over the years, I developed severe stenosis and bone spurs from arthritis in my neck. Two years ago, I finally had Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ASDF) surgery to fuse my C5-6 and C6-7 . After recovery, I continued to see Wendy for therapeutic massage for ongoing pain relief. I can assure you, Wendy is VERY familiar with patients who have chronic pain and past surgeries. She is an experienced practitioner who understands her clients, and listens to what they say (and what they don't say). I trust her completely! Although I pay for my services out of pocket without insurance, Wendy is one of the few massage therapists around who even takes insurance!! Good luck finding someone who does!! She works with a TON of clients who have been injured and who are in pain and she knows her stuff! If you know anything about insurance you know that not only is it a shit ton of paperwork for a practitioner to bill insurance for you, it should be noted that the practitioner gets a fraction of their normal fees when they DO take insurance. If you a are complaining about a $20 co-pay because you're using insurance... you should look around more! She is serving an underserved community and one should be thankful to be getting nearly 'free' massages from someone of Wendy's skill. And if you miss an appointment with any sole practitioner and it was YOUR fault for writing down the wrong date, that is on you!! Wendy's calendar is booked out weeks and weeks in advance because she is THAT good. Wendy is the most gifted massage therapist EVER. She is a clinical massage therapist - meaning she is GIFTED at injury treatment as well as prevention and preventative maintenance. When I first had whiplash I went to a massage therapist referred by doctors and after 3 months I still was not feeling any better. After one session with Wendy (before which she consulted with me on my injury, daily habits, etc. and during the massage, she continually asked about the pressure and how things were feeling), I could turn my neck in ways I couldn't in three months! And I was pretty much cured in three weeks. No joke. Also, her space is SO relaxing. Sometimes clinical massage therapists don't want it to be "spa" like but her space is relaxing and calming - all the while she cures you of your ailments. Best of all worlds. She is also charming, personable and remembers amazing details about you (and your family). She also is so knowledgable about the body and can explain exactly what is happening and what she's feeling while she massages you and why she thinks it's the way it is. I love being educated. For those less than 5 star reviews, seems related to billing or whatever. I've never had an issue and for those of us who want a caring, effective and amazing massage therapist, just book with her. That was by far the worst massage I ever had, and I had many from different LMP's. She was very condescending and didn't make me feel comfortable at all. The massage itself was overly painful and I had bruises on my back for a week after the massage and my pain was a lot worse than before - she even caused pain in locations i didn't have pain before. Her massages are great - grand, wonderful. But the billing fiasco that has been going on for over 6 months has been ridiculously lame and therefore, I hate to say, it has ruined my experience. Really... how hard is it? They have billed me for services never received LONG after I stopped going (due to other billing issues...) and now they are billing my insurance too. I had 2 massage therapists before her and she is the best! I was referred to her by my physical therapist who recommended that I receive both types of treatment for an injury at the time. I didn't know until months later, that when my husband needed treatment for an injury, he had been referred to her by our primary care provider. It's a small world when you do a great job. Massage - By far, the best massages I've ever had. I've had issues in my back, hip, shoulder blade, etc. It doesn't matter where I hurt, Wendy makes it feel better. She has a very thoughtful approach and works hard to meet my needs. Space - I love Wendy's space. The attention to detail in everything from the paint on her walls to decorations to furniture makes you feel special. I hate those places that feel like hospitals or doctor's offices. Butterflies on the ceiling are much more my style. :-) Availability - It's easy to make an appointment with Wendy ahead of time or in an emergency. I have been seeing Wendy for about 5 years now. She is an amazingly well qualified massage therapist. She was originaly recommended by my doctor as one of the go-to massage therapists in Seattle for sports massage, though her skills do not stop there. For the best massage you'll ever get, and a really friendly person who is great to deal with, go see Wendy. I recommend her to all my friends. I even have one friend who I found was coincidentally seeing Wendy before I recommended her to him. His experiences were all positive as well. One warning though; plan to book in advance. You can't be as good as Wendy without being in high demand. She is well worth the wait, but also she is great about finding spots to fit you in on shorter notice amongst her cancellations if you can be flexible with your schedule. Of further note: check out her 15 reviews that are "filtered". They consist of one 4-star and 14, 5-star reviews. Im not sure why all those great reveiws got filterd and the two negatives didnt. I have been seeing Wendy for massage therapy for over a year and I think she makes me a better, healthier, happier person! I go twice a month for chronic neck pain. Wendy is a skilled massage therapist and her office is comfortable, clean and welcoming. Massage therapy is covered by my insurance; I simply pay the co-pay at each visit and my insurance company is billed for the rest of it. I have not experienced any of the problems with billing that the previous reviewer mentioned. Wendy is always booked several weeks in advance and I think that's why there's only one review here--if everyone knows how great she is, her client list will be even bigger and those favorite time slots will fill up even faster! I've been seeing Wendy for 10+ years for chronic back and neck issues (I'm hypermobile and sometimes that's a problem). Regular massages with a therapist who is knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated to helping me manage my issues has been invaluable. I agree and disagree with the prior poster. The massages are AMAZING. Wendy pays attention to trouble spots and explains why she believes it is a trouble spot. She worked with me on making sure my posture was correct while working etc. She has been wonderful. She has even come in on her days off to accommodate my schedule and need for a massage. I disagree about the billing. I have never had a problem and I have been going there for years. She as well as the billing team have always answered my questions about billing and provided me with the CPT codes so I could double check my coverage with my insurance. I have never been billed for anything outside of what I should have been billed according to my insurance. The only time I would have been billed outside my insurance was if I canceled within 24 hours. However, when that happened once I was able to find a replacement person to take my place. I believe this is a fair policy as Wendy is so popular her schedule fills up quickly and my failure to show up or need to cancel last minute should not mean that she is out that massage time and compensation. I could not recommend Wendy highly enough. She pours her heart and soul into her clients and I am disappointed that a poster gave her 1 star because of issues that are likely not even Wendy's issues but the posters. read more

