This is my very 1st experience with acupuncture! I have visited twice so far. I 1st sought acupuncture to potentially address a few vague symptoms that I have been experiencing. Prior to my 1st visit I completed a lengthy questionnaire from the website to prep the practitioner, Wendy, of my concerns. During the 1st visit she was thorough in gathering info from me about my concerns and was very receptive. I must admit that I was skeptical and initially had a narrow-minded impression that the session would be a little witch-doctorish. However, it was actually quite interesting. First off, it DOES NOT hurt! MY perception of the needle being inserted is that of pricking myself with the tip of an ink pin. In other words, a very dull sensation. After all the needles are placed, she leaves me to relax under dim lighting with soft music. During both sessions, within moments of being left to relax, I experienced a soothing flowing sensation proximal to the areas of the needles. On my 1st visit my foot repeatedly twitched and I had a slight achy feeling on my wrist (the wrist that I frequently sprain and have chronic intermittent pain in). Wendy later explained that the twitching was the [negative] energies exiting my body. I have no idea how long I am left in the room, but both times dozed off & awoke feeling super relaxed. There was ~3 wks between my visits and during that time I only experienced pain in my wrist once whereas typically it would be sore ~ couple times weekly. I also feel more refreshed/clear-headed after the sessions. Wendy is a delight, always presenting as warm and welcoming. Her rate is also pretty reasonable. She is by-appt only and works from two locations depending on which day. I have only visited the location near Matthews/Pineville (Carmel Village- within Bee Yoga, 2nd floor beside Panera). The other location is Plaza Midwood area. Her assistant, Patty, is very nice as well. She handles scheduling and email correspondence and has greeted me both times. Recently, I saw a news segment on health and how acupuncture can help with aging. It immediately caught my attention as I am in my mid-fifties but feel like I am 35 years old or so but that is until I look in the mirror. The surgical options are a bit too much for me and botox just doesn't last very long. I also recognized the acupuncturist as Wendy, a yoga teacher, at BeYoga.