I came to Wendy in March of 2014 to help with deep tissue therapy for my shoulder. I had a slap tear repair in Nov 2013, and after rehabbing with PT, I noticed a gradual progression toward severe tendinitis. My PT recommended I visit Wendy, and from day one, my symptoms started improving post-visit. Of course, with tendinitis, it is a long road, and that road is amplified by any extra aggravation (known or unknown) caused to the area. But here is what always amazes me: when I see Wendy, my symptoms significantly improve post-visit. I had a tendinitis in my triceps and that rarely if ever appears now -- I attribute a lot of this to Wendy's excellent care. Additionally, Wendy understands connectivity of tissues and knows her anatomy. She is a solid practitioner and I recommend her highly. read more

Her scheduling and billing practices are a nightmare - she was impossible to schedule with and when we cancelled appointments they didn't log the cancelled or frankly they may have just made stuff up. We have been billed and rebilled and she lied and said they took our insurance and they don't. We are hiring a lawyer to deal with this. Please don't use her or you'll get screwed over too - and it will take away any relief the massage may have given you. read more

both my wife an i have been going to wendy for several years, and she's good. we've never had any billing issues--dead simple, in fact. her massage technique tends to be rather gentle by my standards (which favor stronger massages) but i frequently find myself surprised afterwards that something she worked on quite subtly produced a much larger effect than i had hoped for, so i that to me indicates that she is doing a good job. and, she's a really nice person. i tend to grade rather hard, so 4 stars from me says a lot. read more

Wendy is amazing! She really listens to your needs, and she knows what to do help with all kinds of issues. I sought her out when I was dealing with an ongoing muscle spasm in my back, and I am so glad I did. I was especially impressed that she was able to give me expert advice about how to avoid re-aggravating that trouble spot by adjusting posture in addition to massages. Many people had tried to tell me how to do this before, but none of it worked except for Wendy's recommendations. That trouble spot rarely bothers me anymore, and if it does, it is far more mild than it was before. I had no idea how tight my entire back and neck were before I started seeing Wendy. Since that first visit, I've seen Wendy regularly and always walk out relaxed and feeling far better than I did when I walked in.
